In baseball it’s three strikes your out, but in this case two strikes and that’s it. This is the second time eating at the haul and our last. We had the cuban which is far from a cuban sandwich, there was so much fat and gristle, it was impossible to chew. Then there is the«animal burger» which consists of beef and pork very oily with a thick burger bun, the name says it, an animal burger but, the fries were awesome. I won’t even talk about the lady breast feeding while she drank a couple glasses of wine at the table next to us, but hey, that’s not the hauls fault, but the food is. The waitress at our table felt bad and did say they would get us something else so thats our fault. We also had the pizza which was good somewhat bland but overall not bad.

The BEST place in Grants Pass for drinks and food. Cool atmosphere, everything is on point. The 2−5pm special, 2 tacos for $ 5 with a side salad is amazing. The butternut squash tacos are seriously the best veggie tacos I’ve ever had and I’ve been all around.

This place is supercasual in a great way! The foods delicious and it’s perfect after hard days work! And they even have live music from time to time.

Pretty good food. If you are ok with hipsters, long beards, beanies, and guys in skinny jeans then this is your place.

We stopped on our way south. The atmosphere was fantastic and I had a hard cider from the tap. Overall our family of 4 was disappointed because the flavors were bland even though we ordered food that is traditionally well spiced. Here were the positives: Cuban sandwich roll, pickled veggies, side of greens, dry hard cider on tap and the atmosphere. Disappointing: chicken tacos, chorizo tacos, Cuban sandwich because the food was bland and a little greasy. Bad: chicken wings because they were soggy and flavorless and garlic fries because there was no garlic.

Best Grants pass stop! Excellent food, healthy options! The butternut tacos were amazing and satisfying. Fantastic real French fries. The vegan pizza is outstanding with real brick oven flavor and crisp crust! Grilled veggies. We will stop here every trip! Free seltzer water with lemon and limes too! Great prices.

GP is on the come up!!! Hands down the best pizza in town, probably one of the best atmospheres in town. You feel like you’re elsewhere, it’s great. The crew working made you feel welcomed and answers any questions you have. Fiancé and I both had a pizza, and both had fries he chose and liked the curry fries but since I’m not big on curry and love Rosemary I got the rosemary fries and maaaan were they perfect. He got the 3 cheese pizza and I got the Margherita. So yummy and the bottoms weren’t burnt like sometimes happens in those amazing authentic pizza ovens. Oh & the drinks, the drinnnkkksss! He got the 19** something? Beer and it was pretty good, sour and hoppy lol.(I’m no beer connoisseur) I picked the peach ginger fermented soda and I’m actually craving the drink itself as I type this. If you’re still reading this, just go, go get some great food you won’t regret. Oh! They’re also open pretty late for this area.

The Haul is packed full of palate titillating fare. From the brew to the brick oven pizza, you’ll be hooked from your first taste.

I was really excited to try this place out, mostly because it has an atmosphere that you don’t really see that often in GP. A total bummer that I wasn’t very impressed with the overall experience. The waitresses weren’t very friendly, the line was too long for a late lunch on a Sunday, and the tables were wobbly and uncomfortable. I will say that their pizza dough is amazing and the ingredients are fresh and simple. Probably the best pizza I’ve had in town. The industrial décor is pretty rad, too. It looks like it will be a cool place to have a drink in the summer when they open up the rolling bay doors. May give it another shot, but I think I dig Climate City more.

Went to a private party here. Service was great and the bartenders were knowledgeable. Drink selection also great. The«Broad Shoulders» cocktail was surprisingly good. They’ve designed some clever mixed drink combos here, and the menu is thought out as well. Food was decent. My husband and I shared the curry fries, pickle plate, and butternut squash tacos. It’s so nice to see places like these putting out partly vegetarian/vegan menus! Curry fries were tasty and the curry sauce they pour on is sweet and hearty. Tacos were good but kind of bland and wet, and the pickle plate was alright. I love pickled items and the daikon(at least I think it was daikon) was really nice, but overall the selection was disappointing/not memorable and not worth what they are charging for basically rhubarb, radish, and cabbage with some stale crackers. I know we’ll come back here, so I’ll try that plate again and hopefully they have better items. Relaxed/industrial/rustic décor inside. It’s a casual and easy place to bring people from all walks of life and have everyone enjoy themselves. Recommended!

