Only good things to say about this company! We had pipes full of roots and needed to replace. They came out the same day (within a few hours of calling them) and gave me a quote. They started work the next day and even coordinated some things with the city.
Very professional, courteous and responsive to my many questions. They do an excellent job!

Hired them to install a washer hookup in my condo. First problem: the guy who installed it mixed up the hot and cold pipes. Second problem: I got home from work that night and they had broken a pipe and my kitchen and living room were flooded with water. They sent someone out (after about an hour) to fix the broken pipe, which was still spewing water all over. The hired a company to come in a dry the place and repair damage to the floors, and boy do I have a list of complaints about them. The worst being that I had to leave one day since they got there late (not the first time) and I gave one guy a key so he could go get the guy who was supposed to show up and so the guy could lock up while he went to get him. They did the work and then TOOK my key with them without informing me! I had to text them and ask where it was! (This was the company that McDonald saw fit to hire… tells you a lot about them.) I asked for compensation because my heat was cranked up and my electricity used to dry the place, causing my bills to go up. I also did not have access to my kitchen because of the equipment and the fact that it was 90+ degrees in there, so I had to buy food at work for a week. You know what the owner said? «I’ve never been asked about compensation before.» Really? I have not seen any follow up from them either. I’m tired of harassing them to fix their mistake, and I’m sure they probably hoped I would forget about it so they can keep their money.
So If you want to pay $ 480 for a washer hookup and a pain in the butt issue that lasts over 3 months, then please, call this company. I wouldn’t do it again.

I contacted McDonald plumbing with regard to several issues at my residence in Grand Rapids. My sump pump had failed, and despite my back-​up system continuing to mitigate the high water table, I needed to have a replacement put in. More critically, I had a (suspected) main sewer line draining issue that needed to be looked at — this would likely involve the use of the snake-​and-​camera cable cleaning.
I called several places trying to get someone out as soon as possible. Most companies were out until the next week. McDonalds came out the same day that I called. Don C. was on site as promised, on time, and got to work diagnosing right away.
I was given a quote for the services on the phone, and once they identified that the main line had heavy roots issues, Don was sure to explain the issue before proceeding, and provided an updated quote.
The main sewer line was cleared out via cable cleaning, and Don gave me a detailed summary once complete. The sump pump was replaced with a high quality pump. I also had a spigot not working, and they repaired it free of extra charges.
While the services cost me a fair bit, I know that the damage in not dealing with these issues could have been much higher. Don and his partner were both knowledgeable and friendly and I feel confident in their work.
I would highly recommend McDonald Plumbing and plan on calling them for any future needs.
