St. Brendan’s Inn

You know why this was as good as it gets? Because this is the best value in Green Bay for amazing freshly made quality food. It’s at a great price point, and includes all hand made sauces, great ingredients, no skimping. Tonight I had the best halibut I’ve ever had — so it had to be WELL SOURCED fish — topped with local hen-​of-​the-​woods mushrooms, sauteed w/​a couple nice green cherry tomatoes that added just the right touch of acid to the savory. Cream sauce, mashed potatoes, plated beautifully, garnished with a few nice popcorn-​sprouts! I’m not much on alcohol but the pear cider was very good, and my husband loved the selections. Atmosphere was both beautiful and cozy.

This place is excellent! We stayed 2 nights in a cozy queen suite. The room was clean and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was amazing. I got the lamb. The continental breakfast with omelettes was great too. The location of the hotel was excellent. Lot’s of things to do downtown. We will definitely stay here again. The staff was super friendly.

I stayed in their most affordable room and found it cute and sparse, nice for a weekend getaway. Love the jetted tub, separate walk-​in shower and stained glass window. Not a lot of space for hanging clothes. No minifridge in the room, but the first-​floor restaurant will store your leftovers if you ask nicely. They have live music here some nights – check the schedule online. Bartender was able to explain why they no longer had my favorite hard cider on tap, and offered several acceptable alternatives. Breakfast is included in the room price and they offer a lovely made-​to-​order omelet. This inn is near the Fox River and within walking distance of the Meyer Theatre and various restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Ample parking. Tip: coupons on the hotel webpage are sometimes better than what you will find through various package deal websites.

I received a very apologetic and professional message from the management team. Seems this is not the way they normally do business and I’m sure they’ve resolved the management issues.

I have been here a few times already, and unfortunately it seems like the restaurant gets worse by the year. My family was in from out of state to celebrate a birthday and we decided to come here since they wanted to eat somewhere downtown and by the riverwalk.
The building itself is very nice, inside and out. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the room. Our server was pleasant as well.
Our food was just ok though. We have always ordered the Guinness pot roast as well as the Irish stew, which was our favorite. But it seems like the meat has been tough and just not as tender as it used to be. Also, a couple of us ordered the bread pudding and it was so dry! We were very disappointed to end the meal that way. The drinks at the bar and the beer are very good. I will probably come here again for a drink at the bar, but I doubt we will return again for the food.

One of the last bars in America where a Guinness is still $ 5. Big credit for that! Nice staff, great food, nice, clean bar and restaurant.

One of my favorite restaurants in Green Bay! Service is always exceptional no matter who we get. The food is wonderful and they always accommodate my special requests. The last time we were there (a week ago) when the waitress brought my food out she said the chef saw my request, laughed, and said no problem I had been there before! Yeppers… love this place.

We have been here a half dozen times over the past two years and each visit has been progressively worse. We gave it one more shot this past Tuesday night. We won’t go back.

What a great place! My friends frequent here and I finally tried it out. The restaurant is on the Fox River with a lovely view. The building and décor is charming. The menu is simple and the drink menu is huge… very authentic Irish lol! We did the beer sampler and I would recommend it. It’s a metal candelabra like arch that holds four 5 oz glasses of beer that you pick out. Our food was really good. My Reuben sandwich had real roast corn beef on it — not the shaved lunch meat stuff. My partner had the Irish pot roast and it was tender delish. Portions were good size and prices were reasonable. We are definitely coming back.

OK, so the food is amazing butt the service stinka. By this I mean… I asked for dinner rolks with our $ 17.95 entrée and was told that they no longer offer them with dinner, but I could purchase them as an appetizer. WTF? Give me a roll for Pete’s sake. As a wait server could you see that a patron wanted a .25 stinking roll? 2 stars and a lousy tip. There you go. All for some bread. Finally, we’re here on a Sunday night with 2, count em 2 tables to serve and I’ve been waiting 10 minutes for our server to take my credit card off the table. There are 2 bartenders staffed with one working and the other drinking with a very loud female. It’s all going to my Wisconsin Foodie blog. Bottom line. Great food, sub par service, and that is managements fault.

Let me start by saying I’m a huge fan of this place’s whole vibe. Also, I’m a huge fan of this place’s sister restaurant down in Milwaukee, County Clare. All that being said, this place, as closely as it tries to do what County Clare does, it just pales in comparison.
The service is generally very slow and I have been shuffled to the bar to wait for a table several times while there was a half-​empty dining room. Tables stay uncleared for a long time, and it always seems like they’re understaffed.
On the bright side, the food is always good, especially the fish fry. Wish they had more vegetarian options, but I guess that’s something I hope for in every Green Bay area restaurant.
Major bonus: their bloody mary is spectacular and don’t forget to order the brown bread and butter side.

