Deep in the heart of the West Side, lies the Triangle. Much like the Bermuda triangle, this place has its own vortex to suck you in. Decorated with mirrored beer signs and velvet pictures(I’m not kidding, there’s velvet art on the wall), it’s the quintessential dive bar. And with super cheap drinks, the people who come here are loyal regulars. Case in point: a friend of mine went here often when he lived on the West Side about 10 years ago. When he comes back to this bar after being away, he still sees the same people that he saw before. Some have different spouses now or they come with their kids but they are still coming. Watch yourself, or you’ll be sucked in too.

I had a hankering for a dive bar so I hightailed it to the Triangle Bar(1200 Walker Ave). What this cinderblock box lacks in charm it makes up by facilitating alcohol into your bloodstream with alacrity. «The clientele is like a family,» said Stephanie the bartender. And it’s a charming crew. The Unabomber sat down next to this reporter and flashed his tooth at me. They have Busch on tap and when I asked about signature cocktails, Stephanie just shook her mahogany locks winsomely. There are four TVs and a pool table, which is better than you have at your trailer, loser.

This is a cool little dive bar. They have canned beer, pool tables, and bar related game machines. It’s a cool little place full of locals and blue collar types. Not a bad place to stop on a bar crawl or to watch a game or two.
