One of my favorite experiences when I was a young Cub and Boy Scout was when we would camp at Silver Trails. Although to some the camp may seem dated(it opened in 1948, and has that classic log-built«camp» look), upgrades over the last few years have greatly enhanced what used to be entirely a rustic experience. The best addition was a large shower/bathroom building, and the addition of more cabins to the site, both on the upper grounds and lower level camp sites. Three generations of my family have camped here as Scouts, and additional members have camped here for recreation. I would highly recommend the site for those who wish to experience«camp» life as it was several decades ago; a little more laid back, and a lot less stressful than today. While there is cell service out here, it’s the 3GLTE variety, so if your obsessed with your cell phone, you’ll be disappointed. That said, I tend to turn mine off when I’m out at places like this, so it’s not that big of a deal to me.
