This live oak tree was designated a Granbury Historic Tree April 26, 2002 in honor of Arbor Day. When the tree was landmarked, it was known as the«legendary hanging tree», but further research has indicated that no one was hung from the tree, that the hanging was on scaffolding built in the back of a wagon.
