The owner of GFIGA is destroying the economy of GF with his INSANE prices! Why buy ANYTHING in GF when you never stop at the grocery store, which is where you spend most of your household budget? I’ve recently lived in Fairbanks, AK and I’m pretty sure you can buy most grocery store items as cheap or cheaper there than GFIGA. The meat prices are exorbitant! Granted, the Wednesday night chicken special($ 5.99) is GREAT and they have a nice selection of unique miscellaneous items, but that doesn’t justify his crazy damn prices! Have to say, once you eat the chicken, you’ll NEVER visit KFC again! And yes, I’ve heard he does donate to a lot of local charities and organizations in need. But that needs to come out of HIS pocket, not mine! Location has nothing to do with it — he’s not charged any more for his stuff than an IGA in Everett or Seattle.

Let’s be reasonable with our expectations. This is in Granite Falls Washington, situated between Seattle and the middle of nowhere. This store has everything you need to do some car camping in Mt. Baker. They may not have the fine dining options required of so many people on Unilocal. But if that’s your thing then bring your own stuff. It is expensive, but it is all about supply and demand. Enjoy your time at Baker!

Bring the plastic because you probably don’t have enough cash on hand when you walk in. I only go here if I’m in a pinch because they are CRAZY $$$$. The employees are friendly but it’s hard to overlook the prices.

As the closest grocery store to Lake Roesiger, we went to Granite Falls IGA several times last summer. The store was organized and had a variety of departments including produce, deli, bakery, floral, and meat. The alcohol section was big and included some local beers and wine. In general, the store was a little pricey but it’s a one stop for your grocery needs.

This ais a great small town grocery store. Pleasant checkers with short lines. A little bit of everything, even organic, gluten– free. Produce always looks fresh too.

«Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more.» The classic quote would actually have more dramatic effect if we didn’t get the Kansas feeling in this grocery store about an hour out of Seattle, a common stop for provisions for those on the way to one of the various Mt. Baker range hikes along the Mountain Loop Highway, as there are few other reasons for a casual visit to Granite Falls. However, the forthright friendliness, the aggressive fundraisers flanking the doors, the sheer size and the amount of pickup trucks in the parking lot that made us glad not to have brought the Prius so we didn’t stick out even further from the locals made it very clear that we were no longer in the confines of the breezy hand of the Freeze territory. Of particular interest to those who are about to engage in strenuous exercise, the deli counter boasts(~$ 6 full, ~$ 3.50 half) sandwiches including various pre-built grilled paninis and mountainous grinders as well as custom orders to cater to even the non-indigenous vegetarian species that often surfaces en route to the parts beyond. I wouldn’t make a special trip out here to shop, but if one is in need, Granite Falls Red Apple Market, bucking the basic economic forces to only satisfy, is definitely nicer than what it would need to be to simply suffice for both passersby and the local residents.
