I love Kool Beanz! I love that my city has a family owned coffee shop. The chai tea is awesome as well as their Butterbeer latte(heyyyy fellow Harry Potter enthusiasts!) the food is also surprisingly very good for a coffeehouse. So happy to have this place!

Kool Beanz café is where quality meets affordability! I am a fan of coffee and coffeehouses in general but most of the time, these places tend to be overpriced and overcrowded. Not here! In fact, I almost asked the salesperson if he rang my order correctly after he informed me how much I owed. The inside of this coffee house is fairly cozy. There is a small space heater in the form of a fireplace to the left of the shop entrance surrounded by comfy couches. The wall to the far corner from the entrance have shelves of books for clients to peruse while they enjoy their beverage or food. Quite a lovely idea! It has been a while since I have bought a physical book with the technological advancements and all but I wouldn’t be opposed to flipping a few pages of my favorite book while sipping coffee in a nice and peaceful coffee shop. I cannot speak as to how their actual breakfast and lunch food is but I did order a double chocolate muffin and it was delicious. The portion was also quite generous and since I wanted it to go, he carefully wrapped it and placed it inside a to-go bag. Their coffee is also from a local coffee company(Chauvin) which means they support local businesses as well! I ordered a 20 oz americano for a low, low price of $ 3 and the muffin was $ 2. Both were excellent! Seriously, anywhere else I would have definitely paid more. I wish this place was closer to home but I just used up my final genie wish.

As a former native I must admit my first reaction was how is a place like this in G.C. Everything about it is top notch. From the cool eclectic small town décor, to the well thought sound system and most importantly the food/drink are all done to the highest standards. The staff is friendly, helpful and fun. I guess it all comes from the owner(s). My first time there, I had a small party order with a special request and without hesitation everything was handled and I was treated like a big customer. I’m glad I shopped local!

Great food, great atmosphere. Stopped in after seeing many of my facebook friends in Granite City checking in. I was on my way to a meeting, so I could not stay and ordered my kale salad to go. The owner was working the counter and was very accommodating of my requests to add turkey to the kale salad and offered a newer/larger sized to-go cup for my iced tea since I was heading to a meeting. The Kale salad was great. Very fresh ingredients and lots of sliced almonds, diced green apple, and dried cranberries. I usually order dresssing on the side, but since it was a lemon vinaigrette, I decided to let them toss it… good call! I also picked up a bag of espresso beans for home since they buy their coffee beans from one of my favorite local roasters(Chauvin). They are also setup for featuring local musicians on certain evenings and weekends. Lot’s of comfy seating and nice music(not too loud) make a really nice environment to work, read, or just relax. Can’t wait to go back.

The wife and I stopped in to try this place for breakfast on a Monday morning. It was clean and had nice employees. I had the French Toast with a few blueberries and the wife had the breakfast croissant. I also had coffee Highlander Grogg and it was very good. The only problem we had was a man laying on a couch fast asleep. He finally was awoke by some people looking for a place to sit and moved outside to sleep at a table right next to us. Luckily there was a window between us or his head would have been in our food. We asked the waitress about it and she didn’t seemed concerned about it. But I would probably go back again

The French toast was excellent, and the fresh blueberries were quite tasty. Husband had the bacon apple brie panini, which was delicious and filing without being too heavy. Friendly service, nice atmosphere. Definitely a gem in Granite City that we will return to and recommend to friends!

Granite City’s downtown keeps getting better and better and Kool Beanz is a huge part of the revitalization. The help is always courteous and helpful. I’ve tried many different types of coffees and the menu is excellent.

I have been watching Lloyd check in here every day, and today was my day to check it out. It was very easy to find, and sorry but I am shocked that Granite City has a cool coffee house. It had the look and feel of a hip coffee house, except I could not get past the smell. Sadly, it does not smell like coffee it smells like oil and diesel. I don’t know if it is from the refinery or is the building was a former garage. It was very overpowering. I was delighted with the size of banana nut muffin I purchased, and they have three different brews of the day. I was delighted to see they had my personal favorite Highlander Grog… While I was waiting to order, I was looking at the menu. They offered the standard oatmeal, pancakes, eggs to order and quiche. The lunch menu offered salads, soups and Panini’s. It would be a nice place to check out for lunch. Sadly, no outside seating, but I am guessing with the neighbor it would not be wise. If you find yourself in Granite City, you should stop and sip…

I like the fact that they were open to our Granite City Moms group to meet up on Monday’s at 10am to whenever. They store our baby gate the group bought and the kids stay between the couches and in the gate. Mommy’s get to talk and babies get to play. They have books in the back for the general public. I had the iced coffee and it was really something else. It was better than Starbucks coffee if that’s a compliment!

The Chef here has graduated from the James Beard Culinary School and the food shows it… great presentation that makes you want to kiss the plate before you eat it and the taste it. All the right combinations and textures that just enhance the meal. The right atmosphere and the great people and customer service just awsome. This place I hope it stays like this but I can see it staying packed once people get knowledge of it. The dish I had was very mellow and savory with some sweet touches to it. Makes your mouth water and your body quiver. Very satisfying and fulfilling.

Almond AND soy milk offered. Nice selection of herbal teas. Free Wifi. Homemade cinnamon rolls. Gluten free cookies. Inexpensive. Friendly baristas. Open, spacey interior. Comfortable couches to lounge on and tables to get work done with by the window. Seems to be a locals favorite judging by the clientele. Would return when in the area.

Great coffee, great breakfast and lunch!!! The hours are expanding right now open 7−2pm. Open at night on Mondays and Saturdays. I would call them to make sure if coming outside of 7−2PM. The owner is extremely nice and always asks for suggestions. The red couch is the most comfortable couch ever!!!
