I have loved this place since it opened many years ago. I went recently for the first time in a long time and not much has changed. The counter staff, especially Emily, could not have been more accommodating, they were friendly and prompt. The food was great and the portions can easily be made into two meals. My friend and I went on a Saturday night, arriving at 8 pm. We ordered food and drinks and ate at one of the tables. We finished eating, packed up the rest, and decided to order one more drink at 8:45, which there was no hesitation in serving. We sat talking and drinking, knowing that they stopped serving at 9. Since these were mixed drinks, we didn’t want to gulp them down, but we were sipping at a steady pace. At 9:15, a man who appeared to be sitting at the bar as a customer when we arrived walked over to our table. After asking how we were doing, said he had to clean the room. We quickly finished our drinks and left. I have worked in restaurants for many years and would have never approached a customer like that, especially on a Saturday night, 15 minutes after the posted closing time. Disappointing. It seems the city wants city traffic & status only when convenient for the employees. Everything else was excellent.

Could be cleaner. Tables are always covered with the remains of somebody’s else’s food. Not true Mexican. Ask Rick Bayless.

Favorite Mexican restaurant in the Valley! I’m a vegetarian and I LOVE their kale and sweet potato burrito — And they are super accommodating so they don’t care that I get it in a bowl with extra guac! YUM! My husband is NOT a vegetarian and he loves it too! We travel up from Hadley just to eat here! Fun atmosphere and great prices for great food that is cooked with some love!

I have to start by saying I am a fan of Mesa Verde, when I am in the Greenfield area, I will stop in for lunch and take it to go. I did that today and for the first time I was disappointed in what I received. I ordered the Blackened Chicken Burrito — what I got was a burrito with no cheese, very little pico, overloaded with black beans and the worst part was — the seasoning was just dumped in a pile on the rice/beans, not mixed and the result was a pasty tasting burrito that was overseasoned on half of it and plain on the other. On top of that, the burrito literally, fell apart — I hate to say it but it will be a while before I go back there, this visit left me wondering if things are slipping in the wrong direction for this restaurant(noticed that there are two other Unilocalers who also had rough experiences this month).

Not great. People told me this place was incredible. I guess I just didn’t get it. I can’t say I want to go back.

The mojo pork burrito is just wonderful. The burrito had me eating things I rarely or NEVER eat– rice, beans, tomatoes, and red onions. Their nachos and quesadillas are yummy too. Can’t wait to go back and try a margarita!

Food was very good there and the atmosphere was pretty cool. It looks like it was built into an old church with cool stain glass windows. Staff is bery friendly as well

I’ve been frequenting Mesa Verde for years. For the longest time I refused to order anything but the chicken enchiladas. Their red sauce is very very good and the broiled cheese on top is something I tend to crave. I’ve tried other dishes: plenty of hefty chicken burrito bowls, chipotle soft tacos(messy but wonderful), the Thai burrito, and the mojo pork burrito bowl. Everything was totally enjoyable and priced very well. I must admit though that my old standby is the chicken enchiladas. Lately they haven’t been as consistent as they once were. Sometimes they’re cooked until the cheese is very dark and crispy with minimal sauce and other times the cheese is oozy and saucy.(Actually they once forgot the side of rice and beans and once gave me steak enchiladas instead of chicken) but despite the inconsistencies, I still love Mesa Verde and won’t hold it against them. If you want some cheap, casual, Mexican-American grub with a great menu and good vibes, Mesa Verde is certainly for you.

Mesa Verde has gigantic burritos with wholesome ingredients. Everything is fresh and delicious. In truth they are better than Bueno y Sano but thankfully they are too far apart to compete because that would be forcing me into a truly uncomfortable choice. They are also known for top notch margaritas. They are more than reasonably priced: great for a quick lunch. Lots of options, too. I usually default to blackened chicken burritos, but you can’t go wrong with steak, pulled pork, or tofu either. They also have tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas. All excellent.

