Not an attractive place, kind of out of the way, but the parking lot is full and the dining room is busy. My expectations for a quality po-boy were a bit low considering the all-Asian staff that doesn’t speak much English, and the fried rice and egg rolls on the menu. Even though a «half-and-half» po-boy is not on the menu, they do have shrimp and oysters, so I asked for a half-and-half and they were happy to oblige. Off to a good start. From my first visit here a couple of years ago, I recall a decent po-boy on nice crusty bread and good crispy fries. But they also used frozen shrimp. Not the worst thing ever, but being so close to the gulf I don’t know why fresh shrimp po-boys are so hard to find. Today, the fries are hot and crispy, the bread is nice and crusty(Liedenheimer style) the pickles, lettuce, tomato and mayo are in perfect proportion — but, sadly, the shrimp is bland and tasteless. The oysters are much better, but are also not today’s fresh catch. A good dose of hot sauce is a helpful addition. Overall, if you have jury duty in Gonzales and the judge gives you a lunch break, this is a decent(and clean) place within walking distance of the courthouse. Maybe the fried chicken or hot sausage po-boy would be better choices — or maybe even the fried rice. If you like that sort of thing.

Fantastic fried rice! The shrimp po-boy is just a bunch of chopped shrimp in a fried ball– yuck! Roast beef is not good either. I do really enjoy the turkey poboy.

The Po Boys are good, but I really like the fried rice and eggrolls here. I have gotten them several times. They are simple, but they are so good. The BBQ Pork fried rice is my favorite. Simple, flavorful and filling. Hard to beat the price when a large fried rice and two eggrolls go for under $ 10 with plenty of rice left for another meal.. I’ve also had the Po Boys. My favorite is the grilled shrimp, fully dressed. The Po Boys are huge too. A small in enough to fill me up with out a side and costs about $ 6. The place is small with about 10 tables and usually packed around lunch time. Want to save some time and avoid the wait then call in your order for pick up.

Had lunch here today for the first time with my husband. I ordered the fried chicken Po Boy, and my husband ordered the grilled shrimp Po Boy. After putting hot sauce(only one selection) on mine, it wasn’t that bad, the bread was good, and the size of the sandwich was good for the price, but I do wish it tasted as good as it looked. I tried my husbands grilled shrimp on his sandwich, and was not impressed, kind of chewy and bland. Also the napkins need to be more than one ply thick, and bigger since Po Boys can be kind of messy. I will go back to try the fried rice since that seemed to be the item that most people were eating/ordering while we were there.

I have been here a few times for lunch! I mostly only know about places in Baton Rouge or Prairieville. Since working in Gonzales my coworkers have told me about this place omg they are sooooooo good! If you know about New Orleans style hot sausage poboys THIS is the place to go! They have many different types of poboys, lunch plates, lots of sides to choose from as well. Their sweet tea is amazing!!! The workers here are always friendly. This place is like your local John’s seafood… The people who work their are family the mom, daughters and dad in the back cooking. Makes you feel really at home. They have TV’s to watch as well. Very clean place with yummy food to eat! The restrooms are always clean too. You can order to go or you can order in and sit and they will come and bring it to you. The only negative I would say is they«salt» the fries before you get them but they always taste really plain, I always have to add salt. Luckily there is always some salt on the table. Great place to eat lunch! I was so thrilled when I found out about the New Orleans style hot sausage poboys, often out here it’s always links. Well not here! They have the Patton’s hot sausage patties.

Very delicious. Bread is always so fresh. I usually get the grilled shrimp poboy, but I have tried other ones. I’m never disappointed. Best poboy place in Gonzales!

I have had their oyster and catfish po’boys. They were only alright I thought. The oysters were overcooked I thought and the catfish is really thin and too much breading. Bread is pretty good, chewy, you gotta use ya teeth, haha. They didn’t have alot of choices for hot sauce either. Place is clean and they are fast. People working there are nice. Just didn’t blow my mind or anything. Might try the fried rice next time though, since people are saying it’s good.

Poboys are fantastic. Believe it or not but my husband loves their shrimp fried rice. Their seasoned fries are also fantastic! Restaurant is small but very clean.

Probably the best place to get Po Boys in Gonzales. They are good and cheap. I’d reccomend the shrimp Po Boy or the Crabmeat Patty. Great place for lunch.

Heard from some locals the place was good and since it was right next to Onestop Barber thought I woudl grab a bite before getting my hair cut — had the roast beef with gravy poboy — I’ve had better — really not a good choice given the consisitency of the bread, which is delightful by the way — but you gotta tear that bread so it in turn causes you to pull the roast beef out of the poboy and then you got a mess on your hands! What with the gravy and the fact that it is heavily dressed. They really should have paper towels on the tables instead of the flimsy restaurant napkins. I will give it another try, no doubt about that but will probabaly go with an oyster or catfish poboy or maybe one of their hot lunches. Do give it a try if in Gonzales but just be mindful of the roast beef poboy and if you want it be prepared to eat messy!

Love this stuff. Great po-boys of all kinds. I usually get the fish or shrimp. Instead of fries I get pork or shrimp fried rice.
