Been shopping here for years, talk to Shane he won’t steer you wrong. I’m apt to find the best pricing and the haven’t disappointed me yet.

As an avid gardener, I’ve been going to Grass Valley Hydro for many years. This place is a warehouse of hydro equipment, grow lights and plant nutrients. Most other hydro stores closer to my home offer a few things, but no one has a selection like this place! I especially like that they have a lot of organic garden products, which is really important to me. As far as prices go, let me put it this way, they have a huge sign behind the counter that says that they price match(or beat) their competitors prices. I’m on their discount program, so I have not had to ask for a price match. At first, I didn’t think the discount program was very good, but after you shop there a couple of times, the discount goes up really fast. The other thing I like about this place is how helpful the staff is. They are knowledgeable and full of good ideas. Some places I’ve been to I don’t think the employees even know how to do an indoor grow. Anyway, the best way to describe Hydrogarden is that it is like the Costco of hydro stores. They have a lot of everything and in big sizes too with great pricing. The only thing I don’t like about this place is how far it is from where I live. Guess I can’t blame them for that. It is well worth the drive to shop in what is really more of a wholesale warehouse. The neighborhood stores just can’t compete once you’ve been to this place.

I love this store. They give me 20% discount on all of the products I need. When I need special items they have no problem ordering it and it’s there when they say it’s going to be there.

This store has been open since 2000 and is now one of a few hydroponic gardening stores in the Grass Valley area. I’ll start with the good first. They offer a good selection of products, and convenience for someone who lives locally and needs something NOW. I’ve shopped there numerous times over the years when I needed something NOW, but I also have the sense to shop around and compare prices… and this leads up to why I can’t give this place more than 2 stars. Their prices are TERRIBLE. They price gouge, and when I’ve asked them«What gives?» in the past, I get lame answers like, «Well, the cost of oil has gone up and, blah, blah, blah». From what I see, they price gouge because Grass Valley is a bit off the beaten path and they don’t have any nearby competition. Oh, AG Natural is 5 minutes away, you say. Well, the same people who own Grass Valley Hydrogarden also own AG Natural, so don’t expect to find better prices there. I guess they don’t think that people will consult the internet, or drive 45 minutes to Rocklin where the prices are 20% lower than what they charge. If you create an «account» with them they will give you a miniscule 5−10% off their already high prices depending on how much you spend, but you’re still getting ripped off. Even with their«discount» the prices at the store in Rocklin still beats them by 20%. If you don’t believe me, consult online stores like , or compare prices with GrowBiz in Rocklin. You will see what I mean. I don’t hate the store, I just hate their lousy prices and it’s time that someone called them out on it.
