I think I would have liked this place if I were still under 25. But my age isn’t Tin Can’s fault. What irritated me most was the service. Okay, I get that as a bartender in a college-type bar on a Saturday night your patience is probably incredibly thin. And the drunk chick next to me who was talking the bartender’s ear off about anything completely irrelevant to an order didn’t help. But perhaps taking it out on the customers who are politely waiting with cash in-hand(twice) isn’t the way to go. I can see why people like this place but when I’m there, I feel like someone’s mom who got roped into chaperoning an out-of-control party – and I’m not even that old. It’s a pass for me.

Super friendly staff. Great beer, great prices. A HUGE plus is that they allow dogs on their patio. They were super accommodating to our pup, even making sure that she had her drink(water bowl) replenished when they checked on our drinks.

This is a pretty cool bar located right across from Founders and the Intersection. If you like lawn games and canned beer this is your kind of place.

There were no chips in the nachos…? So the food was crummy, but had I not been slightly inebriated upon entrance, I’d never have tried to eat here. Nope. Not sober; I’d have known better. We only wandered in because Founders was full, and we caught site of this place. Our waitress was kind of a beast; we sat at a bar top and grabbed the attention of the first gal with a tray walking by. She was nice, but we soon learned we were not on her turf, as some other chick bombed over and cut the other off mid sentence. She took our order but kept disappearing, but begrudgingly returning only after we would have to ask the other girl for something. Kind of weird… Anyway, we took the food to go, but we would have sent it back and paid them to keep it had we still been at the bar. If this is a testament to how bad it was, we were bringing it back for a bunch of hungry, drunk guys, and even they were disgusted. But hey, they had a huge shot list! So if I’m looking to get blackout drunk with some questionable characters, I will be back for suuuure!

Wanna-be college bar with a lack luster staff and atmosphere. Only plus is the beer selection, which unfortunately, on some nights will be light due to poor stocking. All in all — not great.

This place is pretty decent. When they get busy the security at the front entrance does a great job, especially by not letting groups of people in that cut in line to be there. I would rate this 5-star, but unfortunately my recent visits have been soiled by some of the clienteles douchebaggery, and the bar tenders’ preference to serve them.

They sell beer. It’s in cans. It costs $ 4 for a Miller lite 24oz. Also, despite being within sight of Founders, they don’t seem to be a bunch of pretentious pricks.

Total disappointment. Love the idea of serving strictly cans, and to their credit, they have a fine selection of craft beers available at very reasonable prices. However, there are a few things that make this place intolerable for people over the age of 23. 1) there is a beer pong table that looked about as grimy as mine when I was in college. 2) bartender showed no interest in my party of four and was more concerned with the loud girls and frat guys down the way swinging dollar bills around to get her attention. 3) their signature pudding shots are a great idea, but they were super thick, like eating a mix between frosting and semi-frozen toothpaste.

A fun environment with affordable drinks, and delicious pudding shots(imagine ice cream with alcohol in it!). If you love beer and a dart game and two, this is the place for you. My only thing is that the service at the bar was sort of slow – on a Friday night there were only 2 bartenders so I’d be waiting for 15 minutes for my drink.

Party bar with a good beer selection. Just had drinks so I cannot speak on the food. The drinks are reasonably priced and it seems like they got some fun specials for a night out.

I give them props for having some quality cans of beer, as well of the the cheap usual suspects of canned corn beer. The service was attentive and the space is good for groups. The vibe is very college time of life and can be a bit loud, so be prepared. Ow, they also do some feature shots that are creative. I’d go here if I wanted to get drunk on the cheap during a guy’s night out. Less so if you want a good conversation with a long lost friend. Parking is tough, but that’s downtown, so just park in a parking lot or stretch your parking search our a block or two.

Not grimy enough to be called a dive bar, and having the shot menu of a college bar, The Tin Can fills a party-bar nitch on Grandville Ave. What makes me think this is a college bar, besides them having three other locations near collages, is the beer pong table set up right by the door. Like soldiers ready for battle, the red solo cups are ready for action. What makes me think it’s a dive bar is that like their name implies, the majority of their drinks are served in cans. Our server explained that one can, with their Tin Can beer passport, drink their way around Michigan, getting different punch cards filled up. The first punch card is their Michigan Beer punch card: after 10 different Michigan beers, they will give you $ 10 cash when you order your 11th. I like making money and I like drinkin’, so this is a punch card I will hold on to! As the night went on they cracked up the tunes up and more people came by. The music — Lil Wayne, 90’s hip hop, stuff by MikeWillMadeIt(said in female robot voice) — was almost deafening and I found myself shouting over it. Different birthday and party groups came and went, usually doing a shot and a drink and posing for pictures. Other people played darts, wrote on the massive chalk board, and played beer pong. I was mildly surprised to see that our bill was a bit higher than expected for a place that serves everything in the can. However we did have craft beers so that was the price factor. My friend had a Bug Light Deuce and it was only $ 4.00. Sunday nights they have $ 1 tacos, $ 1 beer, and $ 1 pudding shot — Dinner, a drink, and desert. That’s classy livin’ on a college-size budget.
