Stopped in this morning for breakfast. My wife and mother-in-law both got the Huevos and I had the breakfast burrito. Everything was outstanding as always !

Sadly disappointing. We had heard good reviews so we decided to try it. Living in the area, we love to support local businesses. Unfortunately this is not one we will support again. Food lacked flavor… sausage gravy had no taste to it, the green chili was ok at best. Need to revisit their dishes — Huevos rancheros with no beans? I’m still a little confused how you can be out of French toast? What it did not lack was SALT! Wow… is all I can say. I’ve had salty food, but WOW!!! The most uncomfortable patio chairs ever. I will give them an A for cleanness. Restaurant was clean & nicely put together.

Absolutely adorable. With an expected menu but unexpected quality, Kenosha Café is my new favorite breakfast joint. The staff was unbelievably friendly, and I adored the way people would just stop in off the highway for a bite. I ordered the Juevos Rancheros, which were wonderfully seasoned, smothered in green chile, and just the right texture. Their country fries are delish and extra crispy on the outside/super soft and hot on the inside(the way I love them). We will come back every time we’re up here. They don’t serve alcohol, but you won’t need it.

Kenosha Café is a gem! They have a great breakfast and lunch menu with most(possibly all) items made from scratch. I’ve had their breakfast burrito and reuben sandwich, both are very tasty and they use in-house homemade chorizo(burrito) and corned beef(reuben). Easy place to stop to/from Fairplay-area to Denver or visa versa.

I had lunch here today and it was excellent. I had the Kenosha Burger, tater tots, rice Krispy chocolate/Carmel treat, and a Pepsi. The service is great and the people take time to find out who you are. Their hours are 8 – 3 and closed on Wednesday. I have been driving by this place for 3 years on my way to my ranch property and so glad that I finally stopped. It you are in the area then stop by and have a meal.

Yum! Great service, wonderful food! We stopped by this afternoon; the staff was really friendly. They were still serving breakfast at 2pm. The current owners had recently bought the restaurant, so the previous reviews must have concerned the prior owners. The specials(shrimp ‘po bit and pulled pork burrito) were amazing and huge. The burgers and fries were really delicious! The cookies were great too. Well worth the stop; don’t let early reviews make you miss this food, you’ll regret it.

Wow! If you haven’t stopped by dont pass it up! Not hard to miss but definitely doesn’t stand out as a place to stop on hwy 285 unless you know its here. Friendly staff. Cute small intimate setting. The chicken pot pie is to die for! You can tell that it was homemade. Also had the green chili burger… Yum! We will definitely be back when are are headed this way again

This is a good option when you are in this area of Colorado. The location fits its surroundings and the staff is really friendly. We stopped in for breakfast, which was decent and served relatively quickly. It’s nice to know there is something to eat on the way to hiking or some other similar activity.

Great location, friendly & helpful staff, good food, family friendly. We had 9 people with kids and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyable! I had the green chili burger was was quite good. They had high chairs for the toddlers, went out if their way to really make us feel welcome. The whole place was quite clean and so were the bathrooms. Couldn’t be happier with all aspects of our visit & meal. Thanks!

