This is my first review on Unilocal and after buying a few pedals from this company i feel it is only right to tell others what i think. Ive bought their original pedals /have had pedals modified by them /and have had repairs done by them and i have never been so impressed and satisfied with a business like ive been with JHS. They surpass all my expectations for a company in both their product and customer service. They make a high quality product that sounds as amazing in your amp as it does in their demo videos! Ive bought a Double Barrel, Mr. Magic, Mini Foot Fuzz; have had a DOD250 and Ernie Ball VP Jr. modified by them and have been 100% satisfied with their product. Never have i heard such high quality pedals for such a great fair price. They are made to last and continually get me asked what pedals i use to make my tone and i proudly tell people JHS. Using them in both a church setting as well as playing venues with my band the way they work in the mix with all the other instruments is incredible. There is nothing bad i can say about their products because it is made by people who love what they do! I’ve had to get a couple of the pedals i purchased repaired(not because any fault of the build) and have always been treated great! John Pennington is who has always responds to my emails and he does very quickly and can usually assess the problem by my vague description in the email. I have never felt like my emails have been brushed off and always feel great knowing they care about my pedals and questions and are not just trying to make a quick sell. I’ve been a customer now for about a year and will continue to be faithful to them for many more years to come. They strive to blow the customer away with the tone their pedals give off and knowing that they arent just a number with the amount of pedals they sell, but a member of the JHS family! Check them out on their site, facebook, twitter and prepared to be hooked!

I am a tone junky. For those of you who are not musicians, what this means is that I crave good tone like Joi B. craves good wine: It’s gotta be rich, full of body, and indicative of the craft that went into making it. In my craving for this Aural Elixir that is once elusive and abundant in the right places, I decided to check out the local pedal-smiths JHS. I’ve been into the JHS shop in Grandview a few times, and they’re always very, very helpful, and will gladly indulge you in talk about what their custom pedals do, what boutique amps they’re featuring, what rare guitars they’re consigning, or what way they can help you find that fine tone you’re looking for. I was lucky enough to be able to snatch up one of their last Mr. Magic pedals, which to me, even on paper sounds like beautiful music, but in application is just amazing to the ears. I won’t go into the technicality of it being a Buffer, an Enhancer, and a Boost, but I will say it rockets my tone into the stratosphere when I stomp on it to hit a lead. Plus, the case is hand painted; something they have a lot of quirky fun with at their shop. Not only do these folks build their own brand of pedals, but they will modify pedals you already have! Well, I’m all about modifying; just look at my pin-striped Gretsch Baritones, or my custom-crafted guitar straps, or my special order amp cover, or my… yeah, I like things being changed, enhanced, tweaked. Whatever it takes to make it «mine»; in this case I had a Tremolo Pedal and an Overdrive Pedal modded. Both in ways that enhanced their inherent tones, but took them up a notch to become much more versatile than originally designed. Perfect. I’m incredibly satisfied by this company, and love their product. They’re also doing lots of good things for their community as a business, and really know what good service is all about. If you’re looking for a new box to stomp or have an old one that could use some souping-up, check out JHS before you hit a Guitar Center… you’ll be glad you did!
