Trying to find something available off of hotel row and stumbled onto this place. Lots of room, great food, and friendly staff. Portions are massive and well priced.

Yum! I came for dinner with my family on a Friday night. Fun, laid back atmosphere. The waiter was funny and helpful navigating the menu and wine list for us non Portuguese folks. I had the park and clams, delicious!

My husband and I are from Fall River, MA/East Providence, RI, so we are very familiar with good Portuguese restaurants(and more than a few bad ones). I had never eaten at a Portuguese restaurant so far from home(other than in Portugal), so I was a little wary. Service — It was a week night and the restaurant was fairly empty, so I cannot vouch for service at a busy time. We were approached quickly and our server gave us menus* and took our drink order. He returned with drinks and papo secos, as well as olives(awesome!) and took our order. Our meals took a little time to get to us, but not anything crazy. Enough time for me to feel confident that they were actually preparing our food and not just reheating. We were checked on a decent amount of times while we ate and dessert and coffee were offered and delivered promptly after we were done with our meals. Food — Well, my mother-in-law said that it’s not easy to find papo secos in Florida, so right there, we were pleased. My in-laws both got steaks, which were a great size, cooked perfectly, and had the perfect amount of molho. The potatoes were like fried chips and they both liked them. I had the bacalhau à braz and it was awesome! It’s my favorite dish and I order it whenever available, so I’ve seen my fair share of the good, the bad, and the ugly. This one was fantastic. But the real WOW meal was the sardinhas my husband got. Words could not do this platter justice, so check out the picture. Setting — this is where a star gets knocked off. First the cons: as soon as we walked in, I noticed the lobby spelled strange. I later learned that some overwhelmingly strong cleaning product or air freshener in the restrooms was the cause. I didn’t smell it in the restaurant, though. Also, the restaurant was a bit dark and a little outdated, but(and now for the pros) it was large and clean. There are also large televisions throughout and I understand this is a good place for grabbing a Sagres and watching some futbol. Since I know this restaurant isn’t supposed to be fancy-schmancy, but just a great place to eat amazing Portuguese food and catch a game, I would highly recommend it! *It should be noted that the menus are in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The explanations were also pretty detailed. I thought that was important because, while we knew what just about everything was, there was a table near us with non-Portuguese people and they were reading things out to each other trying to figure it all out. The server was also super helpful to them, by the way.

We stopped in to try it for a Saturday late-lunch/early-dinner. We had Caldo Verde(the national dish of Portugal), Bacalhau à Gomes de Sá(salt cod with potatoes, onions, hard-boiled eggs and olives), and Frango à Piri-piri do Churrasco(spicy grilled chicken, served with black beans and rice). All washed down with some refreshingly chilled Vinho Verde. Very well done, all around.

2nd time I come to this place and I just have to say that I am pleased with the food and the service. We ordered pork ribs and bbq chicken and it was delicious. The place is also good for families and large parties. Definitely will return.

After hearing about this restaurant from family members, my husband and I finally went. We were joined by 6 of our friends. We made reservations and were immediately seated. Although it took a while to get waited on(maybe about 15 – 20 minutes), once the food started, it was never ending. There was also a party of 40 in another room so they were quite busy. We started off with clams with onion and peppers and chourico flambé. Lots of bread and olives. Kale soup was different than I was used to but delicious. All of the entres were plentiful and filled with flavor. Very traditional and authentic Portuguese cuisine. Dessert was scrumptious: rice pudding, flan and pastiel de nata(sp)!! Very friendly and informative wait staff with an excellent wine list. All I can say is «what took me so long?» Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent food all around! It’s a great authentic family owned establishment that I would recommend to anyone. If your a soccer(football) fan of Portugal it’s a great place to watch the game. The family platter was excellent! The sausage was home made and perfect. The beer was from Portugal and chilled to perfect icy crisp. Give this place a shot and you won’t be disappointed.

I have been here serveral times with family and friends always have had a great meal. Im originally from Massachusetts and know the cuisine well. I also went to there prior location and i like this one better. The place can get busy and fills up fast with local Portuguese so you know it has to be authentic. Kid friendly. Try anything from the charcoal grill chicken or ribs… or be daring and try the cod fish bacalhau.

After coming to this restaurant 3 times we are very disappointed. The first time was very good. The 2nd time was a disaster. The 3rd was worse. We brought 10 people. We waited hours for our food(and service). The children were falling asleep at the table. The food was not fresh. Terrible service. When I brought it to the owners attention he said«if you don’t like it, don’t ‘t come back here. Not going back.
