Wow real deal polish food in the middle of no where. Looks like a simple deli/market from the street but my coworker insisted I give it a chance. He said«order the polish plate, you will thank me.» Out comes the polish plate on a regular dinner plate and it looks legit. Three pierogies smothered in sautéed onions, house made kielbasa with sauerkraut and stuffed cabbage. This is definitely a hidden gem.

I’m of Polish/German descent and my fondest memories are of family gatherings over holidays where the handed down recipes were brought out. My JaJa Stash’s Homemade polish sausage, my Baba’s Pierogies, Paczki, Chrusciki from the Polish side and my Oma Ida’s Kohlrouladan(cabbage rolls) and Beef Rouladan from the German side. I have found few Polish restraunts that can come close to their cooking. and I have tried the best in Chicago, Detroit(shout out to Hamtramck and New Palace — the best Polish bakery and Paczki!) When my husband and I moved here from Michigan last year I was missing these special foods around the holidays. I was searching online for Polish restraunts and came across Quaker Creek. I didn’t know they actually served food there based on their website, but thanks to the reviews I realized there were«German» and«Polish» plates where several of my favorite things were plated together. We took the short trip out in black dirt Vidalia onion country and I was delighted by what I found. It’s small, it’s a hole in the wall, it’s not fancy and best of all — it reminds me of home! Just good food, authentic with quality ingredients. My husband got the pierogie plate which features several kinds and I got the Polish platter. DELISH. My only complaint and suggestion — get a bakery going — no one in the Hudson Valley makes Paczki! The owners would make bank.

Sandwiches are killer, and the price is right. Too bad I live so far away! The staff is incredibly friendly. A lot of grocery items as well. Could use a dedicated dining room.

I do love this place, but the cole slaw is awful. I like the ham and pirogies. I wish they would re-vamp their salad recipes. Love some of their soups that they freeze for take home, Very friendly and helpful

Good things come to those who randomly stumble into a store in the middle of Black Dirt country. I stopped here on a drive through Pine Island one day after visiting a client for work and it’s been gluttony heaven ever since. First things first, if you ever see the LAMBGYRO on the menu, order like 5 of them. Thank me later(and wear sweatpants) In all seriousness, this is a cute, quaint store on Pulaski Highway in Pine Island. There’s a nice older woman wearing an apron at the counter and a bounty of other employees there to help you as well. It is half convenience store, half café, toss a little deli action in there and you have Quaker Creek. They have an assortment of on-site made meats and sides. They offer daily meal specials that range from Polish, Italian, Mexican, Greek and American; everything is delicious. EVERYTHING. They make their dressings themselves, the sides, they cure their own meat, it’s wonderful! Most recently I had their corned beef special with cabbage, potatoes, carrots and soda bread. I almost lost a finger eating so fast. It was better than anything my Grandmother ever made and she was right off the boat from Galway. I’ll continue to expand my waistline and this Mom and Pop shop and love every single morsel.

A long way from anywhere, but I remember this perfect meal years later. Excellent food — fresh and perfectly cooked. Friendly people. Beautiful scenery and drive.

This used to be a good store and deli 20 years ago when Mrs Sobkowiak was still alive. After she died, the sons never followed her recipes and the food is not the same anymore. I see people below say that they loved the polish kielbasa at this deli… Well, they probably never tried real kielbasa before. If you want to try real kielbasa, the store Kiszka in Greenpoint NY or Piast in Garfield NJ has the best polish meat products to offer. Also Krakus and Bratek in Passaic NJ has good polish kielbasa, ham, real bread and more… Those meat and bread products are made there on promises by polish people born in Poland from 100 years old recipes. Quaker Creek on Pulaski Highway though make their own beef jerky and they are delicious. They also make their own hamburgers and they are better than from shop-rite for sure. So this deli is more American than Polish now, although the Sobkowiaks family are really trying hard to upkeep the polish traditions there.

I used to stop in year a couple times a year with my mother who spent her first 25+ years of her life in the vicinity… I remember getting delicious fresh pirogies, smoked sausage, beef jerky, liverworts and kielbasa. We would pack am empty cooler just for the trip home! Today was not a disappointment. Now you can eat the fresh there and and travel with the frozen! Perfect! I was sad not to see the pastrami(bc i recall the pastrami being the bomb) on the menu today, so instead my bf and I tried the Polish Plate with cheese perogies smothered in butter onions, kielbasa with sauerkraut and a huge golabki(stuffed cabbage). It was awesome and filling, but not over the top. I’m so glad I finally got back to this little gem were locals and local farmers(saw my aunt there & her farms picked vegetables there for purchase off the shelf!) congregate for some darn good food!

