Berens Frozen Custard

I’ve been eating frozen custard across the nation, and this is the best custard I’ve had in years. To find better, you’d either have to back in time in St Louis, or head to Milwaukee.
Beren’s custard is top notch stuff!

Omg!!! Simply the best. Generous portions of everything! I had custard, nuts and brownie in EVERY BITE! And Mr. Berens personality is even better! :) Only downside is this place is too close to my house!

Found this on Unilocal after several ice cream/​yogurt dissapoinments. This place is the real deal. Simple perfection. Great service. Great custard. I got the peanut butter explosion, and it was fabulous. Hubby got the brownie sundae and he wolfed it down, exclaiming at each bite.

I can’t ice cream from anywhere else ever again. SO fresh and yummy! You can tell the owner really cares about customer service and quality and has been doing this for a long time.

We love this place. The Custard is awesome. Topping great. But most importantly their customer service is outstanding, they are great with adults and esp nice with kids. Great place for family’s. :D

Happened to come across this place, and I’m glad I did! It’s very thick and creamy. The bananas foster custard is amazing. The man behind the counter (I’m guessing the owner?) was very friendly as well. Will definitely be back!

There is a reason this place has five stars. Delicious custard and friendly service. My friends from up North even love it! I usually get the Grasshopper concrete, but I love the daily flavors as well — Cotton candy and cake batter are my favorites! Ugh, I am craving custard now!

This is a great place to go for frozen custard. There is vanilla, chocolate, and the flavor of the day. I usually get vanilla, but the butter pecan and peach are wonderful, too!

The frozen custard is always delicious, and the ‘flavor of the day’ is a great way to get me to come in for my favorite flavor. The chocolate on the daily menu is really my favorite, but is especially nice mixed with the coffee or caramel flavor days. The value for custard is great – much better product than the chain ice cream stores at a cheaper price.
The staff are very friendly, give good service, and the store is squeaky clean every single time we visit. We used to got to Sheridan’s in Tucker weekly, but after they closed we were thrilled to find Berens, and not too far from our house. We are regulars and love it!

Every flavor we’ve tried is wonderful… but the classic vanilla is my fav still :) But as others have said, Butter Pecan is to die for LOL. The workers are always nice and patient as it takes a while to decide what you want. Give it a try — you’ll love it!

I tried their butter pecan to die for! Its just so creamy and tasteful. The place itself its clean. Customer service was great. I will be going there again.

Oh. My. Side (and hips!). I don’t know what they put in this stuff that makes you get off of work early and sit in traffic on a Friday in December for frozen custard. Rich, creamy, and speaks to your soul. I can’t recommend any one thing because it’s all soooooo good. My grandson had officially denounced Brewster’s and that says a lot.

This is a five star product, with five star service!
So, after a couple of trips to Wisconsin, I’m a self-​proclaimed custard addict. Needing a fix with no planned return to the land of cheese curds and beer, I had to find a worthy replacement. We stopped in after a UGA game on the way back to Grayson (A+ location for where we were headed!).
Upon entry, the kid working seemed surprised to see us, which is fair, since we decided to stop in for a cup o’ custard when it happened to be around 35 degrees. Not cold for custard cravin’ Sconnies, but is considered Absolute Zero for Georgians.
I wish I knew the guy’s name who guided us through the flavors. Eagerly offering a sample of each, we were thoroughly informed as to what we wanted to lock in and take home with us. I was impressed that such a small shop still made small batches, from scratch, every single day.
After much deliberation, we settled on the simple choice: vanilla. Yeah, I know, not too adventurous, but you have to appreciate the classics. The vanilla is just vanilla-​y enough to complement the creamy goodness that lures us toward custard, rather than ice cream.
No, this isn’t world-​class custard. So what? We’re in Georgia, this is plenty good enough, you snobby transplants! I’ll say it again, I wish that I could remember the young man’s name who had helped us. It’s so odd to see 16 – 20 year-​olds be professional, bubbly, and helpful all at the same time. A true rarity. I’ll return there again because I’m confident that the service will be the same, and I’m a sucker for good service.
One last little tidbit– we left with a calendar of special flavors and events they have planned for each day. Drop in and get one, and I’ll guarantee you’ll be planning your next custard run two or three weeks in advance!

OMG i feel so jipped from my last review. We came back with my best friend and her brother and got the wild berry vanilla in a cup? (it had frozen berry pieces swirled into the vanilla) and her brother got the brownie bits swirled into his vanilla. AHHHHH soo good. It was almost the same price too! Gotta know what to order!

The custard at Berens is AWESOME!!! Creamy rich and flavorful, amazingly GOOD! Yesterday I had the Pumpkin Pie, what a treat! I went back and brought 1 pint to take home with me. I absolutely love love and love their custards. I have not yet been disappointed with any of their flavors. Their custard is the best thing I have tasted for a long time. Thanks Berens!

From someone who recently moved to Georgia from Wisconsin, I was looking for a place to get good frozen custard. Berens is 18 miles from my house but with the amazing reviews I deemed it completely worth it to take the drive for delicious custard. I must admit, I have pretty high standards when it comes to frozen custard. Maybe that is why I was disappointed with my experience. First off, the place I used to frequent in WI, Culver’s, has the best frozen custard you have ever tasted. The vanilla frozen custard from Berens is actually close to Culver’s. I would rate it just 1 step below. During our visit I bought vanilla custard and 3 pints to take home. The pints we took home were bananas foster, pistachio pineapple, and salted caramel.
The pints were pretty mediocre. My biggest complaint is Berens custard is artificially flavored. I was completely expecting the salted caramel to have actual caramel in it, but I was sorely dissapointed that it did not. The pistachio one didn’t even have actual pistachios or pineapple.

Omg… If it wasn’t so bad, I would donate a chunk of my paycheck to be prepaid for their custard. Like wow… seriously one of the best things I’ve ever tasted.
And every flavor is amazing, just tried the grasshopper mint one last week, and wow.

We just moved to town, and our favorite local custard shop closed a year or two ago… Now I can get fat again on sweet yummyness… Hooray!
It’s clean, the concrete is just as I remembered it from our favorite place, and the staff are nice too. WIN!

If u wanna blow your diet this is the best way to do it. My husband and i both ate «concretes» which are like Dairy Queens blizzards. I had the grasshopper and my husband had the peanut butter explosion. Both were awesome.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a dessert spot after eating lunch, and we are so lucky to have checked Unilocal to find Berens Frozen Custard! I wish I had caught the name of the associate there because she was very friendly and informative about their menu and flavors available. We informed her that it was our first time, and she let us try all of their flavors to make sure we would love it! They always have Chocolate and Vanilla and a «Special Flavor of the Day.» They have print out calendars of all the different flavors they have for each day of the month that you can take with you as well. I ended up choosing Black Walnut + Strawberry and my boyfriend selected from their Specialty Concretes. Very reasonable prices and walked out with both for $ 7.76! We loved everything and can’t wait to come back Tuesday for the Blueberry Cheesecake!
