I take my wife for her birthday every year. We love the Melting Pot. The concept is fun and original. You just don’t find Fondu restaurants. We live the privacy of the tables and the intimacy of the experience. The waiters are no. Intrusive but attentive and the food is good, it has to be, you cook it yourself… My complaint is the price. There is no way dinner like this should cost $ 50 per person. I am willing to pay it once or twice a year for a special occasion but if it were cheaper I would go more often.

Before a few days ago, I had never been to The Melting Pot. I have heard a lot about the place through the years, and decided to try it on a night out with my girlfriend. I have to say that we both enjoyed the experience very much! This definitely is not the cheapest way to eat out. You start the meal with some appetizers that you can dip in a cheese fondue of your choice. Then you chose and entrée and a preparation style, then you cook your entrée for a short time in the fondue that you’ve chosen.(There is also an optional salad in between the appetizer and the entrée that we opted out of.) Finally, to finish it all of, you get an assortment of things to dip in a chocolate fondue of your choosing. I would be more inclined to give this establishment a 3 ½ star rating, for a few different reasons. The parking lot at the place was almost full, but the restaurant was not, which makes parking there a bit of a troublesome experience. For anyone who lives around the area and knows what Battleground Avenue is like, it would definitely be hard to find parking elsewhere as well. The prices are also a little high. Even though the place is a little bit upscale and the food is pretty good, I’m not sure it is worth paying $ 35-$ 40 per person, especially when that’s without a salad. My experience dining at The Melting Pot is one that I enjoyed and I would recommend to others. I look forward to going back there sometime to try another of the many different combinations of food and fondue that you can combine there!

Nothing like a flashback to 1980’s cuisine like fondue! This is an classic date night spot here in Greensboro that everyone must go to once. The food is always fresh and presented nicely, and it is fun to get to cook it yourself. Wide varieties of choices for proteins, broths, salads, and chocolates. My girlfriend got a cupon for some free chocolate covered strawberries and I must say they were the best I have ever had. Downsides, I never really complain about prices, but I feel that this is overpriced. The portion sizes have gotten smaller and the prices are the same, the labor cost can’t be that bad since there is no real cooking required on the kitchens part. If they would have more realistic prices I would have given this resturant 4 stars. Parking can be difficult.

If I could give this place 3 ½ stars, I would. I think the concept and product is pretty delightful, but the actual set up of this location makes it a little difficult. My mom, sister, and two friends decided to make reservations for their«Ladies Night Out» promotion. They did serve $ 3 champagne by the glass, which was lovely. The overall experience was slightly stressful as I felt that we were rushed through. The parking situation is horrendous, and many of us spent an extra 10 minutes trying to find parking in other lots.(They won’t sit your party until you’re all there and accounted for.) We were seated at the table right next to the door and the draft coming through was pretty chilly. Our waitress seemed a little distracted and had a difficult time explaining the process of the«ladies night out» special. Like I said though, the food is delicious and fresh. Our favorites were the Swiss Alpine cheese fondue, their house salad, the seafood trio, and the filet mignon. I also love all of the sauce choices that come with the main course. Because of time, we had to skip dessert, which probably has a lot to do with my opinion of this trip. I think this Melting Pot could do a lot better in the service area and have a little better organization. When you’re charging your customers approximately $ 50/person, you should have superb customer service.

The server zahara came by and said«a lot of people bring their mistresses here» to me while I was having dinner with a male friend. I was pretty upset and the manager happened to walk by and ask how everything was going. I told him what the server said to me and they paid for our dinner and gave us a $ 100 gift card.

Maegan was an excellent waitress. She was very knowledgeable of the menu. My wife has a gluten allergy and I have a mushroom allergy. Both were taken care of without needing to explain. I would love to have her as my server again. The food was presented and explained very clear and concise.

I read every review, and asked questions of everyone I could find that had been to «The Melting Pot». In short, I got alot of different answers. For starters, we got a reservation about two weeks in advance. The Staff were very helpful and went far to explain the options available in the menu. Many times I might add. Even so, it’s a learning event. Expect this, and either way you will get a good meal. If I went back, I’m sure I would order some things differently. But, I was impressed and maybe once a year I will return. More experienced for sure. By the way, I was with my Wife and three others and all enjoyed the meal. Most people will spend $ 50.00 each for this meal. Plus a tip. The Service is Top Notch. My only grievous is being seated in the back of the building in a corner, which did little to help my claustrophobia. They need more windows and tables. I dislike Booths…

My wife wanted to go to the Melting Pot for her birthday. Our server was really nice and the Wisconsin Trio cheese fondue was great. I had a wedge salad and my wife had the California salad, both were good. We also had the amaretto white chocolate for dessert and it is not to be missed. The only complaint I would have was that we decided not to have the«main course» fondue and even the manager came by to try and sell us on it. Some people just don’t like boiled meat. Overall, if you are not the type of person that succomes to server pressure, this was a good experience.

