This is a cute little theatre! The seats are fairly comfortable and the sound was good. Another real perk is the reasonable cost of snacks! Believe it or not, we got a coke, a bottled water and a box of M&M’s for just over $ 8. If you want a huge theatre with all the bells and whistles this isn’t going to be your cup of tea, but the Sutton Cinemas is perfectly fine, and is even a bit refreshing. After all, we’re either living in or visiting Grass Valley for its forested hills and quaint downtown… the Sutton fits right in.

Great local theater. Unlike your corporate 10 plexes, this theater actually has a pitcher of FREE iced tap water, instead of forcing clients to buy environmentally unsound bottled water to go with salty popcorn. They also have for sale some great varieties of sparkling waters just as they offered at the Nevada theater for decades. This theater schedules lots of art house and more sophisticated dramas that appeal to a more adult audience. Love how the movie theater scene in the GV-NC area has developed over the past 30 years. We definitely drive out of our way to come to this theater rather than go to our local 10 plex.

My first visit to Sutton Cinemas was last night to see the movie«Tammy». The movie was set to start at 9:15 pm. I knew before arriving that it was a very small theatre, so I was not shocked. The 2 screen theatre was very clean. There were 2 people working the counter, 1 for ticket sales and the other taking snack bar orders. My husband and I ordered a large popcorn and a large drink and headed into the theatre. The seats were comfortable and fairly new. The previews started promptly at 9:15. The picture and sound quality were both great. I am very impressed with Sutton Cinemas! I would not hesitate to go there and watch a movie again.

They need to have the girls working their put their hair up when serving popcorn. One girl had very long hair that was waving around practically in the popcorn while she was serving it. And I was not surprised when a woman next to me returned her popcorn to a young man working because it had a long hair in it. And when she told him that she should have her hair up he didn’t say anything. Doesn’t seem like the people that work here make much of an effort. Movie theatre food safety should be taken just as seriously as any.
