I’m glad that my little hidden gem has started to gain more attention! The food is absolutely delicious. This is my favorite place to get Pad Thai. The sauce is richer than other places, and they give you a hefty portion! It’s great food for a great price.

I like these guys. Good food, family run, very friendly. They give you salad and dessert with each meal. Wish they served beer.

I was on my way back to the airport from a client meeting. Found this on Unilocal.Food was very tasty and cooked to order. The vegetables were very fresh and the sauce they used was exactly what I had asked for. Very authentic Thai food. It’s really just a kitchen with a few tables. Most people come in for takeout. But it’s very clean and the wait staff is very friendly. I highly recommend.

Great restaurant, one of the best Thai places in town. I only wish it was closer to downtown where I live!

The highlights — Delicious, crispy spring roll that comes complimentary with your meal; nice sweet and sour sauce that came with it. Tom Kha soup was pretty good, too, and the food was hot and fresh. Spicy, sour, nutty pad thai that was totally delicious and spiced according to our order — a 7 out of 10. The tofu was cooked well and tasty. The lows — Chicken was a little dry and sketchy, sort of like they cooked it ahead of time and then threw it in the dishes. I did not care for the Lard Nar whatsoever; I meant to order Pad See-Ew and was confused. Woops! I assume that I don’t like Lard Nar, because judging from Google, it was pretty representative of the dish.

Seriously legit. Best Thai food ever. Great prices for large quantities of food. I go home with leftovers 99% of the time. Everything on their menu is perfection. Don’t waste your time eating at any other Thai place in Grand Rapids. Also the staff is great and friendly, and the food is always served quickly!

Wonderfully nice ladies cooking up very tasty food. Definitely is my default choice in the area for great Thai. I’ve so far gotten the drunken noodles, pad see ew, and pad thai. All were wonderful. Make sure to ask for the thick noodles where necessary.

Had the opportunity to do a two day review. Stopped for dinner one night and then lunch the very next day due to an appointment nearby. I have eaten dinner here before. Service took a while to take my order and the table that came in after ordered first. They only offer the curry noodles as a dinner portion so I went with that. Ordered medium which was just enough to get a little sweat going for me. Also ordered combo protein which included chicken, pork and tofu. Curry was a little on the watery side, I like thicker sauces. Included was a spring roll app and for dessert your choice of bite size cheesecake or an ice cream sandwich. This was a nice touch. Lunch menu I went with peanut curry, noodles instead of rice and chicken. Portion size was ok for the price, but wasn’t filling for me. The cheesecake bite afterwards made up for it because I usually do not have dessert at lunch. Spring roll was also included for an app. Fast and fresh, cute dessert, nice little local place.

I love Thai food is this little mom & pop, no frills place, was awesome! I’m visiting the area and found them through Unilocal, with very good reviews. …now I know why! The Sweetened Iced Thai coffee was just right!(And I don’t use sweeteners in my beverages!) Free refills too! My appetizer was Fried Tofu. The accompanying chili sauce added sweetness but no(real) heat. The sweet sauce for the spring roll was light and not overly sweet. My entrée was Pad Phet. Oh Gosh! It was awesome! I was stuffed; took leftovers. My meal ended with a small cube of cheesecake(other option was ice cream). The bill came with a standard fortune cookie and a small dish of butter mints! Definitely the place to visit if in the area and wanting Thai food. Meal incl the spring roll, entrée and sweet/dessert at end. …for $ 8.95! A true bargain! Oh yes, free wi-fi; ask for the password. The ladies working there were friendly and welcoming. Came back next day for lunch. Had the Peanut Curry, it was great!

I was in town for work and my boss and I needed a quick place for lunch. Unilocal directed us here– if this is a 5 star Thai restaurant in Grand Rapids, I’m sticking to Chicago. This was the equivalent of Panda Express for Thai food. It was fine. Not terrible, but certainly not good. But it’s cheap– seemed like most people were there for lunch from the office. Service was fast. Food is cheap. That’s about all I can say.

Thai Express is a nice option for lunch if you work nearby. The service is always fast whenever I go here. I’ve had the curry pad Thai, which is drier(less saucy) than I like, and the drunken noodles, which were very good, flavorful but not overly salty. You get a salad, spring roll and dessert(cheesecake bite or ice cream) when you dine in. This is not the best Thai food in the greater Grand Rapids area, but it makes for a good lunch, especially if you want to change it up a bit. I come here about once a month.

Way better food than the name of Thai Express might indicate! Top notch Thai food, no question! I got the Drunken Noodle, my wife ordered something by its number, not the name of the dish, so I’ve forgotten what it was(lol), my sister got a soup dish. Drunken Noodles was amazing! My wife’s was very good and she definitely enjoyed it. My sister liked hers as well. The Thai tea is so good, and they have free refills(how amazing!). They also bring out a spring roll before the main dish, which was steaming-hot and tasty. On top of all this you get an ice cream sandwich bite or cheesecake bite, plus fortune cookie, and after-dinner mints. All this(aside from the Thai tea) is included in the price for the meal, which is already very reasonable. I’ve easily paid more for lesser Thai and lesser portions. Please be aware— they use the 1 – 10 heat scale, but not the one that seems more common in MI — a legit Thai heat scale. I got a 4, and I’d say it was even a touch spicier than a 4 in AZ! Will definitely be missing this place back in AZ!

This was my first experience with Thai food and all I can say is «WOW»! From the point you step into the restaurant you are the boss. The kitchen staff loves to serve you, and has a genuine love for their customers. Lunch began with a simple salad that had a light, sweet dressing. The spring roll was hot from the frier with a crunchy, thin shell. For the main course I went with drunken noodles with chicken and beef(n3) and a spicy level of three. I was only able to eat 2⁄3 of my plate, but was really wanting to push the rest in. As an added bonus, you get either a piece of cheese cake or ice cream after the meal. I took the cheesecake to go. I was so fully from everything else. I will be back, and next time I think I’ll try the curry.

First impressions were a little shaky, the service seemed slow and we were served the wrong drinks. At this restaurant you can choose your meal’s spice level on a scale of 1 – 10. I chose a 4 because I am a wimp who still likes a little kick, my boyfriend chose 9. The food that was served was incredibly delicious and we both enjoyed our meals. But I quickly realized that even a 4⁄10 was still incredibly spicy to me. The waitress noticed and asked if I wanted her to make a new, cooler dish. I told her not to go to the trouble so she brought me some rice to mix in with the spicy noodles. This helped but was still a bit too much for me. After a while she came back with a to-go box(which I needed anyways) but when she opened it the box was already filled with noodles! She had made me a new dish without the spice to mix with my original plate. At first I thought that was super nice but was a little scared we would be charged for an extra meal. When the bill and ice cream sandwich came we were very happy to find that no extra charges were made and this wonderful waitress made sure that I had a wonderful food experience. Also, they did not charge us for the mixed up drink orders, even after fixing the mistake. Thai Express is the best!
