Local Roots is hands down one of my favorite discoveries in South Kansas City. Living right next to the Grandview border, I’m used to driving 15 – 30 minutes to any store that I want to buy more than milk and flour from. This area is a barren desert for foodies, but Local Roots Market stands out against that with a strong passion for food. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and is happy to tell you about their products, where they come from, and what makes them special. They collaborate with local farmers, bakers, dairies, and other specialty food producers to bring a diverse selection to an area where the grocery stores lack the selection to fill any respectable recipe. Local Roots Market knows what they want to be and excel at it, making them a great choice for your shopping needs, and has the quality needed to not only serve this neighborhood but to draw customers from other parts of the city to see what they have to offer.

Very cute little store! Grandview is really on the move. I love places like this. The store has pretty much everything you need! Great, fresh, organic produce. Lots of items you can buy in bulk like nuts, dried berries, and grains. You can come here and find familiar health brands, some you’ve never heard of, and cool local products. They have fresh baked goods that look amazing, I have yet to try them. I love stopping at Local Roots Market when I get the chance. Helpful and friendly employees. Neat place all around, I just wish it was in a more convenient location for me. Grandview residents, you got lucky with this one! Great health food store!

A true Oasis in the food«Kalahari» aka South KC… Go check out the locally grown, seasonal produce, if for no other reason. Nice people own/run the place. It’s pricey, but who cares? The ONLY option is that awful, stinky(smells like a gynecologists trash can) Price Chopper that takes 30 min to pay for your purchase – on a GOOD day!!! Oh yeah, the folks @ Providence Pizza supply breads and baked goods and those products are as good as their pizza, but the store desperately needs a bread slicer, if they had one I’d never buy bread anywhere else. Great location if you live in or even close to, Grandview. People who appreciate good, clean food products around here really should support this effort!

What a great place! I visited for the first time, knowing that it was going to be cool. I have heard that the owner has a passion to connect local farmers directly to the public. I love that kind of stuff. My expectations were exceeded. First off, can I just say how much I loved setting foot into the place? Wooden crates holding produce, wooden barrels holding bulk items, mason jar lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Great ambiance. But I fell in love with the produce and their meats. It feels like a convenient farmers market – open 6 days a week. The produce is beautiful; a lot of it looks like it just came from someone’s garden. The eggs come straight from a farmer – and 30% less than what I normally pay for my superior pasture-raised eggs. And the meats are all top-notch farmers market quality. I’m becoming a regular. Can’t beat a lot of the items that they sell.