This was the perfect way to put a very bad taste on an otherwise beautiful day. Ive been here 3 times and tried very hard to like it but every time we go back it gets worse. The biggest problem is customer service. They post a sign near the serve yourself coffee table to remind customers that«Courtesy is Contagious». They need to read the sign. First let me say we drove all the way from Denver. Second, we were the only customers in the place other than one girl who had already been served. They gave us menus with breakfast and lunch. The menu does not specify times but only says that breakfast is served all day. They allowed us to order a BLT at 1030 am and then came back to say it was a lunch item and we couldnt get it til 11. Really? I asked. It’s bacon and toast with a slice of tomato. Hash browns would be fine. The only thing cook would need to do for us, his only customers, would be slice a tomato. The owner said the cook was insistent that he would not do it. WOW! Time for a new cook? We should have walked out then but we were too hungry and had already paid. When the food came out the owner brought it to our table. Nice of him? Then he said is there anything else? I said a glass of water would be great. He pointed to the beverage station and said«right over there.» Then he went over and stood next to it for literally 20 minutes talking to the other lady behind the counter. He wasn’t busy cleaning or doing anything. He had a wonderful opportunity to be courteous. Before I left I got myself a glass of water. What really takes the cake is this. You order at the counter and pay before you get the food. The card receipt gives 3 options for tip. Starting with 15%. So, we had already tipped this owner 15% and he wouldn’t even get a glass of water. We should have put 0 on the receipt and left cash on the table. Lesson learned. We introduced our mountain relatives to this place thinking they would like it and we were embarrassed. I haven’t mentioned the huge bug we smashed on the table next to us that never got cleaned up even though they watched us kill it, or the long time issue they had with the broken lock on the bathroom door that caused me a very embarassing situation the two times we visited before. The easy fix of a door knob was not important to them for months. Instead they posted a sign telling folks to knock. At least now they got that fixed. Like I said, we tried hard to like this place but the food is mediocre if that and the people are just plain RUDE. The only thing they have going for them is the location. They’re right on the highway. We will NEVER go back and neither will our relatives. My mother in law who ordered the BLT was so embarrassed by it all that she had to swallow her tears.

The best possible breakfast for hundreds of square miles is at the Kenosha Café. My friends and I were returning from a lovely weekend at the base of Mt. Princeton the week of 3÷3÷14 and after driving through Fairplay without finding much in the way of delicious, we saw Kenosha’s unique post office/restaurant. And we were starving. So we walked in, and the first thing my girlfriend said was, «Oh man, it’s so clean!». We’re sort of used to seeing less-than-sparkling roadside joints through the backwoods of Colorado. But Kenosha was really, really nice and clean — you could eat your breakfast off of the toilet seat, if you felt like it(none of us felt like it). Now the food. The FOOD! We ordered breakfast and we all shared everything. One of us had the regular ‘ol sausage bagel breakfast sandwich. The sausage was absolutely delicious, didn’t taste like anything frozen or storebought, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the bagel was nice and fresh. I had the Fisherman’s breakfast, which thankfully didn’t have fish, but it did have eggs, sausage patties, a fresh, homemade biscuit(with two kinds of delicious jellies«multiberry» and strawberry — both amazing), and some of the most delicious country potatoes I’ve ever had. The potatoes were spiced perfectly, cooked in peppers and onions, and spiced up incredibly well. They had a little spice to them, and were crispy as all get out. MMMMM. The gal had french toast, which was really simple, but really super good. Light egg wash, fried large slices of(sourdough?) with powdered sugar and maple syrup. Perfect counterbalance to the savory sausage and potato fest happening on my plate. We also ordered a side of tater tots(one of my absolute favorite foods since elementary school) smothered in green chili and covered in cheese. It. Was. Delightful. The green chili had massive amounts of shredded pork, and was just the right level of spicy. The owner, Zach and his wife Blair run quite a place. Zach was really nice and conversational without being too talkative or interrupting our conversation, and Blair cooked up a hell of a breakfast. I asked Zach what we could do to spread the word, and he said that Kenosha doesn’t have a great rep because the previous owners weren’t the best. I’m writing to set the record straight, the new and improved Kenosha Café is absolutely worth a visit when traveling through this lovely part of Colorado.

We also own a cabin in Park County and spend a lot of time driving up 285. We have stopped at many of the small restaurants along the way. What a nice surprise to have finally stopped at the Kenosha Café for lunch. It was a Friday about 12:30 in the afternoon. We decided on their smothered burrito. It had egg, chunky fried potatoes and carnitas-type crispy pork in it and then it was smothered in a very special gravy-like green chili. It was EXCELLENT! They have cookies and scones also. We bought a mixed bag of great peanut butter and oatmeal cookies. Yummy! We also enjoyed talking to Andrea. Great people person. We will be back to try something else.

