Good, Bad, Ugly. Good: snowboarding in the summer. Bad: heavy duty bro vibe is not always super friendly for non-whites or chicks. Food kind of sucks. Ugly: Drug references in end-of-session video get lots of laughs during a camp-wide viewing. But again, snowboarding in the summer in a beautiful setting.

A return camper for life, HCSC is the living embodiment of Life Improvement Through Snowboarding. I’m an adult camper, and there is always 30+ of us Big Kids for sessions 1, 5 and 6. Every summer I look forward to seeing old friends, making new friends, riding the sickest park on one of the world’s greatest mountains, late nights at Mountain View Charlies, beer kickball, product toss dodgeball, huge goggle tans with matching smiles and just about he coolest people you can possibly meet. 99.996% of people that come here are there to rock it on the snow and have a great time. you cannot come to HCSC and not leave with a smile glued to your face for weeks after your back at the grind and a boatload of new friends to snowboard with all over the world. Oh, and there are no skiers allowed. +100 stars.

If High Cascade still exists, I’ll be happy as a clam. As an alumnus from the 1988 and 1989 summers there, I’d love to have a snowboard and skateboard reunion with the other campers and instructors. Can any of you still skate? Snowboard? River raft? hahaha. I think after a few of the arials we tried to pull at HCSC, some of us are lucky to still be walking. I fractured my wrist one summer trying out a new move in the halfpipe and the staff were awesome. Someone from HCSC took me a great medical facility with lots of cute nurses and I was able to finish my snowboarding days with an immobilizing splint. Also, I was in love with my snowboard instructor Kristie back when she was 17 and I was 12. She was and probably still is the coolest girl I ever met. When I met her years later at the Nissan Pro in the Snow competition at Squaw Valley, she gave me a huge hug at the top of the half-pipe. I was blushing for hours if not days. Man, I should really look her up. Thank you High Cascade, for a great twice-in-a-lifetime experience that I’ll never ever forget.
