Hotel is nice enough and close to downtown. Staff is really nice and helpful. But, the facilities are a bit lacking. The hot tub, pool and sauna are all broken. Lounge is sketchy as well and needs some updates.

Large hotel with a nice lounge and resteraunt… Neither one heated on a very cold day that I was there. Room had a Craftmatic adjustable bed which I thought was classy that didn’t work and even though room was paid for by their local client, they insisted I deposit $ 50 with a credit card which I still haven’t been refunded! I went to their bar for the free comedy show an hour early, but after a couple drinks in an empty lounge decided that freezing my ass off on a bar stool having a comedian tell jokes to me and the bartender would be depressing, so I left before it started. I went to the resteraunt for breakfast at around 9 and the friendly waitress plugged in a space heater. The food was good. But again, a little space heater, even though it was next to me in a big cold room didn’t do it. Only other thing that was creepy was I never saw another customer, lodger, or even a car after dark. It was decorated nice but it was like«The Shining». The wing place down the street isn’t bad… And that’s all I know about Grand Rapids!

Our week stay at Riverfront was nice. When we arrived to the hotel we were greeted with friendly staff and checked in within minutes. When we arrived to our room it did smell of cigarette smoke, we contacted the front desk and we were immediately changed to another room which was great. Our new room was clean and had a fresh scent to it, we were very happy. When we would come and go the front desk always greeted us and even gave us Chocolates on Christmas. Our room was cleaned everyday which was nice and the hotel was surprisingly quiet with it being so close to the freeway. This hotel may not be fancy or updated with new furnishings, but I can say our stay was pleasant and the staff was very kind and helpful. And the elevator was not slow… haha

This is honestly one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at in my life. The atmosphere is dingy, the walls, carpets, elevator and rooms are so run down, and the beds are disgusting. Our first room we walked into clearly had been smoked in, and it was covered in febreze to mask the cigarette stench. Our second room had stains on the floors and we had just had enough at this point. For the money we spent, I was appalled. The only upside of this place was the staff. They were more than willing to accommodate us and were very apologetic. They refunded our money without hesitation and we found another hotel downtown.

Staying here was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve EVER had. I found long black hairs on my bed sheets, the room smelled terrible and the bathroom was gross. The towels had stains on them and I was too disgusted to use the shower(luckily I was only staying there one night so I was able to skip the shower for the day). The room was so gross that I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that all the maid did since the last person stayed there was make the bed(with dirty sheets) and restock the soap/shampoo. If all the wasn’t enough, after I was finally able to go to sleep I was woken up abruptly by the FIREALARMGOINGOFFAT4am. The fire alarm went off for about an hour from 4−5am… I was planning on staying here for a couple weeks as I will be in Grand Rapids for work for awhile, but needless to say I’ll be cancelling my reservation and making alternative arrangements.

After reading the reviews on here I was expecting a shit hole and Honestly the hotel isn’t that bad. We stayed while it was sold out for the BASSNECTAR concert which was at the delta plex(this hotel is very close and that’s why we chose it). If you were coming to Grand Rapids to go downtown and wanted a hotel within walking distance, then yeah this place is too far. We got two rooms right next to each other and I inspected each of them before anyone in our group arrived. Everything was clean and neither of the rooms smelled. Everything worked, the TV channels were pretty pathetic but we weren’t there to stay and hang out in the room, we were there for a place to get ready in and sleep later on. The hotel is a bit outdated. I was too tired at 4 am when we returned to the hotel to notice if the sleep number bed was uncomfortable. For what we needed this hotel for, it served its purpose well and we had a good time. Another thing to add is how excited I was to see how slow the elevator is based off of the hilarious reviews on here, but it actually wasn’t slow at all. I wouldn’t have even thought it was slow unless I read the reviews on here. Bummer!

Clean, good wi-fi, decent location for me, and reasonably priced. My only complaint is with the Sleep Number bed. If I had one of those at home I would have loved having one on the road. Since I do not have one at home, it was hard trying to find a number that I liked, and as a result I did not sleep very well the one night I was there. Wouldn’t stop me from staying there again, but it does put them at 3 stars.