I’ve been to the Melting Pot a few times with my wife and we love it. You know going in it’s overpriced, you’re paying for the service, the experience and the ambiance. I took my wife recently to the Melting Pot as a ‘just cause’ occasion and our server Josh, was top-notch. We each had 4 courses, my wife had the Good Earth Vegetarian, which had plenty of tofu and vegetables to please her tastes, and I had the French Quarter, which was down right delicious. I’ve had the Land & Sea before but the French Quarter is starting to become my favorite dish there. We both got the California salad, which is probably my favorite salad I’ve had, the caramelized pecans really top it off! Our favorite part of the night is always the chocolate fondue, this time around we had the flaming turtle and we loved it. We really loved our overall experience and we will be back!
Okay so I know what to expect at the melting pot when it comes to the price so that is not why I am only giving it two stars. I’ve been to Melting Pots in Rhode Island and Massachusetts and they are night and day nicer than this one. The other Melting Pots are really nice inside and make you feel like atmosphere is worth paying the extra money for. Not this one, they clearly just moved in after the previous restaurant went under and put on a new coat of paint. Not what I was expecting The service was really great. We went with the cheese fondue and the bread was stale. That seems like a pretty simple thing to avoid. We decided to pay to get the upgraded dippers and the probably weren’t worth it. The summer sausage was so cold it was like they just took it out of the freezer. The house salad is always good. We skip the meat portion of the meal because it just isn’t that good for the price and I am usually too full to fit in the meat and one of the most important parts of the whole meal the chocolate. The chocolate at the end is probably the best part of the whole process. The dippers that they give you are awesome and it is the perfect way to end the meal.

Service was great and fast but food is certainly not worth the price. For two with no alcohol and tip was $ 132. Generally the fondue is ok, but could have much more flavor. I don’t think we will return mainly because of being tremendously over priced.

My Irish ancestors boiled their meat. It’s because they were poor. In all seriousness, this was a big bummer for me. Full disclosure — I don’t have a long history with fondue beyond cheese. My wife and I visited for an anniversary dinner because it was something she has been wanting to do for a while. If you are a fondue lover I guess you can skip the rest of the review because nothing I say will deter you. If you are not so into fondue then read on. We arrived and were shown to our booth. The appetizer cheese was pretty good but they seem confused about what to serve it with because they give you a bit of everything — a bit of bread, carrots, cauliflower, tortilla chips. You git a bit of everything but not much, so if you prefer to eat your cheese dip on bread you’re on to cauliflower after a couple of bites. The bread was a bit stale. Our salads were mediocre, small, decently made, but nothing to write home about. Certainly not worth ~$ 8 each. The main course is a meat of your choosing. We got the«classic» which is about $ 20 apiece. Here we have marinated chicken, steak, pork, and shrimp. There is probably about 8oz of meat apiece. You also have to choose your fondue type — we went with coq-a-vin. So here is the deal — you spear your meat and boil it in broth(or broth with wine in our case) and then eat it. They serve the meat with several sauces because boiled meat doesn’t taste that good. Don’t forget to keep track of the time your meat has been in or it will be undercooked. That’s right — you have to cook your own dinner for $ 50 a plate. So all in all I was disappointed. Perhaps I should have known better but I can’t help but feel like I got fleeced. I think there are many, many better dinner experiences out there for $ 50 a plate. Hey — just hit the search bar above!

Went to the Melting Pot with my wife. Nice place. Manager and waitress were good people. I look at things a little differently than some people. I have what I call a value equation. Simply put is the money I’m paying worth the food/experience I had. In this case absolutely not. When 2 people go to dinner and drink only ice tea and the bill comes to $ 130.00 with tip. That’s a bit much. Granted we did have the Lobster but still way overpriced. It will be interesting if this type of restaurant can survive in the Greensboro market. I don’t see it happening.

Oh Melting Pot. So if you read my previous review about the MP you would see that the experience wasn’t perfect and that the manager went to proper lengths to make sure that it was fixed. Well, she didn’t. I never received the certificate that she said she would send me… even after giving her my address twice. She also gave us VIP cards which she said would work for every visit. Well we came for dessert tonight, 5 of us, and we weren’t able to us the cards because our waitress said that it was only for 4 course meals. I asked the manager that gave them to us and she said that she wasn’t the one that issued it. It was. The food was good however the place is going down hill and fast I think.

Service was really great and the food was delicious. It’s really pricey, but I knew that going in. This location, however, is extremely small and parking is a major challenge. Make a reservation as, again, it’s really small compared to other Melting Pots.

Went there with a Living Social coupon. This was the second time we’d been to a Melting Pot. I cannot imagine paying full price at this chain. The service is attentive to the point of almost harassment. Our waiter was excellent, and would have been sufficient to serve us without intrusions from everyone else, including the manager. There are two big reasons to go to The Melting Pot: The first and last courses. The cheese fondue, to start, and the chocolate fondue to finish are both great. The salad and entrée courses are nothing special.

Ugh. I had heard nothing but good things about this place, and I love fondue, so I thought I couldn’t miss this. I so could have. I went with one other person, and the wait was astounding. Mind you, the place wasn’t very busy and I saw many empty tables. My friend and I waited an hour to be seated. When we were given a table, it was hidden away in a back corner, often overlooked by our waitress. The price was insane, the food took forever and was luke warm, the whole experience was a disappointment.

My husband and I come here for special occassions(birthdays and anniversaries). Only a couple of reasons I would not give this place 5 stars. 1. I think the drinks are very overpriced. 2. They just reopened after being closed almost a year. Supposedly they were moving to a new location, off of Wendover Ave, but that never happened. I think this is kinda sketchy and worriesome about the lifespan of the Melting Pot in Greensboro. 3. Sometimes the staff is overly nice where it is pushes being too fake. Now the reasons I think this place is the bomb diggity. 1. Excellent tasting food… You will not taste anything else quite like this fondue. It is expensive but you can get out of there only spending an amount a little more than other restaurants and still feel like you had the full experience. 2. Everyone is very accomodating. When you are celebrating birthdays and special occassions, you can opt to have flowers or balloons sitting on the table ready for when you sit down. Also, everyone working there signs a card wishing you congratulations. If there is something else you would like done to the table, by all means ask and you shall receive. 3. Be prepared to cook your own food. That is if you order an entrée, then the meat and vegetables come to you raw and you cook the food in your fondue pot. This is very neat and of course one of the reasons it’s a fondue restaurant.