I lived in Eastern Europe for a number or years and happen to like the smoked meats and provision. After reading the rave reviews about Quaker Creek deli my son and I decided to stop in on our way up to Sullivan county. Entering the deli you’ll see a display case with some Ham’s, kielbasa’s and other meats. I ordered 1 kielbasa, 1 lb ham, 1 kobanos(their spelling of kobanos is off the wall, with a ‘C’) and some salads(cucumber, coleslaw, potato). Finally the family was going to have lunch. We prepped the kielbasa, kobanos & ham, salads and made sandwiches. The first bite and the only taste in your mouth was SALT, no spices, nothing but SALT. The sandwiches went the Hefty way. To the local deli for Boarshead. The salads were seasoned OK hence the 2 stars, for the smoked meats 0 stars. I’m a smoked meats(cold cut)) connoisseur, I love the stuff — headcheese, liverwurst, blood sausage…, this is not one smoke house/deli I would recommend for Euro cold cuts. If you want decent cold cuts go to the following: In Orange county go to JJ deli in Port Jervis, in Ulster County go European deli in Ellenville, Piast meats and provisions in NJ(5 locations), Golden Eagle deli Lanza Ave, Garfield, in Westchester go to Yonkers Miasarnia(butcher), Polish deli, in Manhattan go to East Village Meat Market(2nd Ave between 8th&9th St), Astoria can’t remember the name on Broadway in the 34 to 38 street block and then there is also Greenpoint Brooklyn — little Warsaw. I will post my ‘local’ smoke house findings as I discover them.

My mother grew up in Vernon so we go there very frequently. This is on the way. Its unreal. The atmosphere can be a little off putting you kind of need to know what you want. But If you have somewhat of an idea and aren’t 100% everyone in the store will not only help you but share their very valuable opinion on whats good or what to get. I can’t begin to discuss how delicious the Perogies are. They have several options you can buy frozen which i LOVE because you can buy a bunch… bring them home. pop them in your freezer and have them any time you’d like. The meat is also delicious. I don’t know what to say other then i’ve never had anything like their kielbasa. It’s unreal. I’m not big on meats but i’ve heard from family everything else is just as delicious. Oh and eating there… awesome. They make the perogies and you can just sit and enjoy them with or without onion and sour cream. So fresh so good. I moved to NYC but my parents still live in the area so when I come home I make it a point to go. I can’t say enough good things they truly deserve a 5 star Unilocal review all around.

The people make this place even better than the food. the owners, workers and clientele. You got farmers with bikers and bankers mixed at a communal table for a delightful and eclectic blended conversation and comradeship. Now, the food is also as homey and tasty as it gets. try everything! It’s all fresh and home made wholesome honest real food. I tried the pastrami sandwich with coleslaw on grilled rye. I also tried the Polish platter with stuffed cabbage, pirogi with onions and kielbasi with sauerkraut, it was better than great. I also tried the hot dog, excellent and the jerky and spicy sausage. I took my time and had great conversations with a local onion farmer that taught me much about the land and local politics. I was basically in heaven!

What an absolute gem! Everything there is fresh and homemade. Nothing there ever disappoints! We got our Christmas ham from there and they were more then helpful for us to get our perfect one! The Apple Maple sausage made for a wonderful Xmas morning breakfast addition! I’m so lucky to live by a place that values fresh local ingredients as much as they do! I’ve been here multiple times for lunch and the place is always spotless. The owner Bobby is always more then happy to stop and answer any questions you may have. It’s definitely worth a stop by!

Best pastrami sandwich I have ever had! I loved the slaw, the meat was amazing and the bread was toasted perfectly. The homemade pierogis were pretty awesome too(4 to choose from cheese & potato, onion & potato, sauerkraut & potato, and onion & portabella mushroom). Definitely worth the trip out to Pine Islands if you want some high quality meats and sausages.

Although this place doubles as a Deli, the reason people flock to the Quaker Creek Store in the middle of the Pine Island Black Dirt is for the home made meats and sausages. The owner, Bob Matuszewski is a CIA trained chef and he puts his skills to work making various types of gourmet sausage. His meats have been featured on the Food Network with Bobby Flay. There are soooo many awesome meats to choose from it makes it difficult to decide what to get. On our most recent trip we picked up some Italian Sausage with Mozz, Basil and Tomato, some fresh Beef Jerky(which he also makes) and also some of his home made hotdogs(Original & Jalapeño and Cheddar) which are also pretty delightful. He actually talked me out of purchasing more meat by telling me to buy only what we planned on eating soon as they don’t use preservatives in their meat. I’m grilling up the Italian Sausage as we type… If you love meat as much as I do ;-) this place is definitely worth the trip. They’ll even pack your meat in some ice for you if your driving a distance and not going to be able to refrigerate your purchases in short order.

They also sell their own dog treats: roasted bones and pig ears. Get there early though…
