Have seen Dr. Bernstein three or four times for hormone issues. He felt the need to assign me a psychiatric diagnosis on the appointment paper work after my last appointment, completely inappropriate since I was there for thyroid and testosterone issues. If he was so concerned about my mood he could have explained the link between thyroid and mood, which he didn’t do. When I asked him about what the thyroid does he gave a minimal answer.

Doctor Bernstein is an excellent doctor who is most competent and knowledgeable. His staff is first rate, they treat their patients with understanding and respect. My entire experience at the office was excellent.

I give only 4 stars not because of Dr. Bernstein’s care but because he is great. He was wonderful and reassuring. An MRI discovered a lump on my thyroid and I was a little worried. Dr. Bernstein was very kind. HOWEVER, his receptionist, Becky was AWFUL! She was so militant that I left in tears. Dr. Bernstein wanted me to schedule a needle biopsy before I left so I could schedule a follow up visit. She ordered me out of the office to make my call, then would not help me get to the right dept. I told her dr Bernstein asked me to make the appt in the office. She was still very stiff. I will not return. I am so used to kind and professional medical staff. She was really out of line. She should go to sensitivity training, especially when someone may have cancer!

I adore him! So competent, great bedside manner. I was referred due to these scary tumors in my thyroid. Right there in the office, he offered to do a biopsy and sent it right off to lab, being really reassuring. The results were negative for the Big C! He then puts me on this simple medication to shrink them and they did. His nurse, Michelle, is also an absolute doll and you don’t feel rushed. The Doc speaks Spanish too!

Dr. Bernstein is an absolutely top-​notch endocrinology and metabolism specialist. He’s a widely praised expert in his field; he’s also a caring, down-​to-​earth person. He and his partner, Dr. Linda Gaudiani, do medical research in addition to their private practice so their knowledge of the latest advances in their field is cutting-​edge. Not only that — if you’re interested in cycling he knows all the best places to ride in the bay area.
