Spruce Corner Restaurant

Brown and serve sausage links? really? They looked (&tasted) like something my dog left in my yard this morning. Stale bread and uncooked homefries were the only thing that made my sad omelette half way decent. One star is a generous score.

Solid no-​frills breakfast. Well prepared omelets. Good blueberry oatcakes. Friendly service. My new go-​to place in the Goshen/​Ashfield area (getting tired of Elmer’s passive/​aggressive ‘tude, inconsistent quality, and long wait for the food)

A nice homey place with good food at reasonable prices. Everything our group of twenty ordered was excellent and served well, but the pies were disappointing.

Whenever I want to go out to eat with my mom, she always suggests Spruce Corner. For the most part, that’s always where we end up. The atmosphere is about as low-​key as you can get and the food is about as comforting and homey as you can get. It’s also nice because my mom always insists on treating me, and I don’t feel guilty because it’s inexpensive.
I love my mom, our meals out, and the simple and good food at Spruce Corner.

When rolling through the western reaches of the state, driving through towns like Goshen and Cummington, I saw this little place and had to pull in.
It looks inside just like what you’d expect from outside… like somebody opened a diner in their house. It’s not posh, it’s not chic, but it’s good down-​home cooking. Their sandwich menu could just be labeled ‘comfort food’ with everything from a simple PB&J ($ 2.50!) to grilled cheese, to any sort of grilled sandwich. I had a turkey melt and a cup of creamy tomato soup, and was delighted. The fries were cooked just right, everything was generous for the prices, and watching the locals’ antics up at the counter was worth the price of admission.
If you’re driving through at lunchtime, stop in! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
