I have been in David’s at other locations and they were pretty good. This one needs a management adjustment. We walked in midweek, midafternoon for a mother’s dress. The only people were a young couple seemingly lounging around with their cellphones. Fifteen minutes of wandering around the empty store and a salesperson appeared. She talked to the young couple and they started looking thru the racks. We explained what we wanted and she had one suggestion and said she would look for more. Another woman walked in and the salesperson started to help her, apparently forgetting she already had us waiting. So we tried the dress… no good. Eventually, we were shown another dress. Good, just needed minor alterations. Let’s go down and see the tailor. OH…$ 25– extra to hem a hem and tack a strap for a wedding in twelve days.(9 business days). All of a sudden another salesperson appears and remind our salesperson that we could not just see the tailor, we had to make an appointment. Just at that moment, like magic, the tailor appears! But instead of taking us over and measuring the hem and the tack, he insists on an appointment. And there also was another salesperson in this seemingly empty store who eventually came to hover around without doing anything useful. Apparently, this is the only bridal game in town, which probably explains why it is still open. Our bride had commented to us on a negative experience at this David’s. Looks like a bride with a good budget, 5 bridesmaids, mothers and aunts, all needing dresses was not worthy of good service either. So, we bought the dress. And we have a recommended seamstress doing the alterationsin plenty of time for the wedding without any extra charge. And next time we will skip David’s even if we have to go to Raleigh.
