Internet Access: I am willing to do almost anything short of paper cups on strings to avoid having to use Cox for broadband. In 2009 we called them after seeing their ads stating that hooking up new service is easy to arrange. We called them almost a week before our move within the same city. We were existing customers with no late payments. I mentioned that internet service was critical to my home office operation. Service was not, however, enabled at the new location because they terminated the work order without notice or a reason. After service was up, it became spotty and Cox blamed their modem, offered a new one, and when we resisted this because of the difficulty of reaching anyone who could help via phone, they gave us a direct dial number for their specific «team» which was supposedly invested in helping customers get these new modems into the field. The modem arrived with installation instructions, which we followed, and it did not work. All efforts to reach them at their special phone number failed. We tried at least 10 times during the 3 days we were trying ways to get it to work, and for months thereafter. With no other choice, we reinstalled the OLD modem for what we thought was the interim. The old modem is still operating 5+ years later, so their diagnosis of «bad modem» was incorrect. The new one never worked and we never reached anyone at Cox to address it. The price for internet access has gone up much faster than the rate of inflation. It’s indefensible.
TV: We have the Cox TV Essential package. We never had premium channels, but were OK with that. This one-​step-​above-​basic– cable package has degraded since 2009 from about 45 channels with mostly substantive programming to 23 channels. Channels just disappeared like the night sky of a dying universe. All government access is gone, and most everything else is all informercials all the time. We refuse to pay more to GET BACK what we had before.
It ain’t right. There ought to be a law, so I looked into it. There is one, a local municipal code, but it only gives customers rights if Cox’s picture resolution is degraded. Obviously 50 years or so out of date. Time for change.
On the upside: Cox customer service is relentlessly polite. That’s the best I can say.

The company is too low. High charging with poor service either Internet or tv. And the professional installation is definitely wasting money. Those guys cannot help you to solve the basic problem but charge a service fee 60 dollars :) can u company fucking improve your quality and dnt fucking cheat customers.

I absolutely hate this company! I have never dealt with anything so stressful and disorganized in my life. They cancelled my appointment without notifying me. I’m absolutely unable to set up my pay online because of them. And they want to charge me 10 $ to pay over the phone. Screw you monopolistic bastards I hope you rot in hell.

I see I’m not the only one with issues.
Bought the service Monday just for internet, no cable or anything. They made it seem like I’d be up and running by Tuesday. I did receive my kit and I set it up. Well after screwing around with it for an hour I finally called because it wasn’t working. After 30 minutes of holding then trouble shooting the guy finally tells me I won’t be hooked up until the next day.
So the next day comes and I sat out front watching two cox trucks come and eventually go. I talked to both of the workers and to my disbelief they weren’t there for me. Literally I am told that they just have to flip a switch, but I wasn’t on their itinerary. I’ve since called the customer service like 5 times and been put on hold for 10 minutes at a time.
Last night they told me not until today. I can’t get a straight story and I keep getting strung along by this company! I had an assignment due that I put off thinking I could do it in my apartment. I was very wrong.
If I can give them any credit I will say that I talked to some nice people. I don’t get angry often and It was difficult to get angry with the representatives but the last one got an ear full. This company will surely be out of business once something else comes along. I can’t freaking believe I am paying for this crap.

Over the past 5 years we’ve had horrible Internet connection speeds. We pay for 12MBPS and more often get 1 (ONE) or less. Now they want to raise the rates AGAIN to $ 63 per month. After 5 techs came to the house and multiple calls, the speed problems are still unresolved. We’ve tried all avenues of support and all yield the same results. NOTHING. Cox is a waste of time and money.

As a quick update — cox is still terrible. Due to their own mistakes — they ended up coming out to our place 3 times in order to get it all set up and working okay. Now it works without issues — but they tried to charge us an extra $ 80 for service work when it was just their own mistakes setting it up the first 2 times. Luckily, we were able to call and get that reversed. But still!

What kind of terrible company does «planned» outages without notifying customers beforehand? Cox Communications, that’s who!
