Amazing food, with a romantic feel. Summer time they have a great porch and Winter time they have many fireplaces in the old historic home to make you feel cozy. The chef or owner always stops by your table to see if your dinning was up to satisfaction.

Always a pleasure. 5 years ago we had our first date, we’ve celebrated anniversaries, birthdays, and our own engagement in this lovely setting. Thank you for all that you do to make us feel like this is home.

Pat and I came here to celebrate a winter birthday. The venue is a converted house, nicely redone into a suite of smallish rooms. Initially I took the menu for nothing special because many of the items are common in this area — shrimp & grits, calamari, rib-eye steak, etc. However, M&J takes these and ratchets them up to memorable. Pat’s popular catfish proved a generous portion, lightly cooked, and perfectly complemented by her mashed potatoes. My quail(!) consisting of(3) breasts served over an ample bed of cheese grits, simply excelled. I took the leftovers home. Both included sides of the best collards we’ve ever had. Prices are moderate and probably fair. The wine list tended to the pricey side — I’d prefer more less-expensive choices. My only complaint was the atmosphere. The pale yellow dining room was illuminated with ceiling lights which left the tables gloomy. Tables need light, folks! The low candles didn’t help. The floor was boarding-house bare. I’d put small lamps on all the side tables and ceiling spotlights on the middle tables. I’d lay down a warm area rug and add a ficus or two in the corners. The result would give it a soft jewel-like warmth. I have no sympathy for those who rate a restaurant only by its steaks. Expect an excellent and creative dining experience. Don’t expect glamour. You won’t be disappointed.

We had a group dinner. I had the goat cheese apple salad with chicken added! It was delicious! I had the butternut squash risotto which I swear was the best thing ever!!! My husband had the bistro strip with truffle fries and green beans! It was cooked perfectly and was tender and the sauce was so flavorful! We didn’t have dessert but I’m sure it would have been great!

Wow! That was a great eating experience. The venue is a converted old brick house(I drove by it the first time and missed it completely!). The food was fantastic. I had clam chowder followed by fillet medallions(cooked perfectly) and sautéed spinach and mushrooms and mashed potatoes. If I think I would have gotten away with it I would have kicked the plate clean. I only wish I had had room for desert. I can only imagine how good it would have been. Oh well, next time ;-)

Wish I could go higher, but after a couple of visits I just can’t bring myself to bump up the score. So much obvious effort and some skills. However, pretty much everything comes up just short. You can see the destination they’re trying to reach, but the train never makes it into the station. And at these prices that’s a shame.

Came here with my parents for an evening dinner, could not have been more pleased. Everything from the service to the ambience to the food was perfect. We ordered fried green tomatoes and the charcuterie plate for appetizer both were amazing. My dad had the surf and turf I had the fillet mignon they were cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had to see scallops they were great as well. I will definitely be coming back here.

Worst food ever. Came home having a tummy upset after. Waiter ended up charging me for someone’s order until I confronted him about it and his excuse was since I told him I was in a rush he wanted to get me out of there early. Poor service and bad food, the waiter suggested the chicken sandwich so I tried it and it smelled like it had gone bad and was being sold, I didn’t really pay attention until I started having a tummy upset! Won’t recommend to anyone. Pricey as well for just a sandwich.

Delicious steak and seafood spot in Greensboro. Dined here for dinner while in the area for work. It’s a cute little cottage with homey interior design that makes you feel like you’re having a nice dinner at home. I ordered the charcuterie plate for appetizer. I would have enjoyed it if there were more meat and less fillers and cheese but it was still good nonetheless. Ordered the scallops for entrée which were delicious and the portion was filling. The large chunks of lobster in the mash potatoes were delicious and I was glad they didn’t skimp. The scallops were pan seared to perfection. Great service as well.

A hidden gem here! It always pops up when I search nearby places. So I finally made the trip. The place is a small quaint house turned dining room. They offer alfresco seating if desired. The décor matches a locally sourced, down home theme. The food here is on point; the crab cakes had plenty of crab and not all filler; the salmon was Wow; and the scallops were the best I have had in a while. the side dishes on the table included lobster mashed potatoes, asparagus, potato cake, to name a few. they were all tasty and well prepared The banana pudding was not feeling home made to me, but that’s okay. Lefty was still impressed by my awesome choice in restaurants. :0) The menu reads very well. I think I will try the steak on the next visit. When I said small and quaint that’s not an exaggeration. If you are looking for an intimate spot, here you go!

Visited for dinner last night and was pleased both with the quality of food and level of service. Nice selection on the menu and ended up ordering the calamari to start and the flat iron steak and duck for our entrees. The calamari was delicious, perfectly seasoned and lightly fried. The dipping sauce was nicely complimentary and my companion really enjoyed the fried jalapeño that was served with it. Duck was actually a special for the evening, so we chose to take advantage! It was perfectly cooked and worked well with the fig reduction. I ordered my steak medium rare and it came out closer to the rare end of the spectrum, but was still quite tasty. The wine reduction and mushroom sauce was flavorful and enjoyable with the steak. The truffle fries were nicely crispy and delicious. The biggest bummer is the limited parking — at such an establishment, it’s disappointing to be often forced to park across the street. We look forward to our next visit!

