We went there and it was not something we were expecting. The couch was torn. Food was not good, we ordered a chicken enchiladas and they gave us pork enchiladas. When we called the server she said its a chicken but it was pork. My fiancée was nice enough to ate that .also prices were outrages. I was dissapointed after my visit.

Love this place! They have incredible burritos that are ginormous! The chips and salsa is my favorite! If you’re looking for great Mexican food, look no further! Ordering online is an added bonus!

We haven’t been here in a few months. Tonight’s dinner was a mixed experience unfortunately. In the past they have always been four or five stars. We started with the guacamole. This is homemade and usually one of the stars of the show. It was off. Tastes way too lime-y. When we mentioned it, they said they simply reduced the salt. Nope. It was off. I wished they tried it. The chips and salsa they serve were OK. The salsa didn’t taste fresh. Very disappointing. This is not the same as in the past. It was like they were serving us leftovers. The entrees were very good. They were fresh, made well and tasted great. I had three tacos and decided to mix it up. Mexican sausage, spicy tacos, and skirt steak. All were very good. The starters were very disappointing.

I really like this place. I had Lomo Chili DeArbol, wow, it was HOT. Don’t order this if you can’t handle spice. It has a very nice hot spicy flavor. I have had it a couple of times and it was great both times; comes with corn tortillas. The beans I just don’t get, black beans that are kinda soupy, but that did not affect my enjoyment of this dish. We had BURRITOPOBLANO with mole sauce, as big as your head with great mole sauce. This is real mexican food that is cooked to order in an open kitchen where you can watch what is happening! Yum. This place makes loosing Rudy’s not so bad.

Went here based off of the overly positive reviews here on Unilocal and found the place to be an absolute waste of money and a disappointment. With so many authentic(and cheaper) Mexican alternatives in the area, I struggle to find what anyone would like about this place. Overpriced for small portions. Substitutions were not allowed for my wife’s combination plate. Food was mediocre(at best). Overly dry and bland… flavorless. Charged for soda refills and chip and salsa refills… pretty ridiculous considering the norm at most Mexican restaurants is the complete opposite. If you’re only experience with Mexican food is Taco Bell, then I could see how this establishment would seem great to you. Otherwise, don’t bother.

As a taqueria extraordinaire I give this establishment 4 stars for the quality of food. It was very good and filling. It was however more expensive than any taqueria I have ever visited. I ordered the veggie burrito and a pineapple Jarrito soda, my total was $ 11.00. I will come back if I’m in the area.

Pretty good Mexican food I had the vadgeaterian burrito with avocado and cilantro and a side of guacamole and chips and a cup of water and my bill was $ 15.99. Pretty expensive for a taqueria but the food is good and the restaurant is clean. The portions are not as big as other taquerias and it’s pricy that’s why I give it 3 stars

Seriously good food. The Chorizo is awesome! Beans and rice are great. Burritos, tacos very good. We have not tried anything else but everything we have tried we have enjoyed.

This will be my first one-star review of a restaurant that actually has good food. I had a combination plate that included an outstanding chile relleno, flavorful chicken taco, and a decent enchilada. I handed my server a coupon from the Entertainment Book and she looked at me like my hair was purple. She proceeded to get the cordless phone and call the manager/owner, all the while holding up people waiting for service. I felt embarrassed. Long story short, they won’t honor their own coupons anymore unless you have a big party. This is usually not a good sign for a restaurants longevity. Adiós amigos.

Lots of good reviews but this place is always empty. Anyone know why? I’m just asking.

In a word: delicious. When we pulled up, I thought it was closed. It was about dinner time but saw the OPEN sign and went on in. There were 2 people enjoying the soccer game while they were waiting for us to arrive(or so I’d like to believe). The menu had a pretty good selection with easy-to-handle prices. The food was prepared immediately after we ordered it. Fresh food is always a beautiful thing to see(and to eat). All in all, nothing was overly spice or overly bland. Everything tasted pretty safe. And there’s nothing wrong with safe. We’ll be back!

This is the family’s favorite Mexican restaurant, which is a great accomplishment considering that we don’t always agree on food. Also, you should not leave hungry. We usually dine-in but take-out is available. Excellent!

This is definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is always tasty — I particularly like their Chiles Rellenos(hope I spelled that right) with lime Jarritos. The service has never disappointed. Truly the only reason I don’t eat here more often is that my wife is convinced, despite my many efforts, that Mexican food is hot and spicy and she doesn’t like hot-and-spicy food. On the other hand, my kids enjoy it but think the portion sizes are too large. I also like that they have online ordering. I do like Puerto Acapulco and their are some realy good Mexican places in the ROund Lake area as well, I give the edge to Los Mogotes.

Their beans are silky, not soupy, which is a huge test for any Mexican restaurant. Their salsa is a little watery, but has great flavor. Have had two meals there now and enjoyed both.

Lets talk about the chips… yes, they make them from scratch(I asked), and they are the best dang chips i’ve ever had in my life. Now lets talk about the guac, absolutely amazing, it is chunky/creamy enough, it had enough flavor, and the size was perfect. The menu has some very authentic mexican flavors to it, which is a huge plus. They give you some descriptions, but if you don’t understand something ask the servers and they will give you better description. The service was great, my water was always filled, our chip basket was filled. I saw them make all our food from scratch, nothing frozen or reheated. I had the Chile Ranchero/Carne Asada dinner which was delicious, and my husband had a carne burrito. The rice was delicious that came on the side, and so were the beans. Also their salsa was very authentic, and it had just the right amount of kick. Don’t judge this little gem by its cover. It is in a strip mall, but it is open all day long(unlike some places that are closed from 2 – 5). I can’t wait to come back from some tacos and tostadas!

Los Mogotes has been open for awhile near me and my wife and I only just went there this past Friday night. Small, comfortable place apparently run by a husband-wife — she takes the orders and runs the food, he cooks it. Nice. I won’t say it’s the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, but it’s very well made. I think why I gave them 4 stars is because of the extremely flavorful, spicy sauce that the burrito I ordered was in. The burrito itself had this good flavor inside, though I’d say that I think the meat gets cut a little too small for my tastes. But still, a very good burrito. And that sauce is indicative of a talent that deserves further exploration of the menu. One of those items is the Burrito Michoacano which is a spicy pork burrito with a mole sauce that just begs me to try it.

Driven by this place a dozen times, decided to stray from my usual place for Mexican and try here. Greeting was fast, as were the chips and salsa in front of us. Menu has many great options, but I stuck with my staple: Enchiladas, 2 chicken and 1 beef. Food flavor was phenomenal, not sure what spices are in there but this blew away the other places I’ve been to in the area. Everything had amazing flavor, right down to the rice. Its a mom-and-pop place, so service should be expected from this kind of setup. They don’t serve alcohol, but there is a sign up saying you can BYOB. I’ll certainly be back.

I work down the street at the College of Lake County and my lunch options are pretty limited. Los Mogotes serves decent Mexican food for the price and area. This restaurant offers waiter-service or take-out. I met some friends here for lunch and we were in and out within one hour. The service was fast and friendly and I was satisfied with my meal. The tacos were fairly big and filled with large pieces of nicely cooked steak. I paid about $ 10(including tax & tip) for a 3 taco plate with beans and rice. Pretty good, considering the alternative option is to eat lunch in a college cafeteria.
