Nice atmosphere, a bit pricey compared to other GR breakfast joints. Good coffee. Pancakes were not good and undercooked. Waiter was annoying, too many drive-by questions and interruptions.

This is what I imagine a restaurant in heaven looks like. Beautifully whimsical décor with an extremely friendly staff. The menu is mouth-watering. They have a seasonal menu that looked scrumptious. We truly enjoyed ourselves. The food was amazing. Look at the pics. I could eat there everyday and have something different and incredible every time. Ask for Marne, she’s like the sister I never had. The GM came over and talked with us and treated us like old friends. I love this place. I’ll be there on the way back from vacation.

The really good food options will work with anyone’s dietary needs! The staff and management are very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is clean and has a great feel. This area has needed a good breakfast spot for years… Now we have one ;)

Service was excellent, thank you Paige!!! The western omlete was great with fresh ingredients and a little twist with sausage gravy on top. For a dollar more you can get your oj fresh squeezed, well worth it in my opinion. Wife ordered the cornned beef hash and let me tell you folks; it was the real deal. Fresh, scratch made corned beef was amazing, if it’s on anything they offer get it!!! Expect a wait on the weekend but you’ll be glad you waited for this.

I eat vegan healthy. Anna’s has a tempeh burger which I wanted to try, never having had tempeh. I ordered it with kale chips instead of potato chips. After the food didn’t arrive for 25 minutes I asked the waitress what was taking so long. All she said is it will be out anytime now. It arrived after 10 more minutes. Is tempeh always this bad? Cardboard would have been better. Zero flavor. Not even salt and pepper helped. Instead of kale chips they brought potato chips. So the plate went back and came with kale chips 5 minutes later. At the end I asked the waitress why the meal took so long to come out. «the tempeh patty has to be thawed»! At least she was honest, but could have told me so at the beginning, so I could make a different choice. Not returning to this place. I guess American restaurants, while they have started to carry dishes to cater to the growing Veg/vegan demand have a long way to go before their dishes get flavorful. I’m sticking to Indian, Lebanese, Thai, Greek in the meantime.

Love love love love love! Wonderful 50s style diner with a tasty take on today’s breakfast and lunch menus. We have been to all the Grand Rapids locations, Holland, and Grandville… not a single one was out of sync with the other! :) Friendly and timely service with delightfully prepared food at each place. They don’t skip a beat!

Expect a wait on the weekend, great breakfast. Awesome friendly waitstaff and nice cozy atmosphere. I tried the siracha sandy this morning. A little too spicy, covered in siracha. But they have so many good other options. Plus coffee to go? Umm I think so!

This place is extraordinary. The coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice is on point and you can pretty much order anything off their menu and be pleased with it. I have ordered a few seasonal dishes and the chicken and waffles. They are all filling and delicious. Prices are a little on the more pricey side but not too bad. If you plan on going on the weekend plan on having to wait in a line, it’s a popular breakfast spot.

You feel comfortable when you walk in the door. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. We shared a giant cinnamon roll to start and it was enough for 3 people with leftovers! Not only was it huge, but it was gooey, freshly made and delicious! I had the tater tot casserole with chicken sausage. I would absolutely order this again. Cheesy tater tots topped with cheese, sausage, eggs, sour cream and scallions. You need to try it!

I have found time and time again that young people get bad service at restaurants. I don’t know why, probably because they think people in their 20s don’t tip, but I always do at least 20%. My service was definitely mediocre here. I was meeting a friend for breakfast and got seated in a table right in the middle where everyone has to walk past(there were several booths available and other 2 person tables that were against the wall). Got bumped into twice, really this was the worst place possible to sit I’m not sure why there was even a table there. It took 40 minutes to get breakfast. My coffee was poured when I ordered it and then never refilled again(was there for over 1 hour). Only reason they get 2 stars is because the food was very good.

