One of the first places I went when I moved here. Absolutely love it. All of the bartenders are friendly, the atmosphere is nothing I’ve seen before, and the drinks are delicious. I would go here every night if I had the money.

Quaint lil spot with great ambiance. Would be way better if something about it was actually illegal(sell real Eastern European absinthe?). Also hard to find, but I think that’s part of the experience

Drinks were awful. Customer service was subpar… couldn’t get another drink even if I wanted to.

Okay, finally went to the totally, like, hipster place in Greeley and ordered some apps and drinks. It’s a ‘nice’ atmosphere, small and cozy — intimate if you will. But it’s not just ‘all there’. I can’t place my finger on it, but it’s not ‘comfortable’. Everyone’s trying so hard to be hipster and dig the speakeasy that it tends to be more contrived and nervously expectant than fun. The food — well, it comes from Moody’s, which I’ve reviewed before and was unimpressed. It’s not improved when they bring it downstairs — salty and not exciting. Plus, it took almost an **hour** from ordering to receipt of the food, and it was brought out at such vastly different times I was completely through my appetizer before my wife received hers. And that was after I waited quite a while before chowing down(didn’t want to be rude, after all). .and this was just appetizers to go with the drinks. it wasn’t even a full plate or meal. Drinks — Selection is limited, trying to be in the vein of drink styles from the 20’s, in accordance with the speakeasy atmosphere. But they’re not well-made. We’d just wandered over from the bar at the Chophouse where we’d had vodka martinis(dirty) — and the Chophouse is the undisputed winner for making a good drink in this neighborhood. The Speakeasy, not so much: cocktails tasted wishy-washy, more thrown together in a hurry, with sloppy mixes and possibly contaminated shakers with leftover liquor from mixing earlier drinks. It’s rumored the same guy owns the Chophouse, Moody’s and the 1908 Speakeasy. The Chophouse is par excellence, Moody’s and 1908 need a little more finesse to bring them up a notch. I really dislike giving this place two stars, but it just isn’t ‘there’ yet. I’ll be back sometime later this Spring — we’ll see if it picks up a bit or fades away.

First off, I love this place! I come to 1908 about once a week, usually during a weekday to sit at the bar and have witty conversations with the bartender Jordan. It’s usually pretty slow in there at the times in which I frequent the establishment, so it makes for fun and interesting conversations as well as experimenting with different drinks I might not normally drink. The atmosphere is pretty nice, dimly lit Edison style bulbs hanging in an industrial looking light fixture over the bar as well as additional hanging bulbs at the individual tables. Jazz music playing in the background, as well as a nude portrait behind the bar in the style of Francisco Goya by local artist and instructor Dan Augustine. The alcohol selection is smaller but they keep plenty of top shelf options available for the more discerning customer. They have a small selection of Scotches, including The Glenlivet 12yo and The Macallan 18yo. The other selections of spirits are similar there will be a couple of top shelf selections as well as their standard well spirits, which are not exactly bottom tier themselves. The food comes from Moody’s so if you have eaten there, you will undoubtedly be pleased with your selection. The things I really like about the bar is the overall feeling, the music and ambiance, as well as a charming staff, make this place a real winner for me. One thing that I think would make this place 5 stars would be some additional top shelf choices I would like to see Laphroaig Scotch WL Weller 12 bourbon Stranahan’s Colorado whiskey Tito’s handmade vodka Some copper mugs for an occasional Moscow mule would be pretty cool too!

In the basement of the Kress Theater this place took some finding and boy were we happy to discover it. The martinis are fantastic! So worth seeking this place to try one. Can’t wait to go back and try more– friendly staff and service. You really feel like you’re in an old speakeasy. We will be back.

We had great drinks and food at 1908. So glad to have a spot like this here in Greeley.