Very limited parking… Very limited seating. Descent atmosphere with a respectable food experience. Don’t go out of your way, but if you’re in the neighborhood.

I had been begging my husband to take me here for lunch, and finally he consented on one condition– because we had an Attractions coupon. I ordered the scallop lunch with risotto. The scallops were cooked so perfectly that they about melted in my mouth. The risotto was also very good. While I enjoyed the meal, I ate the entire dish with no problem, and I’m not a big eater. I definitely could have eaten another scallop… or five. We probably won’t go back, not because we didn’t enjoy the meal, but just because for the cost of the meal, I would expect more the money.

I really liked this place, it was just a few little things that are keeping me from giving it 5 stars. First the good: * Adorable little pink house with a nicely sized front and back porch. There is a small bar area to the left as you walk in the front door, and then several separate rooms containing a few tables per room. Very intimate, cozy, and quiet. * Decent wine list offering a suitable number of wines by the glass and many more by the bottle. There is also a cocktail menu offering interesting creations beyond just the basic«gin and tonic»(though, you can, of course, get the tried and true if you so wish). * A limited menu, but that works in the restaurant’s favor since they can excel at what they offer rather than scramble to make 30 different dishes. There are 8 appetizers on the menu with something to suit everyone’s tastes. The menu itself is divided into seafood entrees and steak entrees, with a small number of selections in each category. Everything sounds delicious. They also offer daily specials. * The food was delicious! We had a party of four, and we shared the charcuterie plate appetizer and the complementary bread(comes with dried herbs in a little silver cup so you can mix with olive oil which is at the table). My husband had the iceberg wedge salad(he arrived late and we had already made good progress on the charcuterie plate). We evenly divided on the steak and seafood, with the men choosing steaks and the ladies going with fish. I had one of the daily specials, and drat, I forget what type of fish, but it was delicious with a side of lobster mashed potatoes, a crab hollandaise sauce and a side of asparagus. Just really good food. We were all too full for dessert. Now for the less good(but still not bad): * This adorable pink house is in kind of a weird location. I just didn’t like the part of town. * The air conditioner didn’t work very well. We were overly warm bordering on hot for the duration of our stay. No one likes to be sweaty while eating unless you are at an outside barbecue. * The waiters were friendly but just a bit overly casual. In an upscale restaurant, I guess I just expect a more reserved(not aloof, mind you) level of decorum. Also, we arrived a little before our reservation time, but it appeared we wandered into a staff meeting at the bar. We thought about sitting at the bar and having a drink while we waited for my husband to arrive, but the staff didn’t seem remarkably interested in vacating the bar area. So, we just went ahead and asked for a table.

I really enjoyed MJ’s. They serve American fusion cuisine. From the start the cocktails are amazing and have great presentation. Started of with a blackberry mojito and a lime martini. Everything on the menu sounded amazing. It was so hard to choose. I settled on the ribeye and fries. I also got a side of pimento mack and cheese. My lady decided to get the fried green tomatoes and flash fried oysters. Everything was amazingly cooked and delicious beyond expectation. The service was excellent and we were never left wanting. This place is a must try!

MJ’s Steak and Seafood is a real gem. Located in an older house in Guilford College, the dinning areas are divided and rather small creating an intimate setting. The food is excellent, with terrific steaks and seafood. In my opinion, they really excel at seafood dishes on par with 1618. I’m a shrimp and grits fan and MJ’s shrimp and grits can hold their own with the best Charleston has to offer. The service is very friendly and knowledgeable. The myriad of seating areas facilitates intimate evenings or semi-private areas for groups. They have a very small bar and feature live music on many weekend nights. A great choice for an evening with special friends.

We’ve eaten here several times over the last few weeks, including last night, and we come away each time a little more impresssed with both the food and the service. The menu here is relatively compact, mostly steak, fish, and bird, with a daily Chef’s special or two — all the dishes are excellent. It is family owned and operated, and these are good folks — Tad is the Chef, Mindy handles the floor. We like to eat in the bar — it is small, maybe 8 to 10 stools, no tables — it is warm, inviting. Ben is in charge of the drinks, and you get a really nice pour in your cocktail here. They have some drink specials from time to time, 30% off bottles of wine on Monday, discounts of wine by the glass on Wednesday, iirc. Nice varied wine list, decent prices. The Tuna Tartare and Smoked Salmon appetizer is excellent, and very well sized for sharing — goes for $ 13. The Foie Gras is nice, as well — cost is $ 14. The Duck Two Way entrée is excellent — duck confit & duck breast with sweet potatoes and baby spinach for $ 25. The Buttermilk Fried Catfish is outstanding and a nice portion — with mashed potatoes, cranberry cole slaw, and house made tarter sauce for $ 16. The Center Cut NY Strip is an excellent choice — with carmalized onion blue cheese potato gratin(as good a side of potatoes as you will find) & asparagus for $ 30. This is a very, very good contemporary american menu — the items are fresh, well prepared and plated, with outstanding service, good value, and nice ambience. A lot to like and enjoy here.
