Fun food! Quick service. Many cheeses to pick from lots of sandwich choices. Franchise out of Cincinnati.

I’ve finally moved up to the Grand Rapids area after visiting a number of times, and this is probably the place I’m most excited about now that I’m here. I’ve stuck with the blue cheese and bacon sandwich every time so far, so I can’t really comment on anything else, but I love it! I’m a huge blue cheese fan and that flavor definitely comes through. The service is generally pretty fast even when it’s busy, and they bring your food to your table! Overall I love the food and atmosphere! My only complaint is that the food isn’t super filling. If I’m paying $ 7.00 — $ 8.00 for lunch I’d like that to satisfy me until dinner, but a grilled cheese sandwich and soup dipper doesn’t quite cut it. I’ll certainly continue coming here because I enjoy the food, but I’ll make sure to have a snack on hand for later!

Whooaaaaaa! Turn the corner, you wish you didn’t just get potbelly… but even if you did you’d probably still be like WHYTHE H– E double hockey sticks wouldn’t you go for Round 2 at Tom + Chee??? Yeah that’s what I thought, hopefully you are reading this review pre entering the newish development of Cabelas– so you can just get Tom + Chee as Round1. if not you’ll definitely no doubt about it, you’ll be back. WOW«Yum + Awesome«it’s plastered on the wall… but it sure is true once you take your bite into your food. No freezers, fryers, microwave here Options Galore — luckily the staff is super knowledgeable — we opted for one of the Grilled Cheese … you do have the option to make your own and build it up or you can go with one of the signature options. Hot + Spicy — it was delicious perfect crunch heat dankness, all one perfectly toasty sandwich cut perfectly into two halves. pepperoni cook through and onions and hot peppers and cheese on wheat berry bread. see photo. there is a whole add on of having crushed chips in your sandwich, I’d get that next time. the mac and cheese sandwich was intriguing also. if you check in on Unilocal you can get a free soup dipper with the purchase of your sandwich ! basically the most ideal little side of soup to dip your sandwich in. or you can just purchase a ’ soup dipper ‘ it’s cool they have specials according to each category. holy moly the donut special !!

This place is amazing! We drove up from Kalamazoo to check it out. My wife got the donut grilled cheese and I got the mac and cheese grilled cheese. We took half of each and dipped them in our cup of classic tomato soup. The classic tomato soup is this. It reminded me more of marinara than soup, but not as sweet. It was very tasty. The donut was sweet, but savory. Dipping it in the soup was awesome. The mac and cheese had me worried. I’ve always just had the classic cheese and bread grilled cheese, but I was feeling like trying something new. The sandwich was the bomb. It was awesome. Totally worth it. I’m going to try something new next time! Highly recommend checking this place out.

I really wanted to love this place. But sadly, I didn’t, my grilled ham and cheese was very good, but it was $ 6 dollars alone. .and it was grilled ham and cheese. Didn’t care for the grilled cheese donut at all… cheese good, donuts good, but together not so much. Super fun atmosphere and super friendly workers but falls flat in lunch practicality, still glad we came to try it, cause we loved seeing in this place on shark tank…

Far too expensive for a grilled cheese. The size was underwhelming, the taste was okay(it’s hard to mess up a grilled cheese) and the service was good. The saving grace was the peanut butter banana dessert grilled cheese. I wish it didn’t cost so much because I’d eat that every day.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup — the classic if often unexciting combination, can be made much more exciting here. In addition to a rotating soup of the day, Tom and Chee offers three varieties of tomato soup — classic, chunky tomato basil, and creamy tomato basil. And in addition to offering a variety of original grilled cheese variants of their own devising, they allow customers to build their own sandwich. Recently, I made my first, and so far only visit to the restaurant. I ordered the creamy tomato basil soup, and while it wasn’t extraordinary, it certainly holds its own alongside any tomato soup I’ve had recently in area restaurants. When it came time to pick a sandwich, I noticed that there was a bacon & blue cheese grilled cheese, and a mac & cheese grilled cheese, but no sandwich that combined the two. Knowing that blue cheese and bacon were made to be paired with mac & cheese, I built my own sandwich with all three added ingredients. When my sandwich was first delivered, it was actually the wrong sandwich… it had bacon and mac & cheese, but no blue cheese. I alerted the cashier/waitress(you order at the register, but they bring the food to your table), and she was quick to deliver both a correct sandwich and a leftover box to take the mistake sandwich home(a nice touch). I have to say, I was a little disappointed with the sandwich, because whether this is true of the side order of mac & cheese they offer or not, it was unpleasantly dry in the actual sandwich. If I go back, it would be to try a sandwich sans mac & cheese in it. The high point of the meal was dessert. As they are happy to advertise, you can get your sandwich — or if your tastes are somewhat more mainstream, your dessert — served on a grilled donut. They had a few different sweet options, one of which hadn’t been on the online menu prior to my visit, and so was a pleasant surprise, and what I actually went on to order. I had the Choco Bacon Bliss: bacon, chocolate pieces, mozzarella, and chocolate mascarpone on a grilled donut. The mozzarella was barely present and certainly was of no value to the dish. But the chocolate mascarpone was absolutely fantastic, and made the dish. I’m pretty sure you could put it on an old gym shoe and still enjoy what you’re eating. Bonus tip: this is one of the unfortunately few and far between restaurants in the area that offers Pibb Xtra as a fountain soda option.

They really do have very good food for most tastes. One star off for high prices.

This is a cool place with wayyy more options than you would think this style of restaurant would have. My group including a kid were really happy with their meals, I made the fatal error of going vegan cheese and bread not toasted because I was unclear on what they used spray or butter wise to toast their bread. You can imagine how delicious a cold vegan cheese sandwich tasted. I’ll be back to give it another go asap. The staff was friendly.