Excellent food, excellent drink, excellent prices, excellent service, excellent vibe and ambiance. Found it on accident while traveling and came back the next day brought my mom and dad who live in Cave Junction and they have repeatedly loved every time they’ve come back. Organic farm raised fresh! And home brewed! The best

The Haul is a great addition to Grants Pass dining choices. A casual atmosphere with a physical setting more like an urban area, the menu is fun, easy and varied. I love the vegetarian tacos with sweet potatoes. The beer selection alone is worth coming in for, and the specialty drinks make you just want to work your way down the list! Not an intimate experience though, be prepared to sit on benches near others and speak in a loud voice. Since you’ll be working your way through the drink list, you might as well meet people.

If you’re a local, visitor, or even a passerby around Grants Pass, you have to try this place. My husband and I were visiting Grants Pass and loved this place so much we went there two nights in a row. First, the atmosphere is funky and cool. It does not matter if you’re young or old! The beer selection features Oregon craft beers and my husband loved the choices. He found a few tasty brews that he had never seen elsewhere. The food was great. The pizza is delicious. We had both the pesto and the cheese pizzas. The crust was perfect and the toppings even better. We also tried the fries — yum. My husband tried the gnocchi and recommends it. But the best thing there… churros with salted caramel. To.die.for. If you’re lucky you’ll get to meet Sadie, the owner’s daughter. She’s charming and had enough personality to fill-up all of Grants Pass.

When we visited our friends here in Grants Pass, we came here one evening for dinner and some«social time». I immediately liked the vibe at this place; especially the beer benches outside that reminded me of many visits to beer gardens back in Germany. The Haul offers a huge selection of local beer on tap; they definitely have heard the birds singing about the craft beer movement. I actually had a flight of beers… I believe it was four or five beers that I could pick myself. Along with that I ordered the fermentation platter which included a selection of krauts and other pickled vegetables and some bread. I had a nice time here and if fate would ever bring me back to Grants Pass, I would certainly not pass on the opportunity to come by here!

Grants Pass is the next Portland, FORREALZ! …just kidding. But there are some great restaurants popping up here, and we now make the trek to GP more than we do to Ashland, primarily because there are options of deliciousness in a non-pretentious environment. The Haul is a «haulmark»(yes, i did) of excellence in GP. Hands down, 100%, the most interesting and arguably best beer spot in the Rogue Valley, featuring the excellent craft ales and lagers of Connor Fields Brewing. The food is oh-so-delicious, and quite reasonable in price! A must have is the shitake sandwich – perfectly cooked and tasty! The rosemary-garlic fries are worthy of a trip on their own… Tacos? Yip. Good stuff. Pickle plate? Top notch. Now, the beer. Exploratory in nature, lots of emphasis on the brewing styles of Belgium and Europe in general, with American nuance and hop profile. We love the Saison’s – a sure bet if on tap. Recently tried the Rice Lager and it was amazing. If you are done with the mundane, go here. It’s worth the drive!

Employees: Polite, Courteous and professional. Atmosphere: you either love it or not. It was not our style. Others might like the self service environment and hipster mood but just didn’t fly with us. Beverages: 5 they have good craft beer and even had Old Rasputin from Lost Coast Brewery in Fort Bragg, CA. Food: terrible. I ordered the Cuban sandwich which was not anything remotely near a Cuban sandwich. My wife had the chicken Cesar salad. Lettuce was fresh but dressing was runny and the chicken appeared to be sliced lunch meat. Other: While many in this area support marijuana, I do not approve of a public restaurant having marijuana information booklets available right near the ordering counter for leisurely reading. We were not aware this restaurant supported that. Overall employee service was good but I don’t see us returning. PS: Maybe we should have ordered a pizza. The Chef was definitely busy cooking them up.

