Had a large group stop in for appetizers and drinks. Waitress was nice but a few drinks were terrible. Two of the same drinks came and had totally different colors and taste. Food came out slow and sauces had to be waited for, even though we ordered together. Ordered a Salad and got a grinder sub Instead. The salad came with totally wrong toppings. Ordered a «46» off menu and she had no idea what it was. One drink came and had a bug in it. Frequent grand haven visitor, have cottage, but likely won’t be back to this place.

Grinders were delicious. Service was a little slow and seemed as if they were slightly understaffed. But they made up for it by an on-the-house appetizer.

Terrible service, top 40 for music, warm flat beer in Nowhere, USA with small town thinking. Only one of us was black but our group of 10+ was given the stink eye… WTF.

Great stop for locals and visitors! Located right down town with a great view of the channel. Prices are reasonable and they have a great beer selection.

Unfortunately Grand Haven does not have many sports bars. 22 below has a lot of tvs but most are small and oddly placed unless you get the perfect table. If you’re looking to watch a game also try Tip-a-Few only a half block away. The food is decent at 22 below. I like their taco salad and fried green beans. Its a good place to stop for lunch on a summer day.

My boyfriend and I started hitting Grand Haven for trips a couple years ago. This was the first place we had dinner based on a recommendation from the front desk staff at our hotel. We ended up going several times on each trip we took. The environment is a typical sports bar type place. It does have a cool porch with a few tables on it facing the musical fountain. The environment is pretty chill unless there is live music. We went last night and the live music was awful and disruptive to conversation. We normally stay for a couple drinks but left because of it. Otherwise, we like staying a while. The food is typical bar food. It’s pretty decent. The only disappointment is that there isn’t much on the menu. They could use to add some more stuff. We usually get a couple of appetizers and salad. I’ve had the burgers too. Most notably, I love the deep fried pickles and fried mac n cheese bites. Overall, the food is pretty good, the prices are definitely reasonable and the service has always been good.

We stopped here for a late lunch and so glad we did! The taco salad was wonderful and my husband had a stuffed hamburger that was full of melted cheese. We wish we had discovered this place earlier in our trip do we could have gone back to it again.

This place is delishous! We’ve always had good experiences here and would love for lots of people to come to it. The pineapple burger is really good but the pineapple is not very fresh and it tasted frozen. I would still come here though. I really loved it and would come back again.

We enjoyed the spicy green beans and southwest chicken egg rolls. Both were delicious and cooked to perfection. For being fried, they were not greasy at all. They had Perrin’s Kona Brown on draft. Very great service !

We have been to this place a couple of times — once when it was completely empty in the middle of the day and we just went for lunch. We liked the food, the atmosphere, and the owner was very personable. We decided to come back one night for drinks and we sat at the bar. Great service, friendly staff. Great place for drinks and bar food!

Worst dining experience of my life! I would give zero stars if I could. I knew I should have turned around and walked out when I saw the ripped and torn barstools. Bad omen. Unfortunately, I was in a group of six and would keep my fears to myself. Things started ok. The waitress took our drink orders. I ordered a Black and Tan which the bartender screwed up – it was all black, no tan. I could accept this but decided at this point to only eat an appetizer, in order to test the proverbial waters. I ordered the alligator bites, which they naturally didn’t have. That was ok because it probably saved me from a case of food poisoning. So I settled on chicken tenders. And the wait began. After an hour we questioned what the problem was. The waitress informed us that it wasn’t her fault. The kitchen was backed up she said. I didn’t really care for her defensive attitude and our group was getting ready to depart. A few minutes later, half of the orders arrived. My chicken tenders arrived and were hot, but tasted slightly moldly. On inspection, they did not consist of chicken breast, but were made of processed chicken. I am sure they were purchased from Gordon foods. The other two of my party of six received their cold grinders with particulated chicken(when the menu indicated chicken breast) and lukewarm tater tots. Now the other three in my party were incensed. When their burgers arrived about 15 minutes later, the orders were mixed up. The waitress should have remedied the mix up before the plates were served. At this point we asked to speak with the manager. She arrived at our table with a flippant attitude. This did not go over well, but once everyone calmed(no table flipping occurred), the manager did offer to pay for our meals. This was accepted because the food, although not putrid, was bad. The waitress also covered our drinks and at the end of the encounter, I felt sorry for her predicament. We left cash to cover our drinks. Unfortunately, I will not return and I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. It is sad that so many of these tourist traps have popped up on Grand Haven.