We wound up here after a close-​by restaurant inexplicably failed to offer up a dessert menu. If we’d known how good this place was, we’d have our entire meal here. Nice hot apple pie for moi, and with an Irish Coffee — Sweet! Sweet! Sweet! And not too expensive either. Indoors for the cold weather, outdoors for a hot summer night. Fellow diners seemed cherub-​like enough. Conveniently located for a stroll along the Fox River.

This review is for the Inn. We stayed in one of the suites, and found the room to be very comfortable, and clean. The large, jetted bath was wonderful after a long day at the AirVenture in Oshkosh! The only thing I’d like, is if they offered rooms with a king size bed. Everyone was very friendly and anxious to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Will return next year!

The food was awesome and the beer menu is fantastic. I had the lamb in what was like a stew of vegetables. The appetizers were also great we had the smothered potatoes and brie cheese. The waiter recommended a beer thats not on the menu because of the name but it was really good. The only reason they didn’t get a fifth star is die to the extremely long wait for the food. Which I am sure was just situational. I guess they had a big party come in and was slowing everything down. But the food was really good and the service was great, just a little slow.

The root soup and vegetarian mushroom rueben was very good. Service is also very good!

I took my wife here for her birthday. This place is what I think of a men’s pub in Ireland. This place also was running a special and we took advantage for this and had a great time.
The food at the restaurant was great we ordered burgers. We were unable to finish all of our food because it was so filling. There is a bar/​pub here that was packed when we visited.
The rooms were large, the beds were not all that comfortable. It did feel like I was sleeping on a hard board with a pad on it. There was plenty of decorative pillows to help out with that issue.
It was kind of hard to shower I always wanted to use a rain shower shower head but this felt a little awkward I felt like I was always cold. I didn’t like this shower it made me decide that I would never have one of these in my home. The best part of this was the hot tub.

We decided to randomly drive up to Green Bay on Sunday, and try one of the two places open around 4PM with 4 stars. I was excited to try this Irish spot, as I am half Irish yet never really eat Irish food.
Had I written this review immediately after eating, I would have given this place probably 4 stars. Though it was empty, and the waitress extremely slow (for it being empty), the food itself was of the stick-​to-​your ribs variety, and all pretty tasty.
The house wine was decent, and my husband enjoyed his beer sampler.
I loved the fries with the curry dipping sauce — a total win there.
My root vegetable soup, made of sweet potato, carrots, and leeks, was almost TOO filling. I didn’t taste the leeks at all, and could hardly finish the cup of soup I ordered — it was that heavy! Also, it lacked complexity.
I ordered corned beef and cabbage, which came with a spicy mustard on top that was a bit overwhelming. The corned beef was decent, but by this point I was pretty darn full. Also, this plate of food could feed two to three people, easy!
My husband got the sampler, which came with Shepherds pie, Guinness pork roast, and Irish stew — the latter being his favorite. Each of these had a hefty amount of potatoes with them, and I loved that his side of veggies was clean — free of unnecessary grease and butter.
He enjoyed his food, so as I said, I would have given this place 4 stars…
But then we went home, and his stomach hurt… and it hurt all night and all day the next day, cramping and aching and goodness knows what — despite taking gas pills, pepto, etc.
Something in his dinner did NOT agree with him. and for that reason alone I doubt we will return. Other adventures to pursue, I suppose, culinarily speaking.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Green Bay. Although it is best on a cold day, when a hot stew or shepherd’s pie will cure the common hate of winter, the menu is delicious all year round.
I wish there were more vegetarian options. I often get the root soup and a salad. It is so freaking good. The bloody mary’s are also one of my favs.
The service can be a tad bit slow, especially from the bar.

Update! I do like this place but what happened last week just blew me away!
I have friends that visit from out of town and we usually make a trip to St. Brendan’s because we are all «irish» and we like the décor, menu and drinks. It was a Saturday Night around 7pm and we walked in with a group of 5. We were told it would be about an hour wait, yet the place was about half full?
When asked why the wait, we were told they only have one table that seats more than 4 and it was just seated. Also, pushing tables together or adding a chair to a current table was against restaurant policy.
First of all… Dumb policy! Second, we left and went somewhere else and spent a couple hundred dollars. Third, they lost future business.
I believe that if the place was a little busier we would have gladly had a few drinks at the bar. With tables open, I just kind of pissed us off!
