I found Beauty Concepts as a result of last minute plans. I have had my hair braided here twice in one month. I opted coming back because the other’s I was referred to were booked a few weeks out. Valerie is nice and that’s as far as the service goes.
The first visit I waited an hour to have someone start on my hair. I waited patiently as she called several women to come to work. The establishment had been open however, she was the only one present. While waiting I picked out hair and a style. Another hour had passed and Valerie decided to start on my hair herself. Once the women started coming in three hours later I finally had three women including Valerie on my hair. During the process I ended up with Singlalese Twist. I had to constantly remind Valerie and her assistants that I wanted the braids long down my back and full. It took 7hrs. The prices were a little much yet I paid and returned that evening for additional service rendered on a child. We were in and out in a timely fashion despite the weather, lack of staff and Valerie was the last one working on her hair. I did had to constantly remind her of the amount of hair and the length. I felt like Valerie was constantly trying to save hair and over charge. I paid $ 250.00 for my braids and $ 200.00 for my child’s box braids.
Two wks later my braids were loose & 3wks later they were coming out. I returned to have the edges redone due to slipping of braids. It would be a $ 100.00 or more according to the quote I was given in person. I decided it was better to have it redone.
As of yesterday still in the same month of April I returned because I ran into the booking issue once again and I booked online an hour in advance (last minute). This time I had pricing information and hairstyles ready to go. I would walk out with what I requested so I thought.
I called to confirm since I received a email confirmation. Valerie stated she had not logged into her email and she was not aware of the appointment and apologized. She informed me it was okay and to come on in. I spoke directly with Valerie and explained I had been there three weeks earlier. Also, I inquired about the price of Kinky Twist which started at $ 130.00+ according to online prices. Valerie insisted I come on in stated it depends on hair and other things. Fair enough I came and I was placed in a chair fairly quickly upon arrival.
I explained my reason for returning so soon. She remembered me from a few weeks prior. The ladies weren’t prepared to start on my hair. After a thirty minute delay they eventually started…
My issue’s with the second visit… I had to tell Valerie and the two ladies placed on my hair I wanted just Kinky Twist nothing more slightly above my bra strap and not too thin (for take down reasons) so again they started braiding small… very small and I assumed it was edges only. I informed them the size fid not need to be that small, again and throughout the process. I was a given three bags of hair that looked like one bag of hair that had been cut into fourths and placed unevenly to make the hair appear as more. Valerie had to redirect and correct the ladies several times. My patience were leaving at this point. She asked if the size was okay. I told her it was fine due to the amount that were already done they would have to start over! I can deal with the edges being somewhat smaller than normal but the entire head was a jaw dropper. I look like a eight year old child.
Long story short Valarie left several times in the process of doing a crochet sew-​in so I assumed she would be returning. Well, the ladies were done and I asked for pricing twice. I thought after the mistakes that were made attempting to do simple Kinky Twist Valerie would have reasonable prices. I was told $ 250.00 so I was a little shocked! I spoke with her over the phone and explained my issues which she found humorous and continued explaining the short length of the braids, my hair, and hair provided were the reasons for the price. The size was wrong, the Kinky Twist had to be corrected about 3 – 4 times by her for the ladies to correct, the length was shorter than what I requested, and not enough hair was used. I did decide to pay for services rendered even after she offered a 10% discount. To top it off it hasn’t been 24hrs and a few of my braids are loose again! I have to drive back up there to correct this issue.
Honestly, I have waisted $ 750.00 dollars and over 12 hours on shabby work. I am disappointed that she intentionally over priced her services for the work. It’s not bad but it’s also not great especially if the work doesn’t last. I can’t say I will be returning or referring anyone. For the constant issue’s and problems with prices the 2^nd time I gave 2 stars. 1 star for same day availability and 2^nd star for being friendly enough.

I was skeptical that I would find someone to do my hair that very same day, but I got lucky! Very professional and friendly. They were able to fit me in and I walked out looking great! I just showed them a picture of the hairstyle I wanted and sat back and relaxed. Would definitely go back again.

This was my first time getting my hair done at Beauty Concepts Salon. The owner was very nice and easy to work with. We spoke on the phone first and she asked me to text her a pic of what I would like done. She was able to quote me a price after seeing the pic. We scheduled a consult and actual appointment via text.
The salon is clean, comfortable and well organized.
Nina, the woman that did my hair did an absolutely fantastic job on my braids! She was fast! I got tons of compliments!

If your looking for a braider look no further Valeria and her assistants have excellent braiding skills. Prices are resonable, hair questions and request are easily discussed and most important to me –there is no wasted time sitting around waiting. When your at Beauty Concept’s braiders, hairstylist, and barbers are all friendly and professional which makes the atmosphere there welcoming.