This bar/restaurant has an amazing translucent bar that continuously changes colors. You can set your drink on little cooler coasters built right into the bar that keep your beverage cold. It’s a large space with decent food and very friendly service. Been there several times and not had a bad trip yet… It’s become a favorite of ours… Oh, and plenty of big screen TV’s for sports fans too.

Pretty good greasy food — better than I expected and the staff was very helpful in accommodating my friend and I with a baby and 3 kids. THANKYOU! Fun place to go at night for drinks and dancing if your in the mood.

Excellent bar food(seriously, what do you expect, 5 star business attire food?) Excellent prices. Great service. I love the ambiance the bar has. I will definitely come here every time I’m in Grand Haven, it certainly beats the other bars I’ve been to. Only sit at the bar. The rest of the restaurant(tables) could use some work and polish it up with better décor, but the service, food, and prices were excellent.

I’m not going to pick this place apart like most reviewers do, everyplace you go to will have it’s faults. I thought beer selection was adequate, food was good & the prices were very reasonable. It was clean and decorated nice. One complaint I have is everything we ordered came out cool — just shy of warm and not even close to hot. We had pizza & nachos so it was still good. Not sure if this is a regular occurrence or just a one time thing…

This is a review for drinks only. We stopped by and snagged a seat on the small patio. The vibe we got from 22 below was this: –Of age drinkers that come here with their families and look to 22 Below to deliver on the bar-type atmosphere that have in their own hometown or city. And/Or –Locals who may or may not have a drinking problem. I only say this because of the clientel, chain-smoking outside and the woman who fell over twice in front of everyone at 7:30pm. The staff is ok, not too lively and it’s just regular bar food. Drinks, however, are awesomely priced for this Chicagoan. Tall boy for about $ 4 of good craft beer. If you’re young, this is probably your spot to get hammered and watch some games. If you want a classy night out or a quiet night out, I wouldn’t necessarily stop iin unless it’s for a beer pre-meal time somewhere else.

I was excited for a new restaurant in Grand Haven as the town is sorely in need of a place with great food. 22 Below has typical bar food. I had the triple decker grilled cheese with bacon. The cheese in my sandwich tasted like regular Kraft slices. A great cheddar would make it much better. I also felt like the extra slice of bread was unnecessary and took away from the cheesiness of the sandwich. However, the onion rings on the side were great. My husband didn’t rave about his cheeseburger and was disappointed that the kitchen was all out of fries. How does a sport’s bar run out of fries? I also found the décor to be a bit bland and uninspired. The bar itself looks cool, but the tables and chairs are a bit cafeteria-like. We also are not fans of the country music playing in the background. 22 Below does have nice views of the channel – it will be interesting to see what it’s like in the summer with the windows open.

My buddy wanted to watch the Bulls game at a bar, but it was on at the same time as the Wings game. His solution? Dinner at a sports bar. 22 Below reminds me of a joint you’d see in Lincoln Park in Chicago — lots of low lights, chrome, and huge TVs. To be honest, it felt a little out of place given the homey nature of the rest of Grand Haven. Don’t go here if you’re looking for anything healthy to eat. Not going to happen. But the food was ok, and they offered tots or onion rings as options with their burgers, which I appreciate as someone who isn’t a big fan of fries. The beer list kinda stunk(I hate it when beer lists stink in Michigan, as there are so many good microbrews that are local). Service was good.

I didn’t really want to like this place. How dare a new place open up to compete with Kirby, Tip, etc. and succeed — even without the summer traffic?! The first couple of times I went here, I was unimpressed with their beer and food menu but both have improved and their pizzas are pretty good. The beer menu is still a little limited(how many variations of Anheuser-Busch products do you really need?) but the drinks are cheap, at least. This place will be a zoo in the summer with the beautiful people and us locals will get pissed about waiting in line to get a drink. There are some folding doors that face Harbor Ave that will open up to let the summer air in and the music out and that will bring in more people too. Lots of TV’s but they seem out of place — the décor doesn’t really go along with a sports bar. Just Joe plays there occasionally so he bumps my rating up to 4 stars.