We also travel US285 a lot. We stop here whenever we can. We’ve tried a dozen breakfast or lunch items and every one has been great. Fresh ingredients, well prepared, friendly staff, great value, quick service, unassuming but clean and bright mountain cabin ambience, even wi-fi! Our faves are the Reuben, Chicago Dog, and about any breakfast item. Ample portions — we usually take home leftovers. Breakfast is now served all day so you needn’t worry about that review. Hours have also been expanded somewhat, although maybe not enough for somebody who has the huevos to give a place a bad review just because they can’t eat there whenever they want.(It’s about like panning them because of their slightly finicky bathroom door lock, the only thing we’ve ever had a complaint about!) Chill, sir: this little find is not exactly located in a huge labor market, and there’s probably not much upside for them in staying open long hours just for you. Plan your trip so you can eat here — it’s the best restaurant for many many miles around.

I ate here twice in the past couple of weeks since I was traveling back and forth along Hwy 285 for business. The first time I had a Kenosha burger(cooked to order!) and the second time I had the Reuben sandwich. Both sandwiches were excellently prepared with lots of flavor. The coleslaw was great too. My friend had the Hiker’s Breakfast with eggs, toast, and country-style fried potatoes and she said it was very good. Breakfast is available all day long. The staff was friendly and the owner was a genuinely nice guy. This is a great place to stop on your way to Guanella Pass, Fairplay or Buena Vista.

This place was wonderful! Our friend had been raving about this place since we got in the car before our hike that day. We knew we needed to try it out! We got there at about 12:30 on a Saturday and there were 3 other groups there. The women working behind the counter was so friendly. The two boys ordered the special, which was a pulled pork breakfast burrito and one also ordered a side biscuit + gravy. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito — smothered in green chile! It was delicious, and definitely lived up to the hype! My boyfriend couldn’t resist the peanut butter bacon donut. It sounds weird, but he said it was delicious. Great gem along 285! It is only open from 7 – 3 so get there on time!

One of the most delicious burgers I’ve had in a long, long time! And with very friendly staff. Owning a cabin in Park County, but living full time in the Denver area, we spend a lot of time travelling along 285, and thought we’d tried most of the restaurants along that corridor. But we had missed out on the Kenosha Café. We walked in just before noon on a beautiful Saturday and were greeting by the woman running the front. She ushered us up to the counter to order and was very very friendly. The menu is small and basic, but I think that allows them to make better food. I had the Kenosha burger and sweet potato fries and it was super juicy and delicious. My husband had a patty melt that he agreed was terrific. One daughter had the scrambled eggs and thickly cut bacon from the kids’ menu and my other daughter had the homemade Mac and Cheese from the adult menu. The mac and cheese was really good. The woman running the front was all over checking on pepole and wondering how everyone had heard about the place and the cook/chef even came out to make sure everyone was happy. We will be sure to return there again on our next trip up to our cabin!

The Kenosha Café owners refused to stay open after 3pm when Kenosha Pass closed at 2pm. I can’t give less than 1 star… What idiots and piss poor Park County business representatives the owners of Kenosha Café are for not staying open past their normal 3pm closing time and turning away all those potential customers stranded with no where else nearby to wait out the closure. Wonder why people just pass thru Park County towards destinations North & South like Denver & Buena Vista??? Piss poor service from The Kenosha Café leaves a bad taste in their mouth and Park County doesn’t get another chance to make a first impression to those travelers. We live here in Park Co and say BooHiss Kenosha Café and we will NEVER eat at your establishment again.

I love a good breakfast. Kenosha Café did not disappoint. In fact I was thrilled to find that I could substitute Gluten-free bread for the toast in my eggs and potatoes. Yummy!!!
