This was a strange experience. We arrived and we were the only ones in the restaurant. My husband ordered a margarita that was served in a martini glass. He did like the drink he said it was good. We ordered a couple of tapas from the menu and they were all great. We first had the chicken satay which had the most delightful sauce. This was followed by mini croquettes which reminded me of mini mozzarella sticks. I wish they had more cheese in them but they paired well with the yogurt sauce. Our favorite dish followed which was little crostini’s with avacado and tiger shrimp. The tiger shrimp was cooked to perfection and mouthwatering good. Lastly, we had the paella which I enjoyed but the mussels where not my favorite. The lack of a star is because there was a screaming/crying child almost the whole time in the back room/kitchen which made the vibe in the restaurant a bit tense. I would come back to try more tapas.

I am a huge fan of their sangria, and I often go just to enjoy a couple drinks. I especially enjoy the outdoor seating, which is unusual for the Green Bay area. The restaurant has a cozy and intimate atmosphere which is great for getting together with people when you want to relax and talk. You can get just almonds or olives or other small tapas if you just want to nibble while you enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail, but there are also more substantial options if you want to make a meal of it. I personally like sharing small portions, trying different things, so I enjoy the small plates. Everything I have tried has been delicious, but I think the scallops might be my favorite. I also went to their Steampunk Wine Dinner and really had a great time. I enjoyed the food, the wine, they even had absinthe… and I enjoyed the other guests as well. People went all out with their costumes and really got into the spirit of the thing. Overall, I highly recommend the place, especially the red sangria.

We stopped by to try a couple of plates from the menu and to see if this would be a good restaurant to have my family that will be visiting from out of state to have dinner at. I am so glad we went to try it first because it would be an embarrassment otherwise. The food was just ok, but it was definitely overpriced. The server took forever before we got our drinks and after serving us the food she didn’t come back to check if we need refills or anything, just came around after a while to drop off the bill. We noticed during the farmers’ market how surprised some people looked with how little sangria they get poured(way too much ice and too little wine for the amount charged). We came by a week later to give it another chance and to have some drinks and dessert. When I walked in there was no staff to be seen. I waited for over 5 minutes before someone came out. I had asked to look at a dessert menu and she rattled off the desserts so quickly that I barely understood what was said, so I politely thanked her and walked out the door. I will not be giving this place yet another chance. It’s a shame because the outdoor seating is cute, and a restaurant with this cuisine would be a great addition to the dining options in Green Bay if they actually tasted better, had better service, and slightly lower prices.

What a shame. We tried Café Madrid once in the first week of them being open, and had an overall bad experience. The food and service were both extremely disappointing. We chalked it up to being new, and wrote our evening off as an experiment. It was so bad that I haven’t been back until now. We just wanted a couple of drinks, to sit outside on Broadway, and enjoy the evening. I will say that the space outside is pleasant, but that’s about where it ends. We went in to let the staff know we’d be sitting outside. The restaurant was virtually empty, with only one table of diners. Despite this, it was probably a good 7 – 10 minutes before anyone came out with water and menus(but no drinks menu) and then a further 7 – 10 minutes after we ordered to be given an unopened can of beer and a cup of wine. To cap our evening off, we then had to basically babysit the owner’s young daughter(who is a lovely girl!) for the duration of our drinks, which we finished off pretty hastily. Not once did anyone come out and realize that, while it’s cute, perhaps the customers don’t particularly want to be talked at incessantly about sticks. I think I’m done.

Please do not eat here! I literally would not even feed this food to my dog. We ordered 5 tapas and one seemed to be worse than the next. I truthfully cannot ever recall a worse dining experience. The seafood was rancid, and I am fearful that I may experience severe food poisoning because of this. My boyfriend and I came here with an open mind, and I cannot even fathom how this restaurant is even still open. Please do not ever eat at this restaurant, I would recommend not eating at all, or perhaps visiting a fast food chain. I am literally sickened by the food and the money I spent here. This was the most disturbing restaurant I have ever had the displeasure of dining at.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and we were the only customers. This is a tapas restaurant, so the idea is to share smaller lates of food between the table. That said, between the 2 of us we had steak lavender, spinach artichoke crostini and paella. The fiancé had one beer, he said it was good. The bill was around $ 40. We both enjoyed the atmosphere. The flavor of the lavender steak was very good, but the steak was slightly chewy. The spinach artichoke crostini was my favorite, zero complaints. The paella was okay. I’ve had better, but I’ve also had worse. Overall, maybe slightly overpriced, but not so much that we were upset over it. We would definitely stop in again and try some of the other menu options. The décor was okay, the fresh roses on the table were beautiful, but if there was one suggestion for management, I would take down the prints taped/tacked to the walls. It’s fine to sell art in a restaurant, but the art should be framed while on display.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Everything about this place is terrible from the décor to the poor service to the food that fails to resemble Spanish food in any way, shape or form. The dishes we wanted were«unavailable”-poor planning on the owner’s part. instead we had overcooked and slimy asparagus spears, overpowering lavender steak bites, and paella with paprika instead of saffron, which is arguably the most important ingredient in the dish! Speaking with the owner was as unpleasant as eating the food. Can’t believe they haven’t closed yet! Don’t waste your money– there are MUCH better places to grab a bite in Green Bay.