What I like is, this not a ‘copycat’ of the franchise burrito places; they go their own way here. On my one visit(so far) I had the jalapeño burrito, and a large side of salsa, no chips. I was intrigued by the notion of building a burrito around grilled jalapeño, and it works(rice and beans delivers the protein.) It is hot, but not crazy hot. Could possibly be better with a tangy component like a hot sauce. The salsa was freshly made, very garlicky, and underscored the chef’s commitment to ‘do it their was.’ I liked it, but I might back off on the garlic a bit.

Arrived at 8:50 last night and the kitchen was already closed. Several groups of people were being turned away. They should consider staying open later on Friday night.

We stopped here while on a trip recently. It’s definitely a unique, offbeat place and I thought reflective of this small town itself. The chips, salsa and guacamole were outstanding. My girls loved their salad bowls and I had a grilled jalapeño burrito with chorizo. First, they use fresh jalapeños and roast them over a fire. The chorizo seemed to be of the Spanish variety rather than the Mexican variety(which is more healthy). On the plus side, food quality was very good, selections were solid. The only thing that made me grimace a bit was the serve yourself community silverware baskets. Too many potentially uncleared hands digging in this bin for my liking.

Mesa’s where I go if I want a totally serviceable burrito served by hip white people with gauged ears. If you come here expecting a Mexican restaurant, you’re likely going to come away a little disappointed. The food is always at least decent.(The Thai tofu burrito is quite good.) But don’t expect it to compare to your local food truck or taqueria. The closest thing to authentic Mexican you’ll find here are the waitstaff’s sugar skull tattoos.

Quite average food, bordering on lousy. Lacking in flavors. Got a vegetable quesadilla, & my friend got their fajitas I think. Soggy, flimsy food. I’ve had much better Mexican food in many other places. Price is not that cheap either, for Mexican food.

The food at Mesa is great, but the owner needs a serious attitude adjustment. On 2 different occasions she has treated me like shit. If you are reading this, try working on your attitude and people might come back.

This is an interesting place to eat. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can not eat beans and the staff has been able to help me select options to avoid them on protect my health. I would make sure you put money in for your parking or you will get ticketed.

It has been a while since I have revisited Mesa, but at one point it was a(bi)weekly staple for my friends and I for dinner. My top 2 choices are — Sweet Potato and Kale Burrito — the way the cheese tangs against the sweet, earthy goodness of the SP was enough to make me want to sell my soul the first time I had it — Catfish Tacos — super super super good, although once I made a horrendous mistake and tried to add their special catfish to the sweet potato and kale burrito. Cheese and catfish are really awful together. But the tacos are perfect. They come with sauteed red onions which look beautiful. They also have amazing margaritas and local beer, and there is almost always seating.

Ok, so now that I have had more experience with this place: I still love the food. Things that made it lose a star– I have been here more than once where the seating was full.(Small place, not really their fault.) Regardless a star is lost because I cannot always sit down there if I want to. Lastly– I loved their fresh squeezed(with lime) margaritas. Last time I was there… It was the worst margarita I have had. They are now using mixers. There is no way in hell that was fresh squeezed. I make them at home so I am a bit experienced. You could taste the sugary syrup and it was bright green. I vote this as best Mexican Take Out in Greenfield.

We recently popped into Mesa Verde for a quick dinner and have to say that the food was pretty good. We got an order of chips and salsa which were great. The salsa is made fresh and it is really«garlicy». For our main course we bought some chicken quesadillas and a burrito which were great. All the food was fresh but the only critique was that the burrito was small for the price we paid. The issue that we had at the restaurant was that the wait staff was a bit«unique». They were having an argument amongst themselves over politics and didn’t stop to serve us. When they finished their conversation they were polite but it took a while. Overall, the food is pretty good and the space is great. The staff is funny and it is definitely an experience when you come to this store.