Interesting place with diverse cocktails and even Nitro Coffee. They also sell cold cuts and cheeses and have a limited selection of small plate offerings and a good selection of beer. This place comes across as very hip and with it but lacks Public WiFi… My wife had the Smoked Pork with Garlic Potatoes and she loved it. I had the Chorizo Black Bean Tacos and the Pickled Vegetable platter — both of which Were very tasty. Highly recommended!

This new gastropub in Grants Pass feels like it came straight outta Portland. They created a very cool space by converting an old industrial warehouse into an edgy, yet unpretentious, hipster joint. They made a great design choice to keep the garage doors that run along the side of the space and built a bar alongside it so patrons can sit and look out the garage door windows. I’m guessing in the summer those doors will be open, making a very cool integration into the outdoor space and allowing fresh air inside. The walls are exposed brick and the ceilings are open, exposing all of the wood beams and pipework. It’s pretty gorgeously done and suits the vibe of this place to a T. So, we had heard from various folks in the valley all about this mystery brewery, Conner Fields, out in the Applegate. We could never figure out how to try their beers since they don’t have a tasting room. Welcome to The Haul, a restaurant that coupled with Conner Fields to serve all of their beers along with excellent locally-sourced cuisine. We excitedly tried a flight of 5 for $ 8. Mind you, there are about 10 Conner Fields brews to try from. The one thing I would recommend is they offer a paper menu of their beers along with brief descriptions. As it is now, they have an electric monitor on the wall that digitally displays the available beers but there are no descriptors… all other drinks and food are on cute little paper menus. It would serve them well to print up one for the beers too. We tried the cream lager, APA, brown ale, porter, robot ale, and a saison. Ok, my husband and our dining partners all fell head over heels in love with the cream lager. For me, it was too«Lite» beer, but it certainly wasn’t bad in any way. Surprisingly for me, I LOVED their brown ale and their porter and the APA. I usually don’t love darker beers as most places these days muddle it with chocolate or coffee flavors whereas I prefer a purer, less«infused-flavor» taste. So I was blown away by the brown and walked out with a growler full. They made me try the porter too after I protested that I hate porters these days – they again proved me wrong. In all honesty, every beer we tasted was excellent! Conner Fields clearly knows what is missing in this valley: amazing, clean beers that aren’t copycats of what everyone else is doing now(IPAs *cough*). As for the rest of our experience, service was excellent– this is a place you walk up and order at the counter, then sit at a picnic table in communal seating. This place is large enough that you aren’t really sharing a table with anyone though, so don’t let that be a deterrent. The food: we started with the cheese plate, the pork dumplings, the rosemary garlic fries, and oysters. The cheese plate could be improved upon as I felt it was 3 similar white cheddar cheeses. A soft and a bleu could add some variety. It was served with house-cured ham that was fantastic– the outer seasoning was so stinking yummy! The platter also included their house-brined pickles and those were interesting and new– excellent; and some addictive spicy walnuts. They do have a pickle sampler appetizer that I will definitely try next time. The pork dumplings were fantastic– greasy, but so good. My friend devoured the oysters and said they were great. Last, the fries. Oh my– sooooo good! These are wedges infused with garlic and rosemary somehow. They were crispy and served with homemade ketchup– I can’t wait to eat these again in the near future! For our entrees, I got the cubano sandwich. Again, they cure their meats in-house, like the pickles and some other stuff, so the cubano contained some outstanding ham. My one minor quibble is to use less aioli as it felt very mayonnaise-y at times, but that’s being nitpicky. My husband got the sweet potato tacos and loved them, although he agreed they are a tad heavy handed with the aioli and maybe it should go on the side. Regardless, he downed every bite. We planned on trying the churros with salted caramel for dessert but were too full after all the beer and eats. Next time. And there will be a next time! This place excites me. It feels very authentic and urban and I like what they are doing. I love that they are partnered with Conner Fields– what a unique way to showcase your brews to the world! If you are a beer fan, do yourself a favor and get over here and fall in love with the best new place to hit our valley in a long time.
