I watched this restaurant being built and have been wanting to go there since it has opened. I was not disappointed. The food is very good, the décor is beautiful with a really nice full bar and brick pizza ovens. The staff are friendly and attentive. It looks more expensive than it is has they have a good menu(lots of pizza options) with the most expensive item being what I ordered lobster fettuccine(30.00) which I had the next day for breakfast LOL.

I don’t like writing negative reviews, but in this case, it’s warranted. My cousin recommended this place, so I thought I would check it out for lunch. Ordered pizza, beer, and espresso afterwards. Pizza was pretty good, service attentive(the place was empty– one other table being served), and I thought the prices were reasonable. Second time, I made reservations for a group of 8. Disaster. I asked for a wine list or drink menu– they don’t have one, just house white or red. Ok. They have a full bar– they could generate more revenue with a drink menu(duh). We ordered appetizers, which all came a few moments apart, which was fine. We ordered entrees, where service became more spotty. Waiter was less attentive, went missing for long periods of time. Also, some entrees were cold, the squid entrée was rubbery, and I suspect the clams and mussels in my risotto were not properly cleaned as I got some grit along with my rice. Ugh. We decide we want to order coffee and dessert. Well, we couldn’t get our waiters’ attention for a good 20 minutes. Also– dessert menu? Nope, go take a walk to the dessert case, where there is no one to tell you what anything is nor are there any signs explaining this. We ordered some cannoli and cassata. Cannoli was stale and not fresh. Same for the cassata. At this point, I was over this place and just wanted to pay and leave. We had been there for over two hours. Again, trying to get the waiters’ attention to no avail. I finally get the check, and have to wait sooooo long for him to get it, that I just walked to the counter to pay. I had noticed that the risotto was more expensive than what was written on the menu. I asked about it, at which point I was told that they had raised the price. WTF. Now, a restaurant has every right to raise prices, but YOUSHOULDEITHERCHANGETHEMENU, ORBEINFORMEDWHENYOUORDERTHEITEM. No offer to rectify the discrepancy. I paid, left a nice tip(our waiter was nice, and I blame management for poor service) and left. Sorry for the long review, but this place needs to get their shit together. Get a drink menu, get a dessert menu, update your prices, get some new chefs and more people to expedite orders. Run your business right.

I’ve been to this place numerous times before and it has always been«okay», Average over priced Italian food. But last night out the icing on the cake and I will NEVERRETURN. Usually we ask for a waiter named Bille. My parents loved him, he was a great waiter. Hard worker who tried his very best with every task. Last night we found out Bille no longer works here. The server we were given was absolutely HORRIBLE. It took him forever to get us some drinks, my mom waited for water I can’t even tell you for how long during dinner. My dads espresso came in a coffee mug. Our favorite waiter Bille always served my dad his coffee in a regular espresso cup. The waiter last night said it comes better in a large coffee cup?! Says who!!! The food the salty, we waited forever for it to come out … It was hot thank god but very very salty. We will never return to this place. Do yourself a favor and go eat somewhere else.

Heard about this place from a friend so decided to take my grandmother there for her birthday. We go in at 5:30 and the place is totally empty. We sit and get our drinks and place our order so far so good. Then after our apps come out our waitress disappears after several attempts to get her attention finally one of the other staff tell her that we were trying to get her attention for 15 minutes instead of just coming to check on us herself. At this point there are two tables in the whole place us, a table of 6, and another table with 2. Our entrees finally come and half of the stuff is missing but there was no one to tell the waitress was gone again and the manager was sitting in the back with his friend eating and drinking never once checking on our table. He did not say one word to us from beginning of the meal to the end. The food we did get was subpar. Finally our waitress was back to take our coffee order. We get it and you guessed it she disappeared so while our coffee is getting cold we were trying to get someone’s attention so we can order dessert and sing happy birthday. We ask our waitress for a dessert menu and they don’t have one. We ask what they have and she tells us «There are some cakes in the fridge no idea what kind.» Then just stands there looking at us like we were going to order the mystery cake. It was so embarrassing taking my family there and would never eat there again. It is really unfortunate because the décor was very nice but the service and food definitely was awful.

