Target

I refuse to go to this store. If I need to go to a Target (which I usually don’t), I go to another location. No one wanted it built here over wetlands – not even the people who lived in the town. I drive that road every day and was amazed and saddened at how much wildlife was killed or displaced during the process. No sir – I won’t step foot in any of the stores located in that mall. Greedy developer – even spent (along with the stores) thousands of dollars taking it to court. So maybe that is why people have such a problem with it. We need to preserve what little is left of our wetlands not build more Lowe’s or Targets. Plenty of empty buildings they could have utilized when this was being planned. Big business at work selling crap from overseas and destroying the Seacoast’s resources.

I have never successfully gone through this store’s check out without a major delay. Poorly organized and staffed much of the time. Products themselves are decent.

WTH is wrong with people reviews here? Seriously getting that emo over Target colors or lack of CSR??? Hahahahahaga my lord
This place rocks… the people are super friendly… what the hell do you want them to do? Wipe your arse?

This store is filthy and messy, and it’s nearly impossible to find anyone when you need help. When you do find help, they are rude and generally unable to be useful anyway.

Lackluster.
I usually love Target. But this location just doesn’t have the same zing that I get from most of the Targets I’ve ever been in. To me, Target is usually lively, fun and modern feeling. This Target seems sad for some reason. I find the store to be somewhat disorderly and messy with apathetic to borderline rude customer service. Like I said I am a big fan of Target but I find myself not very excited to go here. I haven’t been going as frequently as I am known to and I was even beginning to question my devotion to Target. After visiting the Somersworth and South Portland locations, I now see it had nothing to do with my fave big box retailer, it was just this location.
If you live in the seacoast, just go to Somersworth.

Terrible place. Not only do I hate being in big chain stores, but the color scheme in Target really «angers up the blood», and the lights (eventually) make one dizzy.
However, my latest issue with this place is their lack of customer care. They have an (over the ear) earphone display, with music playing, and four pair of earphones set up to try out. As someone who suffers from tinnitus, as a result of loud concerts past, I am always careful about volume levels. Before I picked up one of the earphones, I held them near my ear and listened– hearing them playing at a very low level, I put them on. They were almost at their lowest setting, so I then pushed the «volume up» button one time. At which point, the volume went to full blast– far, far beyond the pain threshold. Fine, it’s broken. It happens. My ears will ring for several days, but, really, no hard feelings (much).
It was when I told a manager, who sent an employee over, who then told me, «Someone will take a look tomorrow», that I knew they didn’t give a damn about what is, essentially, a safety issue. Not exactly great customer relations and messaging. Nor is making us wait 5 minutes for an employee with a key to buy a pair of $ 5 earbuds. I doubt I’ll shop here again.

When it opened it was great. Now not so much. The shelves are hardly stocked. There are isually 3 lanes open, and the teen cashiers are lacking any personality or courtesy. I am, however, at the point where I imagine teenagers working at these places, bursting into flames.

ABSOLUTELY the worst customer service, ever! My boyfriend was looking at sweatshirts in the men’s department while a manager was about 15 feet away hanging up clothing. At one point, he draped one of the sweatshirts over the rack to look at a different size and compare the two. The manager, Deb, walks over and asks him if he is done with the first sweatshirt. He said he was deciding between the two, at which she replied, «Well we don’t like to drape things over the racks here.»
He then leaves the men’s department and we meet up, then go back to the men’s department to pick out a sweatshirt. Deb is still there, hovering, while he and I pick our a color. As he is trying to put one back on the hanger, he turns to her and says he can’t find one. She nastily replies that it’s on the floor. The rack he got the sweatshirt from was over filled and he has a hard time putting it back. She then stomps over and says, «Do you need me to take care of that for you?» My boyfriend is upset with her tone and tells her that he is just trying to purchase goods from a store… which surprisingly enough… sells goods. He decides not to get a sweatshirt based on her behavior and we move to another section of the store.
We are in the health and beauty area and half way down the store I can hear Deb the manager talking loudly to another employee about my boyfriend and the interaction that just occurred. We stand clearly in the main aisle so she can see us and I loudly say, «I believe she’s talking about you» and look directly at her.
As we are checking out, we ask the cashier who the managers are. Deb walks by at that time and we ask if she is one of them. The girl says she «thinks» so and isn’t too sure of her name. We ask again if there is anyone besides Deb that we can speak to and the girl doesn’t even answer us.
We contacted Target to let them know about this ordeal and the only reply was that they apologize for this as this is not how a manager at Target should behave.
BEWARE of Deb!!! She’s a nasty, nasty person who obviously encourages the same in her employees. WORST shopping experience at Target. and I kind of heart Target.

I admit it, I tend toward the small businesses and unique shops in the area, but I will still take a pilgrimage every few weeks to Target. And, it’s much easier now that there’s a new one so close to Portsmouth (in fact, I thought it was in Portsmouth til I looked up its address).
This is the first ever Target with a fresh foods section, so you can do all of your grocery shopping if you so choose. the prices on groceries were excellent. The selection tends toward the more mainstream. The coolest feature isn’t the food itself, but the fridge/​freezer section with its motion-​sensor lights (which I’ll assume are more energy efficient than leaving lights on all the time).
It’s clean and bright and shiny and new. It has Starbucks and a little bit of everything else, and it’s nice to have it close to home, but still far enough removed to not take away from the charm of the smaller businesses in Portsmouth proper.
