I love their Tuesday special, Chicken Pastry. So simple, yet sooooo good. Once you taste it, it will be a Tuesday must stop for you(like it is for me). Sides are Mac & Cheese and yams. Cornbread is the best in town.

GREAT place for fabulous food and casual conversation! Breakfasts are always awesome. You definitely want to order the cheese biscuit! Lunches/Dinners never disappoint. *Hint: Thursday’s are fried chicken day!!!

You will not be disappointed here. Baked chicken, Turkey barbeque and cakes to die for. The yams are outrageous. Service is wonderful, atmosphere is great. Pay them a visit and bring your appetite! The process are in line with most others but you will leave with a smile on your face.

Its been a few years since I’ve been here. But I must say this place has great home style southern comfort food. I would say this place is one of the only things I truly miss since my departure from Greenville. I wish this place was in Raleigh instead lol. I would come here on a regular occasion with my friend Jason. He’s actually the one who told me about the place. If you’re ever in Greenville. Or if you’re an ECU student feeling home sick for a home cooked meal. Be sure to stop by GK. Seriously. You won’t regret it! I know if I ever find myself back on that side of the state, I would definitely stop by again :)

I drove by this place many times, but never knew it existed. Finally got to eat here. Not a fancy place. Just good country cooking with friendly staff and great prices!!! They have the best mac and cheese!

I love this place! When your craving grandma’s food. This is the way to get it. They cater our church events and it is always amazing. My only complaint and it’s a personal pet-peeve, I don’t care for gravy on everything.

When I was in town last month for a conference, a group of us stopped by GK Café for dinner on a Monday night. I believe there were 14 of us, but they seated us quickly and easily in a back room. GK has a fixed menu. I imagine this makes preparing food fast easier, but they still took quite a while bringing out entrees. On Mondays they offer smothered pork chops, baked spaghetti, and lasagna for entrees and green beans, yams, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, potato salad, and a garden salad for sides. Additionally, you can choose a dinner roll or cornbread. A Regular meal is one entrée, two sides, and bread. I chose lasagna, green beans, and yams with a dinner roll. All were very good, but I wasn’t blown away by them. I must admit that I was most excited by the cake because of the pictures on the website and I was delighted to find that they did, in fact, have strawberry red velvet cake with cream cheese and pecan frosting in the house. Like many, I grabbed a slice to go. I found mine to be delicious although others were not as impressed with their selections. I might go back to GK again though. It was simple, but good.

So my son lived in Greenville for 5 years and on the day his Dad and I went down to move him out to get ready for the real world, we decided to eat here for lunch. I can’t tell you how upset my son was that he had not been eating here all along. He lived 2 minutes away at Copper Beech! The soul food selection is different each day and slightly limited but we found something we both liked. The food was delicious.(The pasta salad was made with spaghetti noodles — a little strange but still good.) The mac and cheese was just like Grandma’s home made and we ordered a side to take home. You could tell the waiter was either new or a young family member or something but he was okay. We had also used them for catering a large graduation party and everything was good and went smoothly. I gave five stars rather than the 4 I had planned on giving to offset a bit the one star review below for being closed which I thought affected their rating too greatly. Seeing three stars at the time we decided to eat here — we almost skipped it, but I am happy we didn’t!

Here’s the conundrum(which happens to be my favorite white table wine). I wanted to make it my new«breakfast place». The food is ALWAYS good and a great value($ 6.38). The service is hit or miss. They are never busy beyond what they can handle but sometimes the girls stand around and chat while you are waiting for a tea refill. I will continue to go… but I hope they get better on providing consistent good service.

I love gk café! They have the best soul food in town. I’m a vegetarian and even I could find something delicious. I’m a huge fan of the Mac and cheese. Their hours are a little funny because they reserve certain days for catering, but if you can get there on an open day, it is totally worth your time.

On my one and only visit to G-Vegas I was told GK had the best«local» breakfast in town. Thank god, for all I could find on my own was a bagel place and an iHop. But then we showed up to find out that GK closes on Saturdays. And that was that. A one-star rating probably isn’t fair, but what else can be said about a so-called breakfast joint that isn’t open on Saturday. I’m perplexed. :-(Sad face.
