This is a wonderful store — you don’t find many independently owned stores anymore and this place is great! We managed to pick up several books while on vacation — the staff is fun to visit with and get recommendations and it’s always fun to find some great reads in the used book section. The floors creak and it is full of charm — it is so important to support local businesses.

This is a nice little bookstore. They have a back room with a respectable number of used paperbacks and an extensive magazine rack with something of interest to almost anyone. It is a small store, so if you are looking for something in particular you will be lucky to find it. However, the associates are quite friendly and always offer to special order whatever they don’t have. For me, this place is more preferable as a place to browse and find something new to read. I have browsed around and found a few books that became personal favorites here, that I might not have found in a mega-store or online. The fact that the workers place recommendation cards around the store is also a nice, personable touch. They carry a modest selection of new titles — best sellers, local history, humor, classics, sci-fi/genre, tween, how-to, etc etc. I do wish they sold comic books. Their graphic novel supply is small with a scattered array of less than twenty manga and mixed big name titles. So if you want to get a comic fix this isn’t the place to look. Other than that, the place is clean, has free coffee for customers, and the workers are always smiling and seem very intelligent and willing to help.

Loved it. They have all the latest mags in a long rack on one wall, decent kids section, local history section, and a little bit of everything else. Before I knew it we’d dropped $ 75 on books, like decent/recent, not just random used stuff. Staff was quite friendly, spent some time chatting about the area and beaches and such. Also nice place to go while you’re waiting for a table at Morning Star to open up ;)

A nice bookstore, that makes you feel great about reading because it’s privately owned. I’m always able to find a great book when I visit and I like to pop in when I’m waiting for a table at the morning star.

Awesome independent bookstore with huge selection of books, plenty of new releases & best sellers, great kids’ section, tons of magazines, a special shelf of local/regional/Michigan books, and I think there’s even a used book shelf in there too. All that wrapped up with friendly service and good conversation.
