Dropped in for the first time last week Friday, the comedy was not the best i have seen, but for $ 5 on a Thursday night, It was a night out. Drinks are decently priced. Not a fan on the green stage. Everyone who got on stage looked like they had on a green attire. One would assume it was St. Patricks day or Earth day. Please work on the lighting on the stage!

I booked tickets online for the 10 pm improv show on a Saturday for my husband’s birthday. We had some drinks at MCoul’s then walked over to the club. It’s a smaller club and was very dark inside so we walked right past it the first time. Once inside we were greeted immediately and taken to the front row. They have a small selection of beer, but whatever, no 2 drink minimum like most clubs was a nice change. I had never been to an improv show so I was nervous about yelling random things out. My husband had a bad experience at an improv show in Chicago so he was leery at first too. Within minutes we were both in tears from laughing. Steve, Bob and Jennie were the idiots of the night. All were great, but Jennie is ridiculously funny! I love a good dirtball kind of comedian and she hit it on the nose. Her Miley and Spice Girls impression had me crying! The DJ played music to compliment each act and made up commericals in between. Absolutey hilarious! The tickets were $ 10 each in advance. Four beers were $ 13 plus tip. Not bad for a fun way to spend a night out! We would like to take our 8 year old to the 8 pm family show, as well as return for the 10 pm with just the 2 of us.

Last night was my first time. I saw the improv show and the things these people can do is next to ridiculous. It reminded me of «Who’s Line» on tv hosted by Drew Carey. If improv is not for you then I would try stand up instead. The place is smaller than the outside depicts. Limited drink selection but cheaper than most bars or clubs. I enjoyed the show however. Julie, one of the idiots, figured out things that I couldn’t believe. I would not have been able to and I even had the cheat sheet. I also realized that Jennie is the same person that did a morning show on WXII. I knew I recognized her face and my research confirmed it. Would recommend this place if you are into improv. But realize it isn’t stand up.

We came in to Greensboro for a wedding and decided to stay an extra couple of days and see the sights. Little did we know, there were not too may sights to be had(especially without access to a car!). Fortunately we happened upon The Idiot Box Comedy Club while walking around downtown Greensboro. We saw a Saturday evening improv show and had a great time. It’s a very small club and we didn’t know what to expect but if you’re a comedy fan you’ll definitely enjoy the show. If you go, be sure to bring some random nouns/verbs/adjectives to help them fill in the blanks as a lot of the show is audience driven and involves your participation.(They even pulled me up on stage at one point to do an improv game with them). Also note that they have two shows, one is clean and the other isn’t. Just due to our timing we went to the earlier show(the clean one). They don’t recommend taking kids to the later one. The Idiot Box was a nice way to top-off the evening after having dinner before heading back to our hotel for the night. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys stage-comedy/general wackiness.
