Upon first entry it looks like it was recently renovated. Signs said ‘now open’ leading me to believe that it is a new café. The place looked newly remodeled inside. The waitress was accommodating in wiping down a table for me. After sitting down and enquiring about the menu she kept listing off everything they didn’t have. I asked about breakfast and they do serve breakfast all day except Fridays and Sundays. So no gravy. No fish sandwiches. It seemed like they had a skeleton menu. She explained because they just re-opened. It was unclear as to whether or not the owner was the same or not. There was one waitress for the entire restaurant when I made my visit. It was a Thursday at 13h00. I came here via a recommendation from Foursquare. I got the ‘Fried Chicken Salad’. It was iceberg lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, bacon bits, sliced up chicken strips, and croutons. It was definitely filling. I give it a «meh»

new ownership — bobby hamilton jr-trustfund baby. come on man with all of your money could you please do a little more with the décor. first let me say i was very skeptical to even try restaurant since the changes. old trustfund himself was sitting at the«bar» when you walk in and didn’t even smile, say welcome or anything. the waitress/do everything girl was super friendly and courteous. the food was pretty good(which i have to say i was surprised) some of the walls and ceiling had been painted black and half the lights were turned off(with 3 hours left until closing) the previous carpet had been ripped up and the concrete floor painted black(very tacky) the entire atmosphere was just dark and dingy. trustfund baby walked past us twice to talk to people he knew but never asked how the food was or anything. depending on how long this restaurant stays open next time i will order my food to go.

Personally, I’m a big fan of the Highway 41 Café. It’s a typical southern meat and three with small town charm. Some of the previous reviews on here are accurate, but add to the appeal of a locally owned, small town restaurant. If you aren’t a regular, the staff is definitely curious, as a previous poster stated. They aren’t rude, but they aren’t shy to ask questions about why you are in town. The décor looks like they’ve piece mealed furniture from local yard sales, and the tables can be a bit sticky. This, however, doesn’t turn me off. The tables are sticky at just about every meat and three I’ve been to. As far as the food goes, the turkey and dressing is the best I’ve had around town. The burgers would rival any of the local hot spots such as Rotier’s or Brown’s diner. The breakfast is better than any traditional southern breakfast I’ve had in the area. I’d rate their biscuits above Loveless and the Nashville Biscuit House. The home fries are legit. Probably my favorite part is the fresh fried pies that are available at the cash register. Growing up in Alabama, I remember making fried pies with my grandmother as a child. The pies at Hwy 41 remind me so much of my grandmother’s pies. The crust is not too dense or too thick. There is just enough salt in the dough to add complexity to the flavor, and not simply hold the delicious filling. While I don’t visit Robertson County very often, this little greasy spoon has become a must for me anytime I’m in the area.

We were out house hunting and exploring the back roads of Goodlettsville recently and ended up in Greenbrier. We stopped in the Highway 41 Café for lunch. When we walked in the door, a woman was standing behind a counter talking on the phone. She didn’t smile, greet, or gesture towards us or the dining areas. Ok. So we walked through the sad, dingy dining room, and I observed more dirty tables covered in plates full of half-eaten, chewed-up food than there were tables with customers. Is it really that difficult to remove the plates from a table and wipe it down? Apparently it is. So we sat at one of the few tables that wasn’t littered with gnawed-on meat and snot rags. We sat for a couple of minutes, read over the whiteboard menu, and tried not to get our arms stuck to the sticky-as-a-flytrap-table. No one ever came to the table for a drink or food order. And the longer I sat there looking around at the disgusting tables, the smarter it seemed to get up and walk out. No one ever said anything. I would advise others to think twice before stopping here.

My boyfriend and I decided to meet up with his family for lunch on Sunday. Since the majority of his family lives in Greenbrier, they picked a place they love and frequent often. You can tell this is a local spot when you first walk in. The sight of someone unfamiliar causes quite the head turning. Not an unfriendly welcome by any means, they were just curious. The people who run the place were actually a really sweet down home Southern family. The menu is a mix of Meat and Three meets burger joint. On any given day you can get turkey and dressing, burger and onions rings, liver and onions, breakfast foods, ect. Being raised on Southern food AND being a burger lovin’ kinda gal, I went with a cheese burger and mashed potatoes. The best of both worlds! First off, the portions are huge! The cheese burger required both hands and was pretty delicious… as far as standard cheese burgers go. The mashed potatoes lacked salt, but all around they were very fluffy and creamy. I was pretty satisfied with my selection. As for ambiance and décor… that just isn’t really the focus of this place. You are there for the food, familiarity and the friendliness not some swanky lighting and abstract wall art. I have to say, for going into a restaurant blind of what culinary endeavors await me… I really enjoyed this little café.
