Always a go-to spot for our family! Steak and shake is better than McDonald’s, but not as good as Stella’s! I think we’d all agree on that one. But– for the price, you always leave happy, full, and a full wallet as well! Food is always hot, servers are always nice and timing is great. Not a negative thing I could say.

This is usually a Thursday afternoon summer hangout spot that our group has been religiously visiting for the past two summers. I’ve noticed there are a lot of «dirty» tables that haven’t been touched in the 30 – 40 minutes we typically are there. The burgers are good, and the fries are the truth. But we only go there at 3:30PM for one reason, and those are the milkshakes. I mean, it’s practically in the name of the place, and they don’t disappoint. I’ve been there enough times to agree that the service is usually pretty quick, especially for big groups. I highly recommend the Mint Oreo Cookies and Cream milkshake. It’s a decent spot to check out. Deuces

Update. Laurel P has tried to contact me since I made that review. I have had to block messages from her.

I am an avid fan of SNS, not my best experience this morning. Finally convinced my wife(not a fan) to hit the shake up for breakfast. Our server was certainly new but really did a great job. The issue was the pancakes. Not the pancakes specifically but the hair carefully baked within the folds of a silver stack. Yum. The manager wisked away the follicle filled funnel cakes and crossed them off the bill. Thank you. She did offer to replace them which was the farthest thing from my wife’s mind. Especially after the rather audible debate as to whose hair was the pancake perpetrator. Not really something the customer wants to hear nor cares about the origin. 2 stars because my skillet was just fine and let’s face it, hair happens, let’s just work on our response to this issue.

I’ve actually never had a terrible experience here. My fiancé come in here once and awhile late night, sometimes 1 or 2 in the morning when we go out for a drive. Maybe it’s just the difference between coming in when it’s busy, and coming in late night when everyone’s a bit more relaxed because it’s not so crazy. On occasion, we’ll get a server that starts out a bit of a grump, but by the end of our meal he’s laughing and joking with us. I think a lot of people don’t realize that if you come in with a bad attitude, it’s not going to make your experience any better. As far as food goes, it’s a step up from fast food but I don’t expect much else. My food is always hot, and seasoned the way I like it. And when I ask for extra pickles on my burger, they really stack it on. So no complaints there.

My family and I went to this Steak N Shake about a week ago, and it was the worst experience at a Steak N Shake I have ever had. Granted, we don’t normally have excellent experiences when we go there anyway, but the kids love it there and that’s the only reason we go. Now for the«meat and potatoes» of my review. The food was sub par, worse than I would expect, even from there. My coffee cup was filthy, and I didn’t realize the nasty film coating the inside until I had taken a few sips. This is not the first time I had dirty dishes at a Steak N shake(other locations included). But, the real winner for ultimate disappointment was the waitress. She was very unfriendly and unprofessional. Her clothes were disgusting, covered in smeared food. It looked like she had worn her uniform to work for 2 weeks without washing it. She only brought us 4 sets of silverware when we had 5 people. And, when I kindly pointed out my gross coffee cup, she didn’t even apologize. She just silently grabbed it, walked away and brought a new(clean) cup without a word. She never came over to ask how our food was. In fact, she said nothing when she dropped off the bill. When she was at our table, she made us feel like we were nothing but a nuisance. Absolutely ridiculous! I will not return to this restaurant again. Don’t expect paying customers to continue to frequent your establishment when you have«Bratty Betty»(not her real name) representing your company.

Pretty mediocre. The food tastes alright but service is poor. I have to say that they finally got my order right on my last visit though(too bad the middle of my burger was still pink). Food usually arrives okay though. The problem is that you either get a friendly waitress who forgets stuff or you get a cranky person with little personality. It is a cheap place to hang out though so I’ll probably keep coming as long as my friends want to go there. I’ll never come on my own nor recommend Steak-N-Shake though. Actually, I can recommend their shakes because those are pretty good… unless the waitress too busy texting on her phone and lets it sit and get runny. That happened on last visit. I went up to check and she was behind the counter playing on her phone.

We arrive around 1:00pm and the place was crowned. We had to wait 5 minutes to be seat, but less than 3 minutes they already call our name. As soon as we sat down Abbey bring over three glass of water, and she give us a few minutes to look over the menu. 1. me Steak burger and banana shake 2. brother Steak burger and vanilla shake 3. Mom grill turkey garden salad All our food arriving out with about 15 minutes, and it is hot and delicious, and the shake was wonderful. Before Abbey leaving for break she came by ask us if we need anything, and if we do later we just waive to any waitress will help us out. Now that a services.

Well, I love Steak ‘n Shake. Love. Once a week, after work, my coworkers and I will usually take up a table of 5 – 15. In fact, this location is usually where we’d go, since we work right near Rivertown Mall. On the 01/28/2011, I was out to eat with my boyfriend and 2 friends, and it was busy, I’m not going to deny that. Still, that is no excuse for the grill cook to drop the wooden planks(that are used to weigh down the buns on the grill) to the floor, pick them up, and use them again. Thank goodness we’d gotten our food, but a knot was in our stomachs, who knows what happen to it we didn’t see… Beyond freaked out, we called the manager over. He was very cavalier about the whole situation and said he’d talk to the man we pointed out. This is what we saw: manager talk to man, 2 more men join discussion, they all turn to look at us, manager points to grill, manager walks away, manager puts more planks on the hook things beneath the grill. … None of us saw him take the fallen ones away. Freaked, we go to pay. My friends pay cash, easy. I paid for my boyfriend and I’s order with a credit card. I authorized $ 24.00 to be charged(tip included). I didn’t notice until I was home that they charged me $ 25.10. Yes, it’s a buck ten, but it’s the principle of the matter, especially since the cashier looked like she was bothered to help us. I called S ‘n S’s customer service number and they were little help. I called the store, who told me to call the customer service number. I did get an email from S ‘n S. It told me that my valuable information would be passed along to the appropriate district manager. Moral of my review, if you love Steak ‘n Shake, do not, for your health, go to the Kenowa location!!!

Yummy and inexpensive desserts in a cute diner atmosphere– open late! I was starving when I finally arrived in Grand Rapids at 11:30 on Friday night, so we went to one of the only eateries we could find that was still open. And the place was jumping! Lots of people, all ages, but mostly teenagers and young couples. I tried one of the«Four Meals Under 4″ — a Steakburger with Cheese and Bacon, served with fries. It was pretty small but tasty and I guess I can’t complain for the price– a Happy Meal costs more in LA I think. And the Double Chocolate Shake was delicious– i had to order it after the waiter caught me staring longingly at one for someone else. Our waiter was sweet and helpful too. So a good place to grab a hot and cheap meal, especially late at night.

This one is just like all the others, but I am basically giving a shout out to Heather, an incredibly polite and attentive waitress — easily the best Steak N Shake wait-staff-person I’ve ever had. Plus, I got a chocolate malt here that was super malty — oh so delicious and soothing for my screamed out throat(SnS is an integral part of my post concert experience). The restaurant was clean, and we actually got our food pretty fast, too. I’m never angry about it, but I expect to wait when I show up this late at night, added to the usually slightly slower SnS service. So, to sum it up, food was good, service was way way better than I expect at midnight, and just hope your malt was made by the person who made mine.