Came in with my mom and son to have a quick lunch while Christmas shopping. I enjoyed my sandwich very much. Tried the donut/cheese sandwich.(No thanks, not again!) Appreciated the number of choices on the sandwich menu; I’ll enjoy trying a different one next time. Didn’t see a tuna-melt? Seems like it would be a natural.(Might have missed it, the menu’s pretty large.)

A clean bright environment with friendly staff! I’ve been here twice now and have really enjoyed both visits! The creamy tomato and basil soup is on point and the grilled cheese is equally delicious! I’ll definitely be back for more of that comfort food feeling!

A-OK. I love potato chips on sandwiches and here they make them that way so I don’t have to add them myself and look like a weirdo. They’re grilled cheese which are pretty damn easy to make at home but if you are feeling lazy or have a bunch of kids to feed this place is nice.

Equally intrigued and horrified by Tom+ Chee’s signature grilled cheese donut, I ventured into the restaurant this past Tuesday evening to pay them a visit. I think the hype around the store must have died down because I was surprised to walk in and find only one person in front of me in line and several tables available. With an expansive, cheese-heavy menu I almost wished I had more time in line to determine what I wanted. I stuck with what I came in for and ordered their original grilled cheese donut to go with a soda. The wait was only about 5 – 7 minutes and my food was delivered out to the dining room in a bag by a staff member. The restaurant was clean, tidy and had had a fun vibe to it– I can see why families might like this casual dining concept. I was impressed that they even offered vegan cheese and gluten free options to accommodate different diets. As for my grilled cheese donut — it was okay. The donut was sugary sweet and grilled with tons of goopy cheddar cheese dripping out the side. It was good in the way that empty calories are good. Since I had to eat my sandwich in the car, I must have looked like a complete piggy to the people passing by, licking my fingers and taking massive bites to ensure none of the cheese oozed out the side. I’m glad I tried it, but I can’t imagine I’d be craving it again… sober that is, now this would be the drunk food of champions! However, since the rest of the menu looked tasty and hopefully less caloric, I will be back to try out the other items they offer next time I’m on this side of town.

So it wasn’t too bad! I had the BLT grilled cheese. There wasn’t anything special about the taste that jumped out to me. The bread was really greasy. I understand it needs to be a little greasy but it was soaked. I also tried the smores sandwich. This was amazing. Like I wish I had 2 to eat right now! The Mac and cheese was ok, nothing special as well. I would definitely try it again, but probably wouldn’t get a regular sandwich.

I had the Tom + Chee, which I thought would be really good since it shares the restaurant’s name, but it turned out to just be very ok. I almost wish I had gotten a plain ol’ grilled cheese since they’re pretty hard to screw up. The décor is cute, and the prices are fine. While I wasn’t blown away, I would come back, as it was good enough for what it was.

Seating is very limited during busy times. On a hot, sunny day like today, one does not want to sit outside and bake in the sun while eating. I’ve had better mac and cheese from a box. It tastes like it has ham or bacon(?) in it, and it wasn’t served very warm. Disappointing because I hate ham. And bacon. I also got an original grilled cheese donut. It’s nothing to write home about. It tastes like an overly sweet grilled cheese. The stars are mostly for the service, which was pretty good, but not super awesome. I’m not eager to return anytime soon, unfortunately. :(

Okay even if you don’t like grilled cheese and tomato soup, try this place any way. They have reinvented the traditional grilled cheese and tomato soup. They over a variety of Grilled Cheese sandwiches or you can create your own. I really enjoyed the Swiss+Shroom. If some how your were disappointed with you food go back in and order a ‘Grilled Cheese Donut” for dessert and all will be right with your world. I had the Strawberry Lemonade and WOW! it was incredible.

The ambiance is very nice though the setup is the same as Five Guys & Smashburger. The Grilled Cheeses are a little pricey but large so it equals out. Honestly the grilled cheese is not better than I can make at home. Not worse either. Lots of choices for your grilled cheese. If your out and want a grilled cheese and don’t want to go home to make your own, then this is the place to go.

My daughter and I were excited to try the new Tom + Chee in Grandville(saw it on Shark Tank a while ago). The first thing we noticed when entering the restaurant was how bright and colorful it was, we also noticed how noisy it seemed. Luckily the weather was nice, so we decided to eat outside. We both decided to try the Tom + Chee sandwich along with a bowl of the classic tomato soup and a drink. The ordering process was ok, there was only one person taking orders when we arrived, and aa second was added as the line order grew. Our food was brought out to our table relatively quickly. Service was pretty good all around. A quick note about the outdoor seating, there were several tables but only a handful of umbrellas to provide shade. Thankfully it wasn’t too bright today, but it would have been nice to have an umbrella. Our grilled cheese sandwiches came out on Texas style bread, grilled to perfection. In the inside was perfectly melted cheese along with some fresh diced tomato. Both of us agreed that the grilled cheese was very tasty. Unfortunately we couldn’t say the same for the tomato soup. It was somewhat thick, which was good, we just didn’t like the the taste. My daughter described it as tasting almost like a pizza or spaghetti sauce, whereas I thought it tasted more like a slightly thinner version of a marinara sauce that you would use as a dip for a mozzarella stick. My daughter thought the soup was average. I was only able to eat about 1⁄3 of the bowl of soup, definitely wouldn’t get it next time. That leads me to my final thought… the price. Over $ 23 for a grilled cheese, bowl of soup, and soda for two people, that seems a bit spendy. I’ll probably go back again since my wife wants to try it, I just don’t see it as the type of place I’d go more than maybe once a year.