2 hours so far for a plate of pasta and still waiting… This place is ridiculous & the food is not even that good. Don’t expect to be coming back unless they hire another chef and waiters and waitresses that actually understand and speak English.

Where do I start? I was excited about trying this place as it is close to the house and there are fewer and fewer places to go these days as the neighborhood is changing. First, I ask for a wine list. The server tells me that that they do not have one. He can offer house white or red. How long has this place been open? To me that’s plain stupid as a restaurant owner. I mean, get it together, man! Then they want to charge a 20.00 corking fee. Are they serious??? You are serving shit wine and want to charge people to bring their good stuff. The food was subpar at best. Honestly it wasn’t that good. Their pizza may rock but I wouldn’t know. I didn’t try it. Then I attempt to order dessert and ask for a menu. They tell me that they do not have a menu for this either. Our waitress messed up our order but we were understanding as she was new so I’m not even going to go into this. The only people that seem to be frequenting this place were the regulars at the bar and ordering Booz like it was going out of stock. We won’t be back!

Tre Fontane at 222 Avenue U is a restaurant to be AVOIDEDLIKETHEPLAGUE. We went there on a recommendation to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. I have no idea what was going on in the kitchen, but something was obviously not right. There were 8 of us for dinner so not an unusually large party. We ordered 5 appetizers for the table, the only thing that required any cooking at all was an order of baked clams. The rest of them were seafood salad, carpaccio, mozzarella and prosciutto, bruschetta and oysters. The seafood, clams and mozzarella came out in about 20 minutes. The mozzarella and prosciutto came out 10 minutes later, the bruschetta 10 minutes after that and the oysters never appeared at all. The main courses were even more of a disaster. The first 4 entrees did not appear until 30 to 40 minutes later and the remaining 4 entrees appeared after another 20 to 30 minutes. The food was poor to mediocre. Nothing had any seasoning or taste unless you added salt. A few of the entrees did not match the description on the menu. The risotto was a gluey tasteless pile of starch, the gnocchi was bland and missing the mozzarella, one entrée was stone cold and the lobster was overcooked so it tasted like rubber. Even the rack of lamb had no taste, which is pretty hard to accomplish. Aside from missing the pistachios that were described on the menu, I have never been served a rack of lamb with the aluminum foil still wrapped around the bones. The lamb was also a rip off since it was three pieces of meat the size of silver dollars. There was no one to complain too, since the poor waiters were so busy running around trying to keep everyone happy that getting their attention was next to impossible. The two waiters in the white shirts did their best to keep things moving, but they were bearing the brunt of whatever the issue was, since every table in the place appeared to have the same experience. They should be commended. The ladies who were busing the tables were just plain intrusive and acted like they were doing us a favor. The place tried to compensate by giving complimentary dessert, but it was too little, too late. I will not recommend this place to anyone and obviously I will not be going there for another meal. The next landmark in Brooklyn! Beautiful place with super attentive staff. Casual but elegant? Not sure how they pull it off. Food is homemade and delicious. Great spot for lunch or dinner. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. I’m glad that Donald at Joe’s Bar recommended it.

Great authentic Italian food in South Brooklyn. However, the atmosphere and décor definitely are better than the food and service. The service can be quite spotty and I believe that I may have got food poisoning the last time I was here. However, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. What I won’t overlook is the Italian being spoken, especially around people that aren’t Italian or that they don’t suspect to be Italian. The last time I was here, I brought my friends that speak Russian so they suspected I did as well. Unfortunately, they thought I couldn’t understand Italian and said things they wouldn’t want me to hear. Twice was enough but worth a try if in the area!