As I approached the hotel once I got off the freeway I took a good look at the hotel and was immediately disappointed. It looks like a run down apartment building which the website pictures don’t portray. Their site portrays this place in a whole different way and it’s no where near the downtown neighborhood. I was expecting to be able to be able to walk to grab dinner somewhere near downtown. That would have been one hell of a long walk had I chosen that route. The front desk attendant was friendly and the check-in process was a breeze. She checked me in and I was on my way to the elevator. Once I got to the elevator it took quite some time for it to creekily make its way back down to ground level. Got inside and didn’t think I’d make it to the 4th floor. But I ended up making it but it just took awhile. I got in to my room and again was disappointed by the lack of cleanliness, the odor in the room and the 70’s décor. It’s no longer a smoking room but it still smells of cigarettes and mildew. I pulled the covers back and there were two long black hairs… Not my cup of tea. I quickly headed downstairs to their restaurant bar. Again… another dirty area in the hotel. Dark and dingy bar with tv’s the size of my hand littered around the room. I ordered a beer and once I got it had to immediately start wrestling the gnats away from the glass. One ended up making it in to my glass(he was a tough SOB, must have been a veteran) while I was turned around watching the TV(they don’t have TV’s at the bar which is weird to me). I showed the bartender the gnat and got another beer. The staff didn’t seem to mind that profanity isn’t a solid trait of anyone working behind a bar and talked with each other like no one else was around. Very professional guys. I quickly pounded that gnatless beer and headed back to my room. I unpacked and did some work on my laptop. After awhile I went to turn the heat up(it’s 46 degrees outside) and the thermostat didn’t work. I went over to the heater and tried turning it on there, no go on that. Called downstairs and they told me they’d call me back with an option. Called back after a short time and moved me to a room on the same floor. Again, dirty room and dirty comforter. At this point I’m too tired to call the front desk again after a 4 ½ hour drive so I just gave up on my Thursday night. Next time I make a trip to Grand Rapids I’ll make sure to drop more of my companies money on my usual Hilton property. WARNING… Do NOT stay here!!!

Really the only good thing about this hotel is that you feel like you’ve stepped into a time warp to the 1960s. Its kind of novel. The only reason you would want to stay here is if every other hotel in the Grand Rapids area is sold out. It too far outside of the downtown area to be walkable along the river(although there is a nice walking trail that goes north of downtown).

My husband and I took a much needed road trip through Michigan, with Grand Rapids being our last stop before returning to Illinois. This was the worst stay of any hotel ever, not just this trip. We were assigned a room with a «Sleep Number» bed without asking us if we would like this, we didn’t even know it was an option until we went to bed. It was late and we didn’t want to have to change rooms, so tried to figure out this bed. Spent a really bad night thinking that there was not another option. In the morning, we both wanted to take a shower and get out of there. No stops even for breakfast or coffee. New surprise — there is no hot water. We let the water run for a half hour, never got hot. We got out of there as soon as we could pack up. When we got to the desk, and voiced our concerns, the clerk tried to make us feel like it was our fault for not calling the desk! They would have been happy to change our room, at midnight in our pj;s? Really? It was also somehow our fault that we couldn’t have hot water for showers. All we would have had to do was call the desk and they would call the maintenance man to power up the boiler. What? The clerk gave us Kaylee’s card and we did check in with her from home later in the afternoon. She was every bit as unhelpful as the desk clerk was. Tried to make us feel that it was our fault for not calling the desk about our issues. These issues shouldn’t even be happening in the first place. We fulfilled our part of the bargain by paying 120.00 for this room. In my estimation, the hotel fell far short of fulfilling their part of the bargain. We should have been asked when we checking in if we would like a sleep number bed — it was never mentioned. And hot water in the morning? Come on, people. You should be wearing a burglars mask.

This place was okay. way over priced for what it is. We stopped to stay the night on a long road trip– so it was fine for that. I wouldn’t stay here for more than a night. There was mold in the shower and the room needs some TLC. On the up side, the staff are friendly!