I went to Café Madrid during a Wednesday evening Farmer’s Market. Their outdoor tables provide a nice spot for enjoying warm weather and people-watching. My companion and I enjoyed 2 glasses of sangria each while sitting and watching the market; we would have had more, had we not struggled to gain our server’s attention. The sangria was decent. The food was not. The menu consists of small plates attempting to imitate Spanish tapas, which are essentially bar snacks. This should be simple, fun, and delicious when executed properly. I ordered some croquettes and mussels. The 6 croquettes I was served were tiny, soggy and flavorless. The mussel dish consisted of like 6 mussels, and I think you could probably get fresher, more flavorful mussels at a Chinese buffet. I’ve been to Madrid and traveled extensively in Europe, but the problem with the food at Café Madrid isn’t about authenticity, it’s just about lousy cooking. I hate to be negative since this is a cuisine the Green Bay area is lacking, but I can’t really imagine a scenario that would cause me to willingly pay for another meal at Café Madrid.

After realizing our favorite café on Broadway was closed, my boyfriend and I stumbled into Café Madrid(because Kavarna was packed). At first appearance, the café seemed quaint and intimate.. . until the manager made no recognition of the patrons and incessantly texted on her phone. It was hard to decide between the tapas or the specials of the day, as both looked appetizing, but we finally settled on ordering the specials, because they were described as more of an «entrée» portion. My boyfriend sipped his ginger beer as we waited for our food to come, and when the avocado shrimp scampi and chicken tetrazzini were brought out, we were hopeful and excited to eat. My chicken tetrazzini was very good; the sauce was rich and creamy with just the right balance of protein and carbohydrates, and the added crustini smothered in cheese on the top was a delicious treat. As for the shrimp dish, the avocado/zucchini pasta was bland and watery – there was no seasoning and the dish severely lacked flavor. Although they were cooked well, the chef skimped on the shrimp, and it was clear that some of the shrimp was not deveined. The biggest surprise to us was that our«specials of the day» were each $ 14, and what we anticipated to be a quick and reasonably priced lunch(like the other restaurants on Broadway) was anything but. One of the redeeming qualities about the café was the wonderfully polite and kind server we had; she was very attentive. We may return for wine and tapas with friends, however, we were disappointed with the overall inconsistency of the two dishes and the outlandish prices of the«specials.»

Never going back! Worst $ 36 ever spent for lunch. Overpriced, not tasty and smelly. When she brought calamari, i had to check my son’s diaper, i thought he pooped, that how bad the smell was!

We stopped here for lunch and were all quite pleased. I’ve never been much for Spanish cuisine but the flavors were fresh and interesting. Everything with goat cheese was especially good. The sauces are the best part of each dish, but the lamb and beef were well cooked and the seafood was fresh. It’s still a very new restaurant, but they’re off to a good start.

This place was bad from the first impression. The décor was cold, dark and not inviting with wall art that was too small for the walls. They were a new place and brought 3 different menu print outs. We had a glass of wine and started studying the menu. The server(cook’s husband) was quite and not good. He had to wake up his wife in back when there were 2 tables. We ordered a couple small plates that sounded interesting. The scallops were cooked well but never seasoned and sat in a thin layer of sauce on the plate. The worst part was the orange bites of something we ordered. They were so incredibly full of strong garlic that wasn’t menu mentioned. We couldn’t eat them. No orange like the menu said just garlic! We told the cook and she said yes they had garlic and so did everything with goat cheese. Strange. We left and walked down to Hinterland to have dinner.

Thought we’d try this new place for dinner Saturday night after reading the GBPG story on it and disappointment doesn’t even begin to cover our experience. To start the menus printed on white copy paper seemed cheap and set the tone for what was to come. The server didn’t even mention the specials and it was only after ordering and receiving our food did we note the chalkboard with other items. The wine list was small but adequate. To summarize the dishes we had and disliked nearly all of them: Bravas — the glaze was more sauce in the middle of the potatoes and all four of us noticed a smoky smell on the potatoes almost like they were stored in a smoky room. Barely ate any of this for a wasted $ 6.95 Lamb Cerezas — the cherry sauce was a nice idea but the lamb picked up virtually no flavor and was very bland. Would not order again. Spanish Meatballs — similar to the lamb, virtually no flavor. Calamari — maybe it was undercooked but was completely soggy and no crunch at all. We literally ate two bites and sent the rest back and wasted another $ 6.95 All of us would not go back again and it’s a shame after getting so excited for a small tapas place in Green Bay.