This is as real as it can get! Authentic tasty Italian food. Oven made pizzas is a must have! Not oily, close to healthy pizzas lol. The décor feels as if your eating in Italy. They even have real Italian cooks and staff that speak Italian, and that’s the way it should be. Can’t have a jose making food and calling it Italian. This place keeps it real! The best thing that ever happened in this neighborhood.

Bente at the bar is a awesome bartender. He’s funny and can please a crowd. Their eggplant brick oven pizza is hands-down truly authentic Italian pizza. It was an honor to share a great glass of wine and a sweet convo with my good friend.

I decided to try them because I live around. I was dissapointed. It is beautiful, yet half the effort they put into the décor should have been put into the food. I had the shrimp rissotto and my husband hd a pizza. The pizza was average and the rissotto was not good, you couldt tell the shrimp were not fresh and had only like 3 of them. I really hope they get better cooks.

Had my birthday dinner here with family in the first week of November, place recently opened, no liquor license at that time. One waiter was very polite but quite forgetful, asked for water plenty times and other items also several reminders. He was helpful in trying to explain the menu to us because it is HORRIBLE to read. Such small gold print on a piece of wood and dim lighting. Also weird lay out on the menu. I can understand not having a lot of staff as they are new but it took quite a while to get any waiter’s attention. The food was delicious I will say that, except for the eggplant parm. It was cold I had to send it back, I hate sending something back but who can eat cold eggplant parm with hardened cheese. It came back barely any different I just said thank you and let it be. Sat on the table I couldn’t eat it. My brother asked for medium rare rib eye and got a barely cooked piece of meat. Deff some adjustments they gotta make but that’s okay because staff was polite and accommodating and that goes a long way. The owner was there towards the end of our meal and provided coffee and tea on the house which was appreciated. The star of the show was the ricotta pie, I’m coming back if for anything for that pie ! Btw beautiful restaurant beautiful décor very spacious!

Tre Fontane(Three Fountains) is a lovely new addition to Avenue U. The orangey hues inside with the Italian statuettes and fountains provide a warm welcome to it’s diners. The bar area, unused(BYOB) at the time of this writing, will attract a waiting crowd in the future. The tables are amply spaced. So far, the locals– an older Italian crowd– are piling in to taste what the chef has to offer, although, my first attempt at a reservation was met with an «I’m sorry, we are having a large party at that time».(Good sign). The prices all in all were very reasonable and should attract many of the mature folk living in the area as well as those coming from other parts of Brooklyn, Manhattan and beyond. Appetizers and salads were in the $ 9 range; pizzas $ 10-$ 14; pastas were around $ 12 and entrees, as expected, around $ 20+. Desserts were approximately $ 8 with specials somewhat higher. The portions were large by my standards, good for those who complain they constantly get small portions at restaurants these days. We started off with a Sicilian Salad(Tomatoes, onions and capers) and Pizza Siciliana(sauce, mozzarella and anchovies) — oh, did I tell you this was a Sicilian restaurant? I dared to have Spaghetti Nero Seppia — black pasta with black squid ink sauce(wow! it sure was tasty). Other dishes ordered were Agnello Grigliato(grilled lamb chops done perfectly rare) with veggies; Branzino Aqua Pazza(tasty fish sitting on top of a wonderful soupy concoction) with veggies on the side– you’re gonna use lots of bread to sop this all up. The desserts: Tiramisu, of course, in a martini glass and Profiteroles special coated with a pistachio icing — yum. The service was great as were the Italian(and Turkish) accents. I’ll be back.

Didn’t get to eat inside the place yet but it is gorgeous inside and I will go soon. I get take out from here while I’m at work. I’ve tried different brick oven pizzas and they were all great! I also had the calzone and it was huge. The calzone is very filling and comes with ham or prosciutto inside. From the appetizers I’ve tried the seafood salad and the octopus salad and both were really good! It’s also a good size portion. I am defiantly going to eat inside soon and try the gnocchi!