Finally! I said shouting to the heavens, I did it! My life is complete and I am filled to the brim with satisfaction! I can now safely move on to what lies ahead, beyond the great unknown… take me now! …oh, wait no, it was just the daunting experience of an overly hyped breakfast joint. My apologies, I sometimes have this problem with places like this, it’s not them it’s me! Seems no matter how hard of an effort I make, I can never go into these ‘better than life’ type restaurants without bringing out the bad in them. My sig-other hates it! She will have a grand ol’ time, then bring me in only to bring out the worst in the place. Thus my story begins… It’s practically a blizzard out so I figure let’s use that gift cert for Anna’s house. We find our way to the door and jump on in. There was a good amount of people here but not packed thus no wait. I was so eager to get that big cup of their infamous coffee in my hands. After a short moment, we were brought to our booth and we wait. And wait. And wait. We take turns getting up to go to the restroom and I realize that there are more people working here than there are customers. Back at the table we wait… And wait. And wait. I finally get up, go to the breakfast bar and ask the host for a couple cups of coffee. This really threw her off thinking why is this strange man asking me for coffee. «You mean to go?» she asked. I explained that we had set up camp over at that booth and just wanted some coffee to shake off the blizzard while we wait. I get a couple big cups of black goodness and head back to home base. The coffee was OK, acidic and winey. After some time the host comes up to our table re-fills our coffees and pleads with us on how sorry she is that her computer busted and therefore she could not take our orders. I sincerely accepted the apology and it was completely OK since we had the coffees now anyhow. Computers going down evidently not only stop airport flights but can also suspend dining orders as well. I ended up going with the Western Omelet, sausage gravy on the side. I was baffled on how none of the omelets came with potatoes so I ordered a side of American potatoes w/cheese please. My sig-other went with the First Class Olive Burger with house chips. As soon as she said the words olive burger I felt left out. That burger totally sounded better but no, this is a famous breakfast joint so I’ll stick to my order. Shortly after licking the bottom of my empty coffee cup our food arrives. It was pleasantly presentable. The potatoes took center stage and immediately grabbed both our attention. The omelet was just OK. The filling ingredients were disappointing, they seemed factory processed and not freshly prepared. Everything was cut micro-small and exactly the same, obviously by some food processing machine. I had the same pre-prepared food bits in my freezer from Gordon Foods at home. The sausage gravy was good but cold. The side of potatoes where awesome. Her olive burger was cooked to perfection, well done yet bloody red inside. The bun was toasted and delicious. The burger was very good with one exception, the olives were crazy salty. I myself cannot get enough salt and I thought it was salty! While we were eating I noticed a couple of men outside walking toward the building’s entrance. They entered talking a long time to getting through the door. Bringing in all their tools and a bunch of cold blizzard chill that swept through then entire place, flushing out any hope for warmth. I quickly notice the men with purpose coming our way and bringing along huge ladders. They were obviously cold, tired but on a mission. Working men with ladders, now next to use reaching up in the ceiling. My Anna’s House brunch visual now completely changed from a first class bloody burger to a man’s protruding large sweaty bare belly above me doing god knows what inside the ceiling. I was practically under him so I had front row seating. His co-worker is a few tiles down and I’m perplexed that the staff doesn’t put a towel under the none-stop flow of melting snow pouring from their work boots onto the dining tables. We continued on with our brunch and conversation but my eating visuals shifted from the naked front belly area to the exposed junction in behind, I think to myself REALLY?! Don’t get me wrong, I am a man of labor myself but they can’t do this after hours? We finished our brunch and it was OK but something tells me there must be some other gem to this place that I did not discover. I’ve had a better experience at Denny’s but then again maybe it’s just my curse that brings out the worst in what is supposed to be the best.

I don’t get the hype. The wait is long, our service is slow, and food was meh. Coffee was good at least. We won’t be back. (Is it just me or do the eggs taste like they were cracked open by the dozens at 5am and left to sit in a large bin all morning? The eggs do not taste fresh.)

I decided to stop in at yet another Anna’s location and I must say, they did not disappoint! I had the chicken sausage tater tot casserole and it really did hit the spot for a comfort food. It is a bit heavy though so if you aren’t in the mood for comfort food, go for something lighter. Their portion sizes are insane so be ready to eat! Kiaira is also a fantastic server who does her job with a smile and I love that! I love how the food here is all natural and that I can order a non pork-based sausage, please don’t ever change that! I also love that Unilocalers get to take advantage of a coupon, that’s awesome too! I would come back again and again and bring friends! I didn’t give 5 stars only because my egg was over cooked. I like my yoke to flow out over my potatoes. ;)

This place was cute. I took my mom and she really enjoyed the beachy cottage feel. I was not overly impressed with the food though. It wasn’t bad by any means, but not as spectacular as I was hoping. The staff was attentive and friendly. And there’s really nothing wrong with Anna’s house. It just failed to impress me enough to give it more than 3 stars

I like the atmosphere. It’s retro, bright and inviting. Both food and service were just OK. We arrived early to beat the weekend crowds. I was happy to see the menu offered a variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options. I tried their corned beef hash skillet with a side of gluten-free toast and a cup of coffee. The hash was just so-so. Standard corned beef, green peppers, potatoes and mushrooms topped with two over easy eggs. I found the eggs to have a funny flavor to them. Could of been the cooking oil used? Their coffee was above average and our server topped our mugs off in a timely manner. The gluten-free toast was fairly good as GF toast goes. Even with this Anna’s location being so new, the décor rings of nostalgia. It’s worth a try but I would not consider it the best breakfast spot in Grand Rapids by any measure.

