One of the best parts of a road trip, is the inevitable detour to a truck stop. Whilst rolling to Lincoln, I stopped at this truck stop for 2 reasons. 1. We needed fuel, and I needed to stretch my legs. and 2. The choices were an elegant, very bright and very corporate Shell station if we turn left. Or the almost spooky rode hard and put away wet family looking owned(not AS corporate) Sinclair station /Truck oasis with a road house bar/restaurant in the parking lot if we turn right. I opted for the Sinclair station, they weren’t as busy, the fuel price was the same and I’m a fan of supporting smaller companies/family run places. Now Sinclair may gross more $ than Shell, but the stop looked interesting so they got my business. On the door as you walk in is a flyer proclaiming that as of some specific date I cannot recall, this fuel stop is 100% smoke free! Behind the counter was a lady who greeted me with a smile and a cigarette hanging from her mouth. Mama and the kids went to make use of the facilities. The potty was clean enough, nothing scary, smelled of chlorine and was kept up. The selection of Jerky was amazing, 3 different end caps, 5 different brands. Hell ya, this is what road tripping is all about. If only they had Alabama’s greatest hits on CD for .99 cents. Maybe they did, I just couldn’t find it. Word.
