I love parks but this one baffles me a tad. Pros: 1)Decent(ish) walking/running trails. Some are paved and some are dirt/gravel. These don’t follow a logical pattern however. For someone who uses a park for this, they would be doing a lot of 180s. I have seen better. 2)Well maintained. Plush grass, pretty flowers, etc. 3)Large open areas that can be used for whatever 4)The location is great for people who live in this area of Goldsboro No so Pros: 1)Another reviewer mentioned the lack of amenities. This person reviewed the park in 2010. Not much has changed. There is a beach volleyball thing and one shelter. There is also a dog park but I will get to that in a minute. Those pretty much sum up amenities. 2)For some reason, whoever designed this park thought Frisbee golf would be a great idea. Nothing against this or towards anyone that enjoys this, but this seems to me that Goldsboro took the cheap route here. The course doesn’t have a logical pattern as I tried going in numerical order. There is no order to it. Also, a park to me can be summed up by how well it is utilized. The two times I have been here, no one has used the golf thing. Not sure where this idea came from, but it was a bad one. 3)The dog park is nice and one of the better ones I have seen. But I have never been to one where you had to pay to enter. I noticed that the gate to it had a code/keypad thing to enter. I read Leticia W.‘s review and she mentioned that it is $ 20 per year plus $ 15 per additional dog. Perhaps I am spoiled as I have never seen one that requires a yearly fee. I also believe this is why I didn’t see anyone using this. Not to mention I was the only one in the park for the hour or so I was there. Summary: I have been to better parks with more amenities, trails, etc. I like the open area and how well it is maintained. But this park equates to someone’s backyard in my opinion. Not much is going on here.

Iam so excited to have found a dog park in goldsboro! Searched everywhere and the closest place I found was in in Clayton. I read other reviews on the park and yes it is true there are some areas that are flooded in the regular park area, however it’s winter and we’ve just had some storms come through. It’s a cold day today(39degrees) so nobody is out. The park looks like a nice place for a picnic, a walk, a birthday party on a nice day. They have a covered ramada area and bathrooms nearby. Trails for a nice stroll jog, or a walk with your dog. It could use a larger play area for the kids and an open field area would be nice maybe for a small game of soccer :) Someone did mention the fee for the dogpark. Yes it is true, but it’s only $ 20 for the year($ 15 for each additional dog). That’s ok with me since my dog is an only dog and likes to socialize. My dog and I will be back for sure!

Decent walking trail but you have to pay to use the dog park as if we lived in NYC. Grass is flooded all the time as well. Pass.

I understand that this used to be a neighborhood, and sometime back in the 90’s the homes were torn down and the Parks and Recreation board inherited the property. They have a ways to go. Now it should be mentioned that I am looking at this park during the winter months, but there are still some glaring areas that need attention. There are many spots through the park with low lying areas that contain stagnant water that during the spring summer and fall will be breeding mosquitoes. Need to eliminate them with some fill dirt and reseed before it is too late to do so. You will spend more on chemicals to get rid of the bugs and will also drive out those people attempting to enjoy the park. As for the Disc Golf course, I got lost after hole 12. None of the tee boxes are concreted in. They are all mud holes. They need some help. I will re-review in Mid Spring.

According to Goldsboro Parks and Rec, «Stoney Creek Park is located on Ash Street along side of the Stoney Creek. It currently as no amenities.» Ha-ha. Couldn’t have said it better myself, BUT, Stoney Creek Park has frisbee golf, it’s a little crude and the course is hard to follow(haphazardly marked and no map) but it’s a start. 10 holes — amateur and pro… If there really is such a thing as a PROFESSIONAL frisbee golfer lol… If you are really into disc golf, here’s some more information about the course specifically:
