US Post Office

Our U.S. Post Office may be fine in Grand Junction, but our mail person leaves much to be desired. She just stuffed an envelope into our box and bent a book inside. At the same time she delivered a small box to the porch. Now why couldn’t she have brought the envelope to the front door too? This is not the first time she has done something like this. We have even talked to her about when she delivers a package to the door, bring all the mail. Usually it is no big deal, but this time she bent a book meant as a gift. There, I got that off my chest. We also see this person going up and down the street the same day because she misses things and has to go back. What kind of training do they give? This person has been our mail person for over a year. We miss our old person! And we miss the sub they had for our old person but he didn’t get this route because he didn’t have the seniority even though he knew the route better. This gal is hopeless.

Truly impressive customer service at the counter. I went in with a box to mail. The clerk calculated that it would cost $ 25 to ship as is, but after I described what was inside, he gave me all the necessary materials (tape, box, etc.) to re-​pack my items right there into a smaller Postal-​service box that I could ship for $ 14, and then gave me a bunch of boxes like that one, for free. That clerk really cared. He took the time to really help me and saved me a ton of $$. Go, U.S.P.S.

There is almost always a line out the door, literally! It doesn’t matter what time of day or what season it is, there is always a huge line and several unattended work stations. The workers are friendly enough, but unless you have twenty minutes to kill I recommend using a different post office. I feel sorry for people with bosses that send them to the post office on their lunch hour.
Here’s my quick tip: If you’re sending a package and print and apply the label yourself, you can «cut» the line and drop it off at the first station right inside the door.

Super clean, pleasant staff, and they even have quite a few stations to open your mail if you have a PO Box there. I consistently get people’s mail that isn’t mine, so who knows if they post your name on the other side of the box, but they do have a drop box by the main mail boxes for that.
As per usual, it is super busy during lunch hours, and from about 4 until close.
Note: They have several ’10 minute’ parking spaces on 4^th street. Also, if you have a PO Box here, the zip code is 81 502.

Automated after hours and very friendly during open hours.
Plenty of PO Boxes and located in downtown Grand Junction.
