What a great place to visit. Great for all kinds of needs. Fertilizer, bird seed, farm needs, small grocery store. Good deli counter with premade foods and made to order sandwiches. Very nice local staff.

Rhode Island’s only real general store I tend to doubt that this is Rhode Island’s only«real» general store but that’s what their sign says. I guess it all depends of your definition of what a real general store is. Even if the Summit isn’t the only general store there is no doubt that it is a «real» general store. Not a convenience store or a grocery store, this is an old fashion type general store. You get the feeling the building has been here in various forms forever and that it has always smelled and functioned pretty much the same way as it does today. It does have a pretty good deli where you can get nice sandwiches or coffee and displays with tons of the usual junk food. Other areas have bread, milk and the typical items you would find in a convenience store. Practical and right to the point. What makes Summit a bit different is that you can not only feed your belly but also your horse, cow or goat. A whole section is dedicated to farm necessaries. Feed, grains, seeds, and a bewildering bunch of farmer type implements. The whole store has a kind of pleasant hay type smell to it that gives a nice bucolic atmosphere. A friend of mine always starts humming the Dueling Banjo song from the movie Deliverance when we go here but the store is nothing like that. The Summit is not easy to find, it’s located on a small road leading to nowhere. It’s definitely not a tourist place and serves the local farmers and country folk. The people working here are always country nice and we go because it’s close to the Trestle mountain bike trail. Perhaps not the only«real» general store left in Rhode Island but make no mistake about it, this place is about as real as it gets. Rhode Island’s only real general store
