Great neighborhood bar, excellent friendly staff, really cool FREELIVE music at the Otherside on weekends. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in charming brick road Eastown. Pool tables and juke box.

This is one of my favorite bars in Grand Rapids. It’s the neighborhood bar to Eastown and it makes you feel at home. There are cheap drinks(a pitcher of PBR for $ 4!!!) and great people! If you’re feeling sad come here with your friends and you’ll leave feeling better. I have made so many friends here, and have had some of the most memorable moments. Thanks for being the homey awesome bar you are. :) Eastown wouldn’t be the same without it!

Mulligan’s is a GR institution, an absolute shit show. A dive bar in every disgusting sense of the phrase. Spilled drinks, dirty beer, carpet, and nasty bathrooms(bring your own toilet paper) complete the look. Minus a star for not having popcorn anymore. The bartender filled my Jamo shots about two-thirds of the way full, but gave me a full pint of attitude when I asked her to fill ‘em up. Love it! Cheers

If you aren’t a stuck up prick this is the place to be. It’s dirty and terrible. You might get a handful of looks but nobody really cares. Walk in there dressed in overalls and a John Deere hat and you will get a mouthful from the staff, but all in fun. They don’t have popcorn anymore, and if you live there I’m sure you know the story why. There are gambling machines in there now too and I have no idea why. Like everyone else says cheap strong drinks and even cheaper specials. I’m a heavy drinker and if I hit a 30 dollar tab I am probably not going to remember the rest of the evening. The bands sound terrible because they play in a tiny room which just muffles all the sound together but it really just adds to the charm. Great place to meet up with friends and get wasted. Might want to make friends with someone who lives nearby to have a couch to pass out on. This is a truly great bar.

I like Mulligans, good atmosphere, friendly people, and quality drinks. Right across the street from some serious late night eats(yesterdog)

This place is foul. I wouldn’t touch anything or anyone in here with a 10 foot pole. Enough with all the hipsters and wannabes, already.

I love Mulligan’s. Cheap drinks, free popcorn, nice place. The place is always busy whenever I have gone there, which should be a good indicator of it being a good bar. Definitely my favorite bar.

Came here a couple of times when i was in college. Pretty hot. Place is definitely lively and spirited to say the least. Good drinks and friendly atmosphere. Largely people just want to have fun, drink, enjoy company, and dance. They got some pool tables upstairs as well for the anti-socials, like myself. =) Oh, do not wear any bandanas. They’ll make you take that right off.

Mulligan’s is quickly becoming one of my go to bars in the area. Strong drinks, competent bartenders, good drink specials and neat bands with no cover. There are alot of comments about it being smokey, but people need to remember that all the bars are smoke free now! Great for us nonsmokers. :) Regardless of the smoke-free atmosphere, this place really feel like a local, cheap, go to get drunk and have a good time type of place.

Cheap and very strong drinks. They tend to hire more experienced and therefore better bar tenders who can keep the patrons fueled. Missy might be the best bartender in GR. Mulligans has been my «home bar» for almost 20 years. It’s a eclectic crowd that I prefer during the day, too many Indie Posers at night. It’s a tougher crowd, but given that I can’t recall more than a hand full of fights I’ve seen there in all these years. It’s a more mature crowd who for the most part knows how to handle their booze. On some nights the crowd can seem a little cracked out too. Human sacrifice Tuesday’s can get a little crazy, make sure you wear your rain coat. Overall this is a great place with great people. Mulligans has a character all it’s own and the regulars there all know each other, but aren’t in your face either. It’s the only bar in GR where I can spend 2 hours just relaxing and feel totally in my skin without having to even make small talk with anyone there.

Be prepared to come out smelling of smoke… If you can get past that, I spent much of my early 20s here, and go back on occasion when I can get the old gang together. I’ve watched many close calls on wisely avoided one-night-stands… The main room has the Jukebox, the new(ish) back room«Otherside»(part of the old Intersection) is a neat idea, but they have yet to have had many bands back there that appeal to me. They have DJs some nights, live music others.

I used to really love Mulligan’s, but I’ve kind of gotten over it. I’m that into their music(metal, industrial, heavy stuff) and it’s pretty smokey, which I’m not into much anymore. It’s pretty packed too and hard to find a table most of the time. The good thing is that it’s pretty cheap and they make strong drinks.

Mulligan’s can get really, really packed – so much so that I’ve gotten cigarette burns while walking through the crowd. And like Crystal R said, you WILL walk out of there smelling like an ashtray… But the drinks are strooong and cheap, the clientele is diverse and chatty, and my friends and I always have a good time.(maybe because we’re trashed, I don’t know.) Also, if you want to bump into an old crush, this is where you should start. Because everyone comes to Mulligan’s.

I have heard so much about this joint from my eastown friends… so i was expecting a somewhat dive bar from the getgo. Not going to lie, when I walked in I was a little surprised to see the diversity of the clientele. I guess I was expected more of an indie kid scene, but to my surprise there was a healthy mix of bikers, bros, and scenesters. Almost every table was packed, but getting a drink was not a problem. I was also impressed with the cheap shots(minz $ 3). My whiskey and coke could have been stronger, but it still did the trick. Although the other reviews claim this to be a really smokey joint, I did not notice and in fact I was hesistant to light-up due to possibly offending other bar patrons. The bathrooms were decently tidy compared to the dark atmosphere swirling about the bar… I would gladly take a mulligan and do this night over again. and again. and again.

I have a love hate relationship with this joint. I grew up here, sneaking in to drink with my older friends since I was a teen. Not much has changed in the past ten years, besides the shift in generations. I believe they recently got a new ventilation system, so you will not develop cancer instantly, but it’s still pretty bad, and you’ll have to strip your clothes off outside your door when you get home unless you want your house to smell like a stale ashtray. Still the strongest, cheapest drinks in town, and you’re bound to run into at least one person you know.

Seemingly everyone’s favorite bar in Grand Rapids. I find this place overrated to an extent, but its convenient location(on Wealthy Street in Eastown) is nice. Plus, it’s dark and dingy and very social, which has its appeal. The clientele is diverse: lots of patrons from the greater Eastown area(which is very diverse itself). Hipsters, African-Americans, frat boys, punks, skinheads, metalheads, you name it. Sports are always on the big TV and pool is always being played. There are also some other arcade machines(even Galaga). The bar staff is usually pretty busy on weekends, so unless you know someone working there, it can be difficult to get your pint glass filled. But the cheap drinks and friendly atmosphere make up for the waits. It gets very smoky in here, though, so if that bothers you, you might want to imbibe elsewhere. Speaking of cheap drinks, this place has some of the cheapest at any bar in town. Pints of PBR are $ 1.50(and pitchers are $ 6); most other beers run around $ 2.50 and pitchers from $ 7 – 8. Everyone’s favorite Mulligan’s Stews(made of a delicious mix including Kaluha and Bacardi 151) are only a buck a piece. Watch the flaming shots as the newly 21 crowd tries to sip it down while trying not to gag on the flames. Good times.
