I knew we were in for a very meh experience when we walked in and saw the huge«WEONLYTAKECASH» signs plastered on the front door. This is one of those places. It’s 2015(hours from 2016 as of this writing! Yes, I’m Unilocaling at 7:00pm on New Year’s Eve. Such is the life of a new parent!). Cash is pretty much on the outs. If I can hold my phone up to a sensor and pay for something, you can take a credit card. As soon as we walked in, we could hear the waitress talking with the only other table in there(to be fair, this was the day after Christmas, so quiet). They were discussing the no credit card policy and how awesome it is because another place had started accepting credit cards and their prices had to be raised by $ 2 across the menu. Ok… I’ll just go ahead and debunk that right now, because we went to nearby Ken’s Coney a following day, and their menu prices were exactly the same, and they took credit cards AND offered free wi-fi. Anyway, so you’re saving on credit card fees. Must mean you’re sinking your money into better food, yes? Nope! We ordered burgers and fries and were vastly disappointed. This was a thin, clearly frozen patty dropped on a bun and called it a day. The fries were those totally meh diner fries with zero flavor. The one saving grace was my wife’s greek salad, which she said was pretty good. Luckily we had cash, so we paid and took off, vowing to never return to this Coney again. Check out Ken’s. They’re a world better, and you don’t have to worry about having cash!

One thing I miss living in Texas is a good old fashioned Coney Dog. I had 2 and they were better then I remembered. Friendly staff but bring cash as the don’t accept credit cards. Large menu to choose from if your not into coneys. Great all round café. I’ll go out of my way to eat here again!
