I went to the house. Drew a pentagram and summoned the ghost of mr Riley. Im an aspiring children’s novelist and was hoping he could help me quit aspiring and start writing. My idea«little orphant Abernathy worthington the 3» about a lovable orphan from the hamptons who screwed around in prep school but still gets into Yale because his dad’s plays golf with the chancellor didn’t take off. Now I’m stuck with this ghost who continually speaks in his Hoosier dialect and talks about the old swimming hole all night. I haven’t slept in months. Maybe if I go to his grave in Indianapolis it will put it to rest. See next review…

Unfortunately, I went when the home was closed(though it was preparing for a Christmas event). Alas, I’m not close enough to Indiana to have better timing so I took what I could get. Having not stepped foot into the house, here’s what I liked about it: poetry. As we wandered around the exterior of the property, through the garden and under the rose trellis, we were treated with poetry excerpts on signs and boards at every step. Clearly, this is a home that has embraced its literary heritage. My guess(hope?) is that they are trying to make poetry more accessible to and liked by children — something I think Riley himself would have approved of.
