A fun place to poke around with a friend — but don’t go there looking for a particular something, just go with an idea and see what presents itself. I appreciate that they stage vignettes, assembled rooms of a sofa, some chairs and lamps, and art on the walls. It’s better than the thrift store bent towards a row of indistinguishable overstuffed chairs. You never know when you’ll walk around the corner and see a treasure freshly claimed from Versailles.(As my friend put it, «I love it! And it comes in gold!») Or what you think might be a longish sewing machine table turns out to have a turntable tucked within. Also, ceramic asparagus everywhere.

FURIOUS! Rude and steal YOUR money! I was never explained anything when I dropped my 2 couches off at the Holden Road store. The woman was so rude, she kept telling me over and over again that my items were approved at the other store. I asked if I should just take them to the other store because she acted as if I was such an inconvenience to her. I should have followed my first instinct and put everything back in the truck and left! I recently called to check on my items on the advise of my friend. I was under the impression(since I was so rudely rushed out and not explained the process when my items were first dropped off) that after 4 – 6 months they kept my items, which is fine. But when I called I was made aware that my items sold months earlier but no one contacted me to let me know. So, since it was 2 weeks past the 6 month period that they HOLD your money they would not reissue me a check for my furniture!!! How is this good business practice? They take your address and phone number but cannot mail you the check or call you?!? Do they want every consigner calling everyday? What’s the point in even taking your address and phone number. NEVERSHOPORCONSIGNHERE! Angry beyond words.

Consigned 2MINT condition Thomasville items. When I went into the store these items were randomly thrown in the back where no one would even be able to see them and they were not placed together even though they were matching pieces. Items never sold and then I was told they were donated. Previously I was told that large items like mine were never donated. I really don’t know what happened to these items but I will never consign or shop there again.

Prices are pretty good — you can find hidden items buried in the back. Don’t expect anything to be clean. The guy who delivered our couch and easy chair was the coolest person I had met since moving here. He was like a mythical being of awesomeness and laid backitude. Unfortunately my most recent visit was so deeply marred by my interaction with the woman at the front desk that I don’t think I will be returning. I was treated rudely in a way that felt personal, as she did not seem to treat others as if they were fresh off the street. It was like I reminded her of someone terrible from her past or perhaps she could simply see my inner rottenness and dealt with me accordingly. I suppose there is a cultural illusion/expectation that when there is the possibility of money being spent, a person will be treated with kindness and even hospitality. I guess the truth is there are some people in this world who simply won’t like you. Maybe it’s better to just know and not kid ourselves. Whatever the case, poor customer service can really take the shine off a place like this. I won’t be shopping here again.

The Red Collection is a professionally-run consignment store. We’ve shopped here for quite awhile and just recently consigned our first few items. So far so good — we’ve been impressed by how organized and thorough they are. They seem to know furniture and priced our items close to what we were expecting. To consign, you can email pictures of the items or arrange a time for the owner to make a house visit. They also offer a pick-up service that is reasonably priced.

When faced with downsizing when my parents moved into a retirement home, I turned to the Red collection. They were outstanding to deal with. First of all, they really know their furniture. Secondly, they sold more stuff than I thought we could sell. they went the second mile; for example, wrapping up glassware so I didn’t have to do it. I’ve sold through them a number of times and have been pleased both with the process and the price I received. They are very clear up front with their policies. I’ve never had an issue with them.

I took an Oriental rug for consignment at the beginning of a home renovation. The renovation ran longer than expected and I forgot to check back with the Red Collection. When I went back to inquire about the rug, they told me it had sold but that I was too late to pick up my check because the time had expired. When I explained that it was my money the woman told me that«I would have to walk away from that, sister and that I obviously did not need the money.» Obviously I will not be shopping at Red Collection again and they still have my money.