Anna’s gives a very good impression. It’s next to Woodland Mall and has a very inviting décor. It simple, yet 1960 modern. It reminds me of Julia Child’s kitchen in the National American History Museum in Washington, DC. However, looks can be deceiving. The food is your basic mid-western American breakfast, but quality isn’t their specialty. My friends ordered the eggs and hash browns and the hash browns were obviously from a frozen bag. How can you mess up hash browns? I ordered their pancakes with M & Ms and enjoyed that, but I’d like anything with chocolate in it. If you want a sub par standard American breakfast, get here early enough so you don’t have to wait in line. If you want quality breakfast, go somewhere else.

I really wanted to like this place, but I can’t. I had heard from person after person how great Anna’s House is, so when I scored a coupon, the husband and I decided to give it a try. Let me start off by saying the service is fine, and the décor, so bright and cheery, is cute. I also love the 50s soundtrack. We went on a Sunday morning. The place was bustling, but we were seated *very* quickly, considering(~3 minutes). I settled on two red velvet pancakes with a side of bacon, while my husband ordered the biscuits and gravy with hash browns. The presentation of my meal was pretty pitiful – just two little red pancakes with a thing of butter on the side. That was all.(Had this been Real Food, the pancakes would have had whipped cream, sliced bananas, drizzled chocolate and more.) I’m not saying elaborate is always better, but it was just a very sad-looking dish. However, they did taste ok, and the bacon was fine. I sampled my husband’s hash browns, and they were totally void of flavor. I’m pretty sure they even forgot to salt them – so disappointing. The biscuit and gravy had some flavor, thankfully, but it wasn’t enough to save the meal. Finally, we got our check. Yikes. $ 3 for a tiny glass of chocolate milk(regular store-bought quality). $ 3 for a tiny glass of OJ(and not the fresh squeezed kind). We spent about $ 30 pre-tip, and left unsatiated and overall disappointed with our experience. I didn’t hate Anna’s House; they simply didn’t live up to the hype. I probably won’t be back.

So after all the hype I heard about this place I finally had a chance to try it & this is what I thought of our experience. DATEOFVISIT: October, 2015 TIMEFRAME: around 12:45pm LOCATION: On the West side of the East Beltline just North of 28th Street.(Right by Woodland Mall. RESTAURANT: Clean, they have some cute décor that goes with their whole retro theme. STAFF: The girl that sat us was nice, our waitress was nice & attentive. She helped us with ordering(like putting the sauce for the chicken & waffles on the side just incase I didn’t like it). FOOD: It’s ok at best. Chicken & Waffles — waffle was fine(nothing special, even though it said it was a «Malted waffle» not sure what that meant but tasted like all other waffles I have eaten), now here is where they get you, it says served with Crispy chicken well I thought it would be like normal chicken & waffles being the chicken part would be with bone in(you know what I am talking about!), not even close, these are TINY, I mean tiny chicken«strips» if I can even call them that!!! The chicken was SODRY(which I think is because they looked over cooked) & bland. Maple cream sauce was ok but didn’t like it with the waffle but ok to dip my dry chicken strips in. My eggs I ordered scrambled and they were the most bland eggs I have tasted. This cost me $ 9.50(w/o tax) not worth the price. The Big Breakfast — 3 eggs were ordered over easy was fine. Ham had a really nice flavor. Sausage links were good, bacon good, potatoes were ok(needed seasoning), pancakes were fine, basic limp pancakes. This meal was alright, cost was $ 11.00(w/o tax) but not worth the price. OVERALL: It’s ok, nothing special, not at all what I expected from all the hype this place gets. Prices are greatly inflated for what you get. Would I return, probably not based solely on the food quality & prices for what you get.

While planning our trip to Michigan I found Anna’s House on the Unilocal App and knew we had to check it out. We really lucked out as there was no wait and we were seated immediately. Upon entering I fell in love with the décor. The light paint colors and all of the natural light made it feel like we were at someone’s home having a nice summer lunch. The bathroom was pretty cool too. A few minutes after we were seated our waitress came over and took our drink orders. I went with the Becker Melt. It consists of ham, turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, grilled onion, tomato and mayo on grilled Texas Toast. It was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life! The hot ham, turkey and bacon covered in melted Swiss and cheddar cheese really made the sandwich and I love the fact that the Texas Toast was lightly grilled giving the bread the strength it needed to not fall apart and turn the sandwich into a mess. The fresh squeezed orange juice is very good as well. My wife got the Spicy Baja Turkey Jack Panini. It had turkey, tomato, avocado, pepper jack cheese and Jalapeño Cumin Mayo on Ciabatta bread. She absolutely loved it! Our daughter got the House Burger. It features a 6oz all beef patty served on a Brioche Bun topped with your choice of cheese, mayo, ketchup, mustard, bacon, onion, pickles, lettuce and tomato. She absolutely loved it as well! Be sure to «check in» on the Unilocal App to receive $ 2 off an entrée with a beverage purchase. Even though the place was packed the service we received was excellent. I highly recommend Anna’s House. This small local chain is another must stop if you are ever in Grand Rapids.
